I could probably pick any Thea Gilmore song ever and find at least one excerpt that's awesome, but since I was just singing this one, here's my favourite bit:
Thea Gilmore - Exit Route wrote:God's electrician sparked up the heavens once again
Heading northbound on the 7:10
And the lord said 'let there be commuters'
Talking pension plans, medicals and monthly targets end to end
I was hoping I could steal you
Away from all that chemical release
We were both walking, talking, silk-wraped razor blades
Carving our initials into each others' memories and

I know I can't place blame
But this was all your idea
I just got out when I did
to prove the exit route was clear

And I've seen you play dumb
But what else can you do?
I've seen you dodge my questions like bullets
But come on honey show me something new
Show me this amphetamine psychosis
Show me this not quite comatosis
Gonna track us up for the evening
And you and I can support each other like rotting fence posts

And just because it's so damned funny:
Richard Harris - MacArthur Park wrote:Spring was never waiting for us, girl
It ran one step ahead
As we followed in the dance
Between the parted pages and were pressed
In love's hot, fevered iron
Like a striped pair of pants

MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!
He does not spout ever more, new stupidities. He "diversifies his wrongness portfolio."

This is the first Tool song I ever heard (which was quite a while ago) and it's still one of my favourites:

Tool - Right in Two
Spoiler:
Angels on the sideline,
Puzzled and amused.
Why did Father give these humans free will?
Now they're all confused.

Don't these talking monkeys know that
Eden has enough to go around?
Plenty in this holy garden, silly monkeys,
Where there's one you're bound to divide it.
Right in two.

Angels on the sideline,
Baffled and confused.
Father blessed them all with reason.
And this is what they choose.
And this is what they choose...

Monkey killing monkey killing monkey
Over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys give them thumbs,
They forge a blade,
And where there's one
they're bound to divide it,
Right in two.
Right in two.

Monkey killing monkey killing monkey.
Over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys give them thumbs.
They make a club.

And beat their brother, down.
How they survive so misguided is a mystery.

Repugnant is a creature who would squander
the ability to lift an eye to heaven,
conscious of his fleeting time here.

Cut it all right in two
Cut it all right in two
Cut it all right in two
Cut it all right in two

Fight over the clouds, over earth, over canyon
They fight for our love, for our blood, over heaven,
Fight over love, over sun,
over nothing, they fight till they die,
and for what? For their lives ending.

Angels on the sideline again.
Benched along with patience and reason.
Angels on the sideline again
Wondering when this tug of war will end.

Cut it all right in two
Cut it all right in two
Cut it all right in two

RIGHT IN TWO!

Right in two...

See if you can spot the guy who just rediscovered his copy of "Some Girls Wander By Mistake"

Sisters of Mercy - "Lights" wrote:The lights shine clear through the sodium haze
The night draws near and the daylight fades
Ignore the voices
Discard the day
For the brand new darkness
For the bright new way

Hit

Well, there have been better plans
But none that I could ever understand
Emerald signal, the green on black
The lights say "move", say "never look back"
And so I find another place where I've never been seen
Find another place where the red turns green
Where the emerald glistens through the darkness again
Where the emerald glistens through the rain

The lights shine clear through the sodium haze
The night draws near and the daylight fades
But there's a voice in the distance, quiet and clear
Saying something that I never, ever wanted to hear

Well, there have been better plans
But none that I could ever understand
I see the emerald signal, see the green on black
See the lights say "move", say "never look back"
And so I find another place where I'll never be seen
Find another place where the red turns green
Where the emerald glistens through the darkness again
Where the emerald glistens through the rain

And I'm happy here....

I could post just about any Sage Francis song, he's just amazing. Like any fan of genre that has its mainstream representation resemble NOTHING of the aspects of it you like, it's frustrating to hear people badmouth rap (though the sweeping generalizations are understandable). Sage is one of the many truly talented rappers who writes amazing lyrics and performs them beautifully. This song isn't even close to being my favorite of his, however I enjoy the lyrics to this song more than any other. Like all his songs it is just packed with wordplay. I'm guessing the lyrics are off on more than a few words because whoever wrote it out was probably just listening to the song, and the speed at which he raps can make it hard to figure out.

Inherited Scars
By Sage Francis

"I want to show you something," she said.
As if I've built up enough trust in her to the point where she can show me the type of thing that she has to first introduce by saying she wants to show it...instead of just showing it like "Look!"
And I like...don't feel like looking...like the uninterested type.
So I say "AAAaaaiiight...Show that shit."

I didn't tell anyone about what I seen or heard that day, mums is the word still.
I'm scared to plant ideas into your head while your rebellious side is fertile.
Hurdles are getting knocked down...I'm running a losing race.
Your legs aren't the only ones marked up. How many dreams have you chased?
If I could have said this to your face maybe you wouldn't have to write like I do,
Except I use paper instead of my body now; it's something you might want to try too
From haikus to horror stories, it's something in our blood that we share,
Something in our blood that appears on the surface of our skin when we bring it there.
My facial expression said I didn't care.
Hate and aggression must've made an impression on the little kid who stared,
Sitting on stairs when I would bother to bring my skates...
My feeble attempt at being a strong, big brother...doing father figure 8's.
Ripping my cape on the ground that it dragged on.
Tripping on fate and hearing the sounds of a sad song.
Listen, it's great sharing time now that dad's gone,
But what's with the choice of words? Or the body parts that you decided to tag them on?
I'm a vagabond who moved to modern day Babylon and then back again,
With minimal contact and you know I can't ask your Mom what's happening.
You've got such beautiful gifts. What are you doing ruining the packaging?
How ironic...come to think...I probably put this ink on my back for him.
I want you to laugh and sing more,
But you dropped anchor in a place where dreams go to die. Keeping your ass indoors.
I'm asking for you to stick it out...and see things through.
You're asking for me to zip my mouth and keep it just between me and you.

So that's what I'm a do.
And wait for my cue...

