I Will Listen to Your Music, Promise

Postby lifayt » Mon Apr 19, 2010 3:52 am UTC

So here's the deal. I'm a student that enjoys his free time doing a variety of things. One of those things is sitting on my porch with my laptop trading obscure songs with my friends. Unfortunately, the breadth of music I've been receiving lately has dwindled and as such I yearn for more.

I implore you. Post your music, from popular to obscure, rap to classical and I'll listen to it. I'll probably even comment on it. I have a lot of free time.

Life is always a bit more interesting, colorful, and sickeningly sweet when you're listening to Black Moth Super Rainbow.

Another song of theirs... clicky

@Midnight - Really loving that "Mouse on the Keys" stuff, too! I'll have to check them out.

A bit long for my taste but i've been getting into some metal in the last couple weeks thanks to a friend recommending me Maximum the Hormone. Definitely enjoyed it, though.

This was an experience in itself. Very cool even if it took a bit to sit through the beginning. I looked at some other elliot smith stuff and i think i like what i see.

I'm particularly enjoying Mouse on the Keys. Along with a very trippy music video, they remind me a little of the Avishai Cohen Trio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxXWcbcz27E

I like this song a alot. Definately gonna look into these guys some more. I think along with mouse on the keys this is my favorite.

I dunno. I like that elliot smith song so much because
1) brilliant lyrics brilliant song blah blah
2) because of how it coalesces together from this really disjointed, seemingly out-of-place opening. and then that random bits of conversation turn into a melody.

It's a trend that i've noticed that I enjoy long songs. Agalloch. Porcupine Tree. Mastodon's new album, Opeth...

Speaking of Opeth, I love opeth. Now I dunno if you like screaming/growling sort of vocals, but Mikael Akerfeldt has the best all-around voice in metal. Some people growl better, some people scream better... not many actually SING better, but he does em all, and it sounds so, so sweet.
AS AN EXAMPLE OF HIM, AND OPETH, I present my favorite Opeth song: Ghost of Perdition. That's from their live album; I thought it more interesting to look at than cover art... and Opeth is just about the only band that can pull off sounding studio-perfect (with such ridiculously complex songs!) while actually being live.

Another band I've been listening to a bit is Danananananaykroyd. That song is pretty dope, though I'm not a huge fan of the slow breakdown/chorus. The verses are fly, though.

Also, if Choclomanx is showing his band, let me show mine:

Placebo's just glamrock. You should see how some Japanese bands look.

I do love Placebo by the way and Bright Lights is one of their bests. ( Just behind The Never ending why )

Oh and here's my 2 cents http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9ma53_dV8U Modest Mouse with King Rat.
Are you ready? Well I made my bet
Are you ready? I made some.. preparations.
Are you ready? But I'm older now!

Very very unique and ecclectic punk rock.

They're highly talented, and have Pink Floyd-esque epic songs in their lineup. Lots of fun to listen to.