If I could have been there from the beginning...if I could be there right now... /
if I could promise to be there when you need me, would it raise an eyebrow? /
How would your body be different if I still dropped by for visits? /
Is it my place to put a smile on your face? /
Could I erase your body language telling you its all been said before? /
Or change the words you wrote, exchanging your scars for my metaphors? /
Add them to my collection while smiling. /
Next time you want to paint with razor blades and need a canvas use my skin. /

Hiding your sins well, I see the hell that your limbs speak.
Tongue in cheek. Lying awake in bed while other kids sleep.
The strength of evil begins to keep your grins weak.
No matter the length of the needle, marking up one's body is so much more than skin deep.
Feel the pin prick. The grim reap what they sew and you're trained to say that you're fine.
Your thresh hold for pain is greater than mine.
So I'm waiting in the lines that you give me...patiently,
While you get cut in the lines that they make you wait in...in ways that they can't see.
If there's a vacancy as far as room in your life goes,
say it to me. And don't do it with a knife under your clothes.
Because the anguish of hidden skin...is letting my ghosts be shown.
Plus the language its written in hits especially close to home.
I'm most alone when I'm out of touch with the people who feel this type of pain.
You might just aim for a day when it's raining...to strike a vein to take my name in.
Changing your uniform and altering your mind set.
Has your pointer finger decided if it was a fault of his or mine yet?...I bet.
I know the dialect. It's nowhere I haven't been before,
With skin that's sore. Battle scars that rise from our inner war,
Are decorative medals of honor that our father decided to pass through inheritance,
And it is repetitive when the kids head in the direction of evidence...proving the pain and hurt is relative.

All this pain and hurt is relative.

If I could have been there from the beginning.
If I could be there right now.
If I could promise to be there when you need me...
When you need me...
Give me a shout.

Blind Melon - Holyman wrote:I was born on the banks off a hot muddy river
The child of one stupid steamy night
Born to roam beneath the sun
What do you think of me, I'm better left alone
I met a Holyman that said that he knew the way
And he'd like to show me so my life won't go astray
Take my hand child now little boy don't you be afraid
I'll take your soul and walk on water
Holyman, ya don't understand
The cuts on me they run much deeper
Holyman, you righteous man
I've been shown the way a thousand times
Not one a keeper
Older man he said I'll tell you boy
You've planted rotten seeds
And in a land of happiness
They'll grow us evil trees
Guided minds, and eyes that will never see
Holyman I'll tell you
Just what it is that I believe
Holyman I tell you man you gotta
Believe in what you see
Cause its you that corrupt us man and
Deep throat philosophy
I don't need your spells or the little
Games you try to pull on me
Come to think of it I don't need your religion
Gotta get away
I wish you would understand
Everybody prays
Let me find my own way

Blind Melon - Tones of Home wrote:What do you think they would say
If I stood up and I walked away
Nobody here really understands me,
And so Ill wave goodbye Im fine
And Im fine

Tones of home

Said you dont like the way Im living
Tones of home
Tones of home
And so I wave goodbye
Im flyin, and Im flyin home

And I always thought this would be
The land of milk and honey
Oh but I come to find out
That its all hate and money
And theres a canopy of greed holding me down

Tones of home

Said you dont like the way Im living
Tones of home
Tones of home
And so I wave goodbye
Im flyin, Im flyin home

See Im so high to you, but Ill fade away
I said youre on your own

Your mom and daddy said,
That your sister said,
And your brothers saying
Theyre saying everybody,
Theyre saying everybody
Is sayin i, eye..

All my friends patronize me,
And they say yo hey boy!
Have you found what youre looking for?
It seems they dont really know me
Cause its here, and its what they cant see

Tones of home

Said you dont like the way Im living
Tones of home
Tones of home
And so I wave goodbye
And Im flyin, and Im flyin home

Been listening to this song almost all day long, singing along to some of the lyrics every so often can catch some people totally offguard.

Nine Inch Nails - Survivalism
Spoiler:
I should have listened to her,
so hard to keep control.
We kept on eating but our
bloated bellies still not full.
She gave us all she had but
we went and took some more.
Can't seem to shut her legs our
mother nature is a whore.

I got my propaganda I got revisionism.
I got my violence in hi-def ultra-realism.
I'm a part of this great nation.
I got my fist I got my plan I got survivalism.

Hypnotic sound of siren
echoing through the street.
The cocking of the rifles,
the marching of the feet.
You see your world on fire,

don't try to act surprised.
We did just what you told us.
Lost our faith along the way and found ourselves believing your lies.

I got my propaganda I got revisionism.
I got my violence (and) I got ultra-realism.
I'm a part of this great nation.
I got my fist I got my plan I got survivalism.

All bruised and broken bleeding,
she asks to take my hand.
I turn just keep on walking.
But you'd do the same thing in the circumstance I'm sure you understand.

I got my propaganda I got revisionism.
I got my violence, I got ultra-realism.
I'm a part of this great nation.
I got my fist I got my plan I got survivalism.

Marry me by Emilie Autumn has some great lyrics...it seem to be written from the perspective of one of Henry the VIII's wives

Emilie Autumn wrote:Marry me, he said, through his rotten teeth, bad breath, and then
Marry me instead of that strapping young goatherd, but when
I was in his bed, and my father had sold me
I knew I hadn't any choice, hushed my voice, did what any girl would do and
When I'm beheaded at least I was wedded
And when I am buried at least I was married
I'll hide my behavior with wine as my savior

But, oh, what beautiful things I'll wear
What beautiful dresses and hair
I'm lucky to share his bed
Especially since I'll soon be dead

Marry me, he said, god, he's ugly, but fortune is ours
Running in the gardens enjoying men, women, and flowers
Then I break a glass and I slit my own innermost thigh
So that I can pretend that I'm menstru...well, unavailable
My life is arranged but this union's deranged
So I'll fuck who I choose for I've nothing to lose
And when master’s displeased I'll be down on my knees again

Oh, what beautiful things I'll wear
What beautiful dresses and hair
I'm lucky to share his bed
Especially since I'll soon be dead

When dining on peacock I know I won't swallow
Through balls, births, and bridge games I know what will follow
We're coupled together through hell, hurt, and hunger
Or at least until husband finds someone younger
Yes, fertilization is part of my station
I laugh as he drabs me in anticipation
Of sons who will run things when I'm under covers
But whose children are they? Why, mine and my lover's!

But, oh, what beautiful things I'll wear
What beautiful dresses and hair
I'm lucky to share his bed
Especially since I'll soon be dead
What beautiful things I'll wear
What beautiful dresses and hair
I'm lucky to share his bed
So why do I wish I was...

I don't know what it is about Audioslave that puts me in mind of the WoD (especially given how mainstream they are, and how most goth music fails to summon the same connection to an ostensibly gothic horror setting), but this song reminds me of "Changeling: The Lost" to a ridiculous degree.

Exploder wrote:I met a man locked away
For things he hadn't done
Innocence on a ball and chain,
He'll never feel the sun
Again on his face or roses in his hands
But when he smiled at me, I could understand

If you're free you'll never see the walls
If your head is clear you'll never freefall
If you're right you'll never fear the wrong
If your head is high you'll never fear at all

There was a daughter of a man
Who took his life too young
She swore she'd never do the same
Then did just what he'd done
And a boy who's gone insane
Heard voices in his head
No one knows what they say
Now his mother's dead

There was a man who had a face
That looked a lot like me
I saw him in the mirror and
I fought him in the street
And when he turned away
I shot him in the head
Then I came to realize
I had killed myself

If you're free you'll never see the walls
If your head is clear you'll never freefall
If you're right you'll never fear the wrong
If your head is high you'll never fear at all

Johnette Napolitano - Suicide Note
Every night
You wrote another line
With a bloody, broken, bottle
And every day
You wish it away
Why don't you pull the pin
On that grenade
You cuddle

Laura Veirs and the Salt Breakers - Cast a Hook in Me

Breathe life to the street from the mouth
Those ruby red lips have much to give
Pull life from the land with your capable hands
Those life loving beautiful broken hands
Oh, I'll stand with you and marvel
At the cosmos pink and bright
All the pages flipping backwards
Til time is gone and wrong is right

Rivers running up the hills and to the sky and down to the sea
Where a merman with a twinkle casts a hook in me

Sing me a salty blue song, I'll be gone
With watery cheeks down flowered lanes
Tattered sails on a ramshakle ship, I'll go pale
Staring straight in the face looming tempest waves
Otherwise I'll wither and die here
On this reach of rubble rambling
With two years filled up with sand, dear
In a broken daze I'll be scrambling

Like rivers running up the hills and to the sky and down to the sea
Where a merman with a twinkle casts a hook in me

Summer sky falling into the sea, taking part of me
See the bones on the sand in the light
All the heards of the sea rushing by, pay no mind
To the dancing reflections gone wild
And at night a fractured star fell
And pierced right through the thick of me
I cried out in pain and joy, yes
I'm not dead, not numb, not withering

Like a falling leaf who keeps her green, I'm turning bright in the sea
Where a merman with a twinkle casts a hook in me

Joni Mitchell - Blue
Blue, songs are like tatoos
You know I've been to see before
Crown and anchor me,
Or let me sail away

Blue, there is a song for you
Ink on a pin,
Underneath the skin,
An empty space to fill in

Well, there's so many sinking
Now you gotta keep thinking
You can make it through these waves
Acid, booze, and ass
Needles, guns, and grass
Lots of laughs, lots of laughs

Everybody's saying that
Hell's the hippest way to go
Well, I don't think so, but I'll take a look around it, though
Blue, I love you.

Blue, here is a shell for you
Inside you'll hear a sigh
A foggy lullaby
There is your from me
I've been sent to give you a singing mammogram.

This is my new favorite song. I heard it on Scrubs last night [it's a Christian song though] by Kutless
How do I speak of the indescribable to You
I will try to explain these feelings that are true
So looking to the sky I will sing and from my heart to You I bring

All of the words in all of my life that could never explain and never describe
All of my love, which is nothing to hide so I lift up my hands and I worship
I worship You

In your presence I forever choose to live
I will praise You for it's all I have to give
So looking to the sky I will sing and from my heart to You I bring

All of the words in all of my life that could never explain and never describe
All of my love, which is nothing to hide so I lift up my hands and I worship

By Your grace You let me come talk to You
It's not that I'm worthy I thank you Jesus
For the love that You have shown

All of the words in all of my life that could never explain and never describe
All of my love, which is nothing to hide so I lift up my hands and I worship

With all of the words in all of my life that could never explain and never describe
All of my love, which is nothing to hide so I lift up my hands and I worship
I worship You
Life is beautiful.

I've suddenly hit a bit of a low spot tonight, so some not so cheery lyrics to match.

Manic Street Preachers - 'Born A Girl' wrote:Do I look good for you tonight
Will you accuse me as I hide
Behind these layers of disguise
And the mirrors of my own happiness

I've loved the freedom of being inside
Need a new start and a different time
Something grows in the space between me
And it's twisting and changing this fragile body

And I wish I had been born a girl
Instead of what I am
Yes I wish I had been born a girl
And not this mess of a man
And not this mess of a man
And not this mess of a man

The censorship of my skin
Is screaming inside and from within
There's no room in this world for a girl like me
No place around there where I fit in

And I wish I had been born a girl
Instead of what I am
Yes I wish I had been born a girl
And not this mess of a man
And not this mess of a man
And not this mess of a man
And not this mess of a man
And not this mess of a man

(As an aside, I do think about taking out the repeats, but it doesn't feel right for some reason, despite the fact they don't really have much impact when standing as lyrics alone.)

Can't Sleep - above and beyond
4.30 A.M, I'm awake again
Singing to the dark through open eyes
While dreaming I see only you and me
Stuck between desire and compromise

If I said I want you back I'd be a liar
There's nothing left of us to long for anymore
But inside the ashes burns an endless fire
And every night I can't help reaching out for more

And I can't sleep... You're so far away from me
And I can't sleep... And I can't sleep
And I can't sleep... You're so far away from me
And I can't sleep... And I can't sleep

You're leaving me scars scattered in my heart
A road map of all the places you have been
And I can't escape, can't wash this away
Love has burned your mark so deep within

If I said I want you back I'd be a liar
There's nothing left of us to long for anymore
But inside the ashes burns an endless fire
And every night I can't help reaching out for more

And I can't sleep... You're so far away from me
And I can't sleep... And I can't sleep
And I can't sleep... You're so far away from me
And I can't sleep... And I can't sleep

And I can't sleep... You're so far away from me
And I can't sleep... And I can't sleep
And I can't sleep... You're so far away from me
And I can't sleep... And I can't sleep

Sentenced - Ever frost
Spoiler:
The accusations and the blame
True or false, they seem the same
Filthy fingers, rising rose
And out of shit a flower grows
I'm amazed how damn low
People can go only by being themselves

Those with hearts of Ever-frost
Always know we never lost
Flames rose high...
Not enough to melt the ice
Tiny minds and virtuous whores
Bunch of morons with a cause
"Jesus saves?" - We will piss upon your graves

Three wise men came to the north
On they donkeys they rode forth
Whining I'd committed sins
Moaning I'm to everything
Still amazed how our whole trio on link
Can have only two brain cells

Those with hearts of Ever-frost
Always knowing ever lost
Acid rain, urine on your flames
Urine on your flames

Those with hearts of Ever-frost
Always know we never lost
Flames rose high...
Not enough to melt the ice
Tiny minds and virtuous whores
Bunch of morons with a cause
"Jesus saves?" - We will piss upon your graves

Placid rain, urine on your graves

One of my favorite songs.

Well, 8 pages of song lyrics and no Bob Dylan is a downright travesty, so I wasnt planning on it, but Ballad of a Thin Man needs posting.

Bob Dylan - Ballad of a Thin Man
You walk into the room
With your pencil in your hand
You see somebody naked
And you say, "Who is that man?"
You try so hard
But you don't understand
Just what you'll say
When you get home

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

You raise up your head
And you ask, "Is this where it is?"
And somebody points to you and says
"It's his"
And you say, "What's mine?"
And somebody else says, "Where what is?"
And you say, "Oh my God
Am I here all alone?"

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

You hand in your ticket
And you go watch the geek
Who immediately walks up to you
When he hears you speak
And says, "How does it feel
To be such a freak?"
And you say, "Impossible"
As he hands you a bone

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

You have many contacts
Among the lumberjacks
To get you facts
When someone attacks your imagination
But nobody has any respect
Anyway they already expect you
To just give a check
To tax-deductible charity organizations

You've been with the professors
And they've all liked your looks
With great lawyers you have
Discussed lepers and crooks
You've been through all of
F. Scott Fitzgerald's books
You're very well read
It's well known

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

Well, the sword swallower, he comes up to you
And then he kneels
He crosses himself
And then he clicks his high heels
And without further notice
He asks you how it feels
And he says, "Here is your throat back
Thanks for the loan"

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

Now you see this one-eyed midget
Shouting the word "NOW"
And you say, "For what reason?"
And he says, "How?"
And you say, "What does this mean?"
And he screams back, "You're a cow
Give me some milk
Or else go home"

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

Well, you walk into the room
Like a camel and then you frown
You put your eyes in your pocket
And your nose on the ground
There ought to be a law
Against you comin' around
You should be made
To wear earphones

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

Also, The Meat Puppets are pretty fuckin sweet.

The Meat Puppets - Lake of Fire
Where do bad folks go when they die?
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly
They go to the lake of fire and fry
Won't see them again 'till the fourth of July

I knew a lady who came from Duluth
She got bit by a dog with a rabid tooth
She went to her grave just a little too soon
And she flew away howling on the yellow moon

Where do bad folks go when they die?
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly
They go down to the lake of fire and fry
Won't see them again 'till the fourth of July

Now the people cry and the people moan
And they look for a dry place to call their home
And try to find some place to rest their bones
While the angels and the devils try to make them their own

Where do bad folks go when they die?
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly
They go down to the lake of fire and fry
Won't see them again 'till the fourth of July

Overhead the albatross
Hangs motionless upon the air
And deep beneath the rolling waves
In labyrinths of coral caves
An echo of a distant time
Comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine.

And no one called us to the land
And no one knows the where's or why's.
Something stirs and something tries
Starts to climb toward the light.

Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me.
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand
The best I can.

And no one called us to the land
And no one crosses there alive.
No one speaks and no one tries
No one flies around the sun....

Almost everyday you fall
Upon my waking eyes,
Inviting and inciting me
To rise.
And through the window in the wall
Come streaming in on sunlight wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning.

And no one sings me lullabyes
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky....

Epic.
Who are you and who am I
To say we know the reason why?
Some are born; some men die
Beneath one infinite sky.
There'll be war, there'll be peace.
But everything one day will cease.
All the iron turned to rust;
All the proud men turned to dust.

Jumping Someone Else's Train by The Cure wrote:Don't say what you mean
You might spoil your face
If you walk in the crowd
You won't leave any trace
It's always the same
You're jumping someone else's train
It won't take you long
To learn the new smile
You'll have to adapt
Or you'll be out of style
It's always the same
You're jumping someone else's train

If you pick up on it quick
You can say you were there
Again and again and again
You're jumping someone else's train

It's the latest wave
That you've been craving for
The old ideal
Was getting such a bore
Now you're back in line
Going not quite quite as far
But in half the time
Everyone's happy
They're finally all the same
'cause everyone's jumping
Everyone else's train

Jumping someone else's train
Jumping someone else's train
Jumping someone else's train

I can't believe only one person's posted any Clutch lyrics (Kudos, Monsieur Jalapeno). I shall rectify this situation. The first one, being almost entirely spoken in a rat-tat-tat style, is a real tongue-twister. The second one is brilliant - I have never heard another example of binary in a song. (And yes, they really do sing "One zero - zero zero one one - one zero one zero one")

Careful With That Mic by Clutch wrote:Ah ha ha, ah ha ha

So tell me, when you took the Practice Scholastic Aptitude Test, did you know the answers or did you guess? You rely on gimmicks to amuse your fans and act all urbane to jack up your soundscan, what's the matter with you man, how come you rhyme monosyllabically, has atrophy stricken your entire vocabulary? Your style's like garbage cans, it's meant to be taken out on a weekly basis ever since your first record you've been in a state of suspended animation, you look like Snuffleuffagus and Australopithecus, me cray, you abacus, but enough about you, let's talk about me and how single-handedly I redefined the entire science of radioastronomy, making Nobel prize winners question their notions of reality. Oh, but I digress, you play Sorry, I play chess, go get some percosets.
Ah ha ha, ah ha ha

Careful with that mic weezy
Do you really think it's that easy?
Do you really think it's true?
That up above they can't hear you

Mmm, this is really good ice cream, do you want some of it? Oh, my bad, I didn't know you were lactose intolerant, makes you pass gas, frightens all the girls away, the only friends you keep are those you pay, I'm always on the ready for the whack snack attack, I carry sandwiches around in a straight edge style Jansport back pack, got the gadget Q gave Bond, controls your mind, makes you jump in a pond, go quack quack and flap your arms, leaves you confused but completely unharmed
Ah ha ha, ah ha ha

Now look here, both you and I know the past ten years have been rather intense, I'm ashamed to admit I've been fooled by the seductions of violence, People walking around with ugly auras at times I'm even tempted to seek the advice of Dr. Laura, but I ignore her.

And I take a deep breath and count to ten
Ain't gonna let it get under my skin
Take a deep breath and count to ten
Think of all the nice places that I've been

Like back when I was waging peace against the visigoths, I was tutored in the ancient mysteries by a wisened philosoph, learned the polyrythyms of celestial time, waiting for the one to come, to get it done, and finish the rhyme
Ah ha ha, ah ha ha

Careful with that mic weezy
Do you really think it's that easy?
Do you really think it's true?
That up above they can't hear you

Ah ha ha, ah ha ha
Mhhmm-hmm-hmm, mhhmm-hmm-hmm

i really love the lyrics from the song Puppets by Hum
She don't stand, she glistens, and this is how we listen, and this is how it goes.
She doesn't glow, she glistens, embrace the eyeful sickens, you didn't have to be so fucked up from the get-go.

Your listless falling feels the same as two lives tripped on a single string.
And hopeless, helpless now we're gusting to another space as we seize.
Ascension is ours, ascension has opened up here now, with you in my failing arms.

And she doesn't glow, she glistens, says this is how we listen, and if we go slow, we both can go.
I'm supine now and fading out, so this is what my life's about, I didn't have to be so fucked up from the get-go.

Your listless falling feels the same as two lives tripped on a single string.
So hopeless, helpless now we're gusting to another space.
As we see, ascension is ours, ascension has opened up here now, with you in my failing arms, with you in my failing arms.

She doesn't glow, she glistens.
She doesn't glow, she glistens.

Your listless falling feels the same as two lives tripped on a single string.
And hopeless, helpless now we're gusting to another space.
As a tease, your listless falling feels like nothing else to think about, I'm blinking out, I'm blinking out, I'm blinking out.
Ascension is ours, ascension is opened up here now, with you in my failing arms, you're blinking out in my failing arms.

i feel that to truly appriciate it you need to hear the song so here it is Puppets from h-u-m.net

Heavenly Junkie

I saw a film, future visions of now
They changed the end
Cause they always do somehow
Saw you tonight, for the first time in years
Crushed and thin
But your guardian angel's with you judging by the way you walk

And I have a feeling, it wasn't that easy
Keeping a pace like that
Forever you fool me
You're a heavenly junkie
We live in the dreams you had
I have a feeling, it wasn't that easy
To be who you were

I saw a film about the violence in men
I press rewind, take it frame by frame again
Saw you tonight, life still danced in your eyes
You're creased and lined,
But your guardian angel's with you judging by the way you talk

And I have a feeling, it wasn't that easy
Keeping a pace like that
Forever you fool me
You're a heavenly junkie
We live in the dreams you had

Sisters of Mercy - Heartland wrote:Lay me down the long white line
Leave the sirens far behind me
Paint my name in black and gold
My heart, my flame, my heart, my road
My heartland fade across the line
Heartland, see the faces shining

Clearly now, the past mistakes
The giant steps we had to take
The path that ever promise made to
Die in dreams, dissolve, and fade

My heartland, heartland, heartland....

Behind the lines a face that glimmers
Still looking for a face that shines
In the promise, in the places
I'm going to make them mine

My heartland, heartland, heartland....

I really like the song "Classics of Love" by Common Rider. It puts perfectly how I feel about music.

Classics of Love by Common Rider wrote:At one -
I was sitting and thinking of all the
beautiful things he could have become
Instead of a lyrical oracle and I'm a most appreciative one
'cause I'm in a world of my own
when I'm into it I don't want anything else
and nothing can bother me when I'm inside of it
cause I'm outside of myself

Midnight Marauder spinning on my stereo
Mr. Desmond Dekker has a crown made of gold
The kids are alright a what a what I hear
London calling but I have no fear
Ms. Ella Fitzgerald has no peer
Music sweet music make the truth so clear
Classics of love make a dark day light
If you don't believe the words just look into their eyes

Sun shining down on a cloudy day
I know those songs gonna last forever that's what I say

At two - I'm running around in my mind and my mind's a fucking zoo
One of the ones under the gun wondering "what do I do?"
Ever feel the same way? Slave to the brain wave
Brave if you pave ways through to the true you?
If you take me out, please don't forget to take me home
If you take me to a party, please don't forget the microphone
If we take my car, then please don't try to touch the radio
'cause the midnight sun is burning bringing peace into my soul!

[Chorus]

Now I'm listening to the classics of love in the day and night
you got the power radiate and fade
you got the vibe make you feel alright

It's also nice picking up on the little references (Desmond Dekker, London Calling, Midnight Marauder, etc.)

EDIT: Sometimes I wish I were more subtle in my approach

Erm...no one's acknowledged you in this thread yet, so I thought I would. Like so: I see what you did there. Ironically, it's one of the few "lyrics" on this thread I have read.

I'm not even going to pretend that my taste in music isn't impossibly dorky. Here's a song from Treasure Planet:
GooGoo Dolls wrote:I am a question to the world
Not an answer to be heard
Or a moment
That's held in your arms

And what do you think you'd ever say?
I won't listen anyway
You don't know me
And I'll never be what you want me to be

And what do you think you'd understand?
I'm a boy, no, I'm a man
You can't take me
And throw me away

And how can you learn what's never shown?
Yeah, you stand here on your own
They don't know me
Cause I'm not here

And I want a moment to be real
Wanna touch things I don't feel
Wanna hold on and feel I belong
And how can the world want me to change?
They're the ones that stay the same
They don't know me
Cause I'm not here

And you see the things they never see
All you wanted I could be
Now you know me
And I'm not afraid

And I want to tell you who I am
Can you help me be a man?
They can't break me
As long as I know who I am

And I want a moment to be real
Wanna touch things I don't feel
Wanna hold on and feel I belong
And how can the world want me to change?
They're the ones that stay the same
They don't know me
Cause I'm not here
Raise up the torch and light the way.

From Bullion by Millencolin (The best band in the world):

"if I only had the time to make some muffins
then I swear that I would share them with you now."

It says everything in just two lines
"You must be pulling my leg" - Darcy on gravity

"We are all atheists about most of the gods that societies have ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further."

<3 Gogol Bordello. It's easy to dismiss them as just an amusing band but I really like their lyrics - they can be quite clever, and often have a pretty serious point.

Muse - Thoughts of a Dying Atheist wrote:Eerie whispers trapped beneath my pillow
Won't let me sleep, your memories...
I know you're in this room, I'm sure I heard you sigh
Floating in between where our worlds collide

It scares the hell out of me
And the end is all I can see
And it scares the hell out of me
And the end is all I can see

I know the moment's near
And there's nothing we can do
Look through a faithless eye
Are you afraid to die?

It scares the hell out of me
And the end is all I can see
And it scares the hell out of me

And the end is all I can see

REM - Monty got a Raw Deal wrote:Monty, this seems strange to me
And movies had that movie thing
But nonsense has a welcome ring
And heroes don't come easy

Now, nonsense isn't new to me
I know my head, I know my feet
But mischief knocked me in the knees
Said "just let go"

Just let go

I saw the ocean meet the man
I saw you buried in the sand
A friend was there to hold your hand
Said, "Walk. On. By."

So I went walking through the street
I saw you strung up in a tree
A woman knelt there said to me
"Son, hold your tongue, yeah
Hold your tongue."

You don't owe me anything
You don't want this sympathy
Don't you waste your breath.

That nonsense doesn't mean a thing
They tried to bust you in a sting
But virtue isn't everything
So don't waste time

Now here's a rhyme that you can steal
Put this on your reel-to-reel
Mischief threw a rotten deal
And Monty's laying low, yeah
He's laying low
Just let go.

You don't owe me anything.
You don't want this sympathy [waste your breath]
Don't you waste your breath [waste your breath]

Monty, this seems strange to me....

A good example of how things can be read multiple ways. I know what this song was written about, but it seems to change meanings to me from listening to listening depending on my mood because REMs' phrasing is so loose and vague.

A few bits, of different character:
First, my favorite rhyme in all of rock. It's a good song, that messes a little with the conventional story, and rhyming Orpheus like that...
Nick Cave - The Lyre of Orpheus wrote:Eurydice appeared, brindled in blood
She said to Orpheus:
"If you play that fucking thing down here
I'll stick it up your orifice"

And the third verse from another Nick Cave song (which reads like a gospel song, but is about Johnny Cash):
Nick Cave - Let the Bells Ring wrote:There are those of us not fit to tie
The laces of your shoes
Must remain behind to testify
With an elementary blues
So let's walk outside, the hour's late
Through your crumbs and scattered shells
Where the awed and the mediocre wait
Barely fit to ring the bells

So let the bells ring
He's the real thing

Nick Cave - There She Goes, My Beautiful World wrote:I look at you, you look at me and deep in our hearts, babe, we know it
That you weren't much of a muse, but then, I weren't much of a poet

And all of "Red Right Hand", which might be a lot better when sung:
Spoiler:
Take a litle walk to the edge of town
Go across the tracks
Where the viaduct looms,
like a bird of doom
As it shifts and cracks
Where secrets lie in the border fires,
in the humming wires
Hey man, you know
you're never coming back
Past the square, past the bridge,
past the mills, past the stacks
On a gathering storm comes
a tall handsome man
In a dusty black coat with
a red right hand

He'll wrap you in his arms,
tell you that you've been a good boy
He'll rekindle all the dreams
it took you a lifetime to destroy
He'll reach deep into the hole,
heal your shrinking soul
Hey buddy, you know you're
never ever coming back
He's a god, he's a man,
he's a ghost, he's a guru
They're whispering his name
through this disappearing land
But hidden in his coat
is a red right hand

You ain't got no money?
He'll get you some
You ain't got no car? He'll get you one
You ain't got no self-respect,
you feel like an insect
Well don't you worry buddy,
cause here he comes
Through the ghettos and the barrio
and the bowery and the slum
A shadow is cast wherever he stands
Stacks of green paper in his
red right hand

You'll see him in your nightmares,
you'll see him in your dreams
He'll appear out of nowhere but
he ain't what he seems
You'll see him in your head,
on the TV screen
And hey buddy, I'm warning
you to turn it off
He's a ghost, he's a god,
he's a man, he's a guru
You're one microscopic cog
in his catastrophic plan
Designed and directed by
his red right hand

A well-crafted beginning:
Phil Ochs - I'm going to say it now wrote:Oh, I am just a student, sir,
and I only want to learn
But it's hard to read through the rising smoke
From the books that you like to burn

And one of my greatest "Yes!" moments from any song.
Bright Eyes - Middleman wrote:The dead can hide beneath the ground
And the birds can always fly
But the rest of us do what we must
In constant compromise

Nick Cave is pure distilled win...

Someone make Depeche Mode go away

A Pain that I'm Used To wrote:I'm not sure what I'm looking for anymore
I just know that I'm harder to console
I don't see who I'm trying to be instead of me
But the key is a question of control

Can you say what you're trying to play anyway?
I just pay while you're breaking all the rules
All the signs that I find have been underlined
Devils thrive on the drive that is pure

All this running around, well it's getting me down
Just give me a pain that I'm used to
I don't need to believe all the dreams you conceive
You just need to achieve something that rings true

There's a hole in your soul like an animal
With no conscience, repentence, oh no
Close your eyes, pay the price for your paradise
Devils feed on the seeds of the soul

I can't conceal what I feel, what I know is real
No mistaking or faking, I care
Weave a prayer in the air, I will leave it there
On a note full of hope not despair

All this running around, well it's getting me down
Just give me a pain that I'm used to
I don't need to believe all the dreams you conceive
You just need to achieve something that rings true

I'm listening to Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle and there was one part where it got quiet and then loud again in, like, 3 seconds and it's sort of disconcerting.

Nirvana wrote:I miss the comfort in being sad
In her false witness, hope you're still with us,
To see if they float or drown
maybe if this signature is witty enough someone will finally love me.

Green Carnation; 60:06 of progressive metal love.
Spoiler:
Light of Day, Day of Darkness wrote:
A vision, a call
In times before my fall
In life before I became
I dreamt I was insane

I saw the unseen
I heard the unheard
I rode the sky above the earth
I felt the breeze of the world
I walked along
I should have retrieved
What was real as a merry blue sky
Was long gone within of me

Crimson tide
Wave of lost time
Scenario of a velvet blue sky
I dreamt about day
But I lived in the night
I looked and I saw
That in my dream I was free
Red turned blue
White became black
The daylight erased the shadow of me

Insanity reached
Whispering voice
The sky above the stars
The wind below the moon
The light created shadows
The dark beyond the eyes
I sat before myself
I looked above below

Doves and birds, grass and trees
Where was all I used to see?
Why am I not
What I used to be?
I embrace
My living self

I see the unseen
I hear the unheard
I learned the secret
But not before I learned

Night divide day, day erase night
Light of day, day of Darkness

They are inside my head
Climbing the walls
Falling off the ceiling
Jumping on the floor
Voices and calls
And on the edge of sanity
I stumble and fall

Through the gates of the endless halls

Soldier, walk with me
Through the valley of eternity
In passion I see
Am I the one only the mirror sees?
Through the valley of eternity
Am I the one only the mirror sees?
A distant call for me
I am lost within my memory
Lost in the maze
The secret place that no one's ever seen
I am lost within my memory
The secret place that no one's ever seen
Silent cries of despair
Through the valley of eternity
What sanity remains
Within this fragile, twisted mind

I am all alone
Me, myself, and I
Echoes pound my head
Shapeless forms everywhere

I think, therefore I am
You are a fantasy
Made by me
I dream this world
When I end, the world will end with me
I am everything
You are me
Sleep my child to never be

I fell asleep, to sweet lullaby
A sleep in which I had a dream
In this dream
I conceived a perfect plan
That would change the face of mankind

For it was my dream
To create a perfect world
From this cold imperfect world
And all the answers were inside my mind
And I was unafraid
The dream was so enticing

Light of day, day of Darkness

The soul of an angel
Will live forever
The love of the innocent
Will last forever
A moments passion
I hear a desperate cry

I weep for the weak
I pray for the strong
But now I see it fate
And I'm lying here alone

Through Crimson eye
And shattered lie,
Behold the sacrifice
Of innocent life

There`s blood on the bended knee
The light paint a shadow on me
Will I forsake you
Or will I forsaken be?

I left my body
Come meet me in my dreams
It`s been so long
Would you know me?

I see the unseen
I heard the unheard
I learned the secret
But not before I learned

Time stands still, but I wonder
Who is watching you
Who is watching me

Will I forsake you
Or will I forsaken me
I am so lost but still I am so free

As a traveller
I seek hospitality
As a wanderer
I seek immortality
As a journey through insanity
I seek divine comparity

Funeral Symphony
Behind me, a dark shaping mass
I turn and face, the face of deception
A face without the warmth
Of dignity and grace

In Twilight atmosphere
A silent seductive call

Is summoning me

To my new world
A brave new world
Where right is wrong
And justice is gone

I fell asleep, to sweet lullaby
A sleep in which I had a dream
In this dream
I conceived a perfect plan
That would change the face of mankind

For it was my dream
To create a perfect world
From this cold imperfect world
And all the answers were inside my mind
And I was unafraid
The dream was so enticing

In this dream I conceived the perfect plan

I sit here alone, so cold
Left in the dark, to feel
Pity my soul
What is left to say?
What is left to see?
Where did I fail?

Watch me and my new desire
I am emptier than ever
But I feel complete
I conceil myself
Until night falls
I am who I am
I just want to be

I hear a voice
Who could it be?
Is there anybody else here with me?
Why do you torture me?
Won't you leave me be?

Am I whom I should be?
For all that you are lies only within of me

Out of reach, out of sight
I feel strange and lost
Can you lead me right?
It's too dark for me to see
Capture of soul
won`t you please forgive me?

...forgive me...

I heard the tales
Of the secret way
That tears are replacements
For what has been taken away
From us and the lost
Still, all I see is burning fields
Still, all I hear is dying screams

Am I who I should be?
For all that you are
Lies only within me

I am the future
I am the past

I am what you wish for
The god you wish to be

I am the voice
Behind the silent scream

I am the dark
And the light you'll never see

I am the blood
That makes your soul free

I am pure
I am unclean

It takes one to be a god
It takes one to feel lonely

It takes two to outlast me
It takes two to feel complete

It takes a moon to light the stars
It takes a light to see the dark

Insanity reached
Whispering voice
The sky above the stars
The wind below the moon
The light created shadows
The dark beyond the eyes
I sat before myself

I looked above below

Secondly, my favourite Tool song, from my equally favourite Tool album:
Spoiler:
Reflection wrote:I have come curiously close to the end, down
Beneath my self-indulgent pitiful hole,
Defeated, I concede and
Move closer
I may find comfort here
I may find peace within the emptiness
How pitiful

It's calling me...

And in my darkest moment, fetal and weeping
The moon tells me a secret - my confidant
As full and bright as I am
This light is not my own and
A million light reflections pass over me

Its source is bright and endless
She resuscitates the hopeless
Without her, we are lifeless satellites drifting

And as I pull my head out I am without one doubt
Don't wanna be down here feeding my narcissism.
I must crucify the ego before it's far too late
I pray the light lifts me out
Before I pine away.

So crucify the ego, before it's far too late
To leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical,
And you will come to find that we are all one mind
Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
Just let the light touch you
And let the words spill through
And let them pass right through
Bringing out our hope and reason ...
before we pine away.

Just found "Wild Mood Swings" again. Hooray.

The Cure- Jupiter Crash wrote:She follows me down to the sound of the sea
Slips to the sand, and stares up at me
"Is this how it happens? Is this how it feels?
Is this how a star falls? Is this how a star falls?"

The night turns, as I try to explain
Irresistable attraction and orbital plane
Or maybe it's more like a moth to a flame
She brushes my face with her smile
"Forget about stars for a while"
She melts....

Meanwhile, millions of miles away in space
The incoming comet brushes Jupiter's face
And disappears away with barely a trace

"Was that it? Was that the Jupiter show?
Kindof wasn't quite what I'd hoped for, you know"
And pulling away, she stands up slow
Around her the night turns

Yeah, that was it. That was the Jupiter Crash.
Drawn too close and gone in a flash
Just a few bruises in the region of the splash
She left to the sound of the sea
She just drifted away from me

So much for gravity.

Numb wrote:So this is how it ends
After all these years
Tired of it all
Hopelessly, helplessly broken apart
He finally falls

He doesn't want to think
Doesn't want to feel
Doesn't want to know what's going on
Since there's nothing he can do that'll change anything
He doesn't want to know what's going wrong

Cause he's in love with a drug
One that makes him numb
One that stops him feeling at all
He's in love with the drug
Forget everyone
He really doesn't care anymore

Yeah, this is how it ends
After all this time
Everything just fades away
Worn out and empty, and all alone
With nothing left to say

"Oh it's all too big to make a difference
It's all too wrong to make it right"
Yeah, everything is too unfair
Everything too much to bear
He doesn't have the strength left for the fight

Says all he wants is the drug
The one that makes him numb
The one that stops him feeling at all
He just wants to take the drug
Forget everyone
He doesn't want to care anymore

He just keeps loving the drug
The one that makes him numb
The one that stops him feeling at all
Just keeps loving the drug
The drug that he's become
He isn't really here anymore...."

Tom Waits:
Well I've lost my equilibrium and my car keys and my pride,
The tattoo parlor's warm, and so I hustle there inside
And the grinding off the buzz-saw, "What you want that thing to say?"
I says, "Just don't misspell her name, buddy, she's the one that got away"
... with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

Anyone here like Defiance, Ohio? Their lyrics are some of the most terriffic stuff I've ever seen.

Spoiler:
The Idea of North by Defiance, Ohio wrote:the idea of north was frozen like some glacial ice, so large and imposing - but quickly thawed by words of secrecy and thoughts of northern lights and polar ice and things i can't quite understand. not some cardinal point on a map, but a feeling that takes me where i meekly stand - an idea so exciting that suddenly i'm not content with running wild and playing games with friends in streets of this old college town.

i wish i had a magic compass. to tell me that adulthoods corrupt and there's more to this world than that which meets the eye. it could tell you the truth but to read it, you'd have to leard for yourself the meaning. to meter means to measure, and measures are what i'm so afraid to take.

they say the powers of this world are very strong. that men and women are moved by tides much fiercer than you can imagine. that they sweep us up in their currents, icy waves - the most terrible of lies. could we be much bigger than this with no forces to force us to decide?

Spoiler:
I Don't Want Solidarity If It Means Holding Hands With You by Defiance, Ohio wrote:let's stop this talk of privilage because the songs that we sing are as much a product of our privilage as the clothes on my back and the phone call i made to my mom last night. let's stop this talk of action because action comes easy it's the moments just before that are hard, when i've got to get my voice and my fist on the same page as my heart. let's stop this talk of them because the things we find deplorable in politicians, ceos and cops are the same things that will tear ourselves apart. and let's stop this talk of words because words like dishonesty selfishness and greed aren't as distance to us as we'd like to believe.

so please, the next time you're smashing the state, don't go breaking my heart. because i know that when we pick up the pieces, the only thing left will be the same empty rubble that's made up every revolution that i've ever known to make me believe and lose faith in humanity in the same empty breath of hot air.

they say that the beauty's in the streets. but when i look around, it seems more like defeat. i'm afraid that this fight that we're all caught up in will make us the same as that which we oppose.

so please, the next time you're smashing the state, don't go breaking my heart. but i know that we can pick up the pieces and build something new, something different. that's not like every revolution that i've ever known that can make me believe and have faith in humanity and we'll all breath a breath of fresh air.

Spoiler:
Letter Home by Defiance Ohio wrote:Dear Friend, it is the new year, I'm eight hours away from home. Kids shoot fireworks from streetcorners and run before they explode. Lovers get drunk on the roof of an underground grocery store you know my new years wish is for the place that I call home to stop this stupid war.

If they don't well burn each others' draft cards. we can write an epic poem, except in this one Grendel is the hero, Gilgamesh finds his new home far away from swords and fake chivalry, we've seen the faces of our true enemies, and they don't pay us enough to live on, every year they raise the rent. They hold cards to our faces that rate us on how much we have or have not spent and all for their own evil intent ...

Today I sw a great piece of graffiti, it had birds and spoke of reverie, oh Emily Dickinson, you never seemed so exciting I must say, but without grass or buzzing bees, we all can still have our own prairies and fireworks will serve as stars at the end of this day.

Oh and the world it does keep turning, I used to wish I could sit still so that one day we could meet again with or without our own will, but the miracles in motion, finding new places we belong, and finding inspiration to sing our brand new songs!

More in the vein of albums I totally lost track of..

Imperative Reaction - Never Ending wrote:It was a moment of clarity we lost in the cold
In the landslide that buried a part of my soul
I'm leaving behind what was already there
Just a fictional time
I can no longer bear

And when the days turn into years
Please promise me that what we were
Will always remain
Beyond the fading touch of time
A never-ending line to guide us home
If we should lose our way

In just a moment, sincerity gave way to the cold
In the season that withered a part of my soul
We're saying goodbye to what was never there
Just a fictional time
That no longer cares

And when the days turn into years
Please promise me that what we were
Will always remain
Beyond the fading touch of time
A never-ending line to guide us home
If we should lose our way

the dead milkmen - swordfish

Some people believe in astrology
Others believe in technology
Some people believe in all those "ologies"
But I believe in swordfish
He believes in swordfish

I believe in Happy Days
I believe in Joanie Loves Crotchie
I believe in all that TV crap
And I believe in swordfish
He believes in swordfish

Came up from the ghetto with the help of my stiletto
Every day I hear the people groan:
Why should we buy postage stamps?
We can make our own

We may be doing something wrong
We could be running a little too long
I guess we better end this song
I say I believe in swordfish
He believes in swordfish

Imperative Reaction - Further to Fall wrote:So mediocrity isn't enough
But your hypocrisy is sucking it up
What you claimed to be is conflicting with reality
So above it all, how does it feel?
Watching them fall, while you conceal
The reasons you've gone so far

Keep pulling down
Because this won't last forever
As they hit the ground
Just know that you will never
Reach the heights you failed to climb
Though you tried to be them all
You have failed to realize
The louder your words
The further you will fall
