It's only cool if no one's heard of it.

I'm starting to get into Hardcore... atleast that's what I think it is...
Hixxy and Darren Styles are my favorites.

Also... all the links in the first post appear to be broken :(

and I was looking forward to hearing some new stuff too...
For some reason I write ridiculously long posts on this forum. In order to curb tl;dr syndrome I attempt to spoiler and summarize where possible. Let me know if my post structure is overly confusing!

Sorry I deleted all of it. But I'm goign to fix the links very soon. If anything however you should PM me, and ask me which you want. I'll send anyone any of those. ^^;

Edit: There I fixed everything and added shit ton more.
Edit 2: BTW Radical, Darren and Hixxy are Happy Hardcore, without question. That's NOT hardcore. There's a *huge* difference. However, I must say I like Darren and Hixxy. A lot. But he's got nothing on other artists. But he's actually pretty good compared to others. Check out Scott Brown and the Bonkers series, Dj Scooter, and Dj Sharpnel (Which is in my first post). Ultimately Happy Hardcore is one my all time favorite genres.

I can't work out which thread to post in, this one or the Techno / Trance one. I think this thread should be renamed 'Electronic music' or some such... as it seems to be broader than t'other.

Anyway, I'm feeling Shackleton and Flying Lotus at the moment. It was particularly great raving out to these two producers at Sonar, in the balmy Barcelona evening.

Normally the words free and beautiful don't come in the same sentence, much less mesh very well, but here it goes.

AFG's new album Dance Floor Drachen, is in my opinion one of the few IDm albums to be released in the past year or two, not only does it incorporate noise (to a small and somewhat nuanced extent) but also includes beautiful sampling, can be found in linky below for free.

Donations go to the artist.
The more money an artist has, the more music they can make.
Therefore an increase in donations might cause an increase in music. (that was really poorly stated, i know...)

Eh money in EDM scenes is a bit of a controversial subject. Obviously the more money they have the easier it is for them to continue making music with better equipment and motivates them to keep making music. However, given how most EDM is generally spread through pirating, it's more often a case of artists who know that they will not be able to live off that production but still produce EDM because they love it that much.

In any case this is why I get very edgy when some people refuse to share music with others especially in scenes where the ONLY way to even know (and even at times obtain) the music is through pirating. They get super defensive about how supportive the fan base is, which I understand, but in my opinion, the more people that know about an artist the more likely you will have someone willing to pay for it. And so far it seems that theory holds mostly true. I mean Christ there's a lot of Djs that download music off SLSK to use for DJing alone. I don't necessarily think it's wrong either. But eh... That's how I just feel about EDM... Most people generally buy what they like when they can afford it, and when they think it'

I think another thing is that a very fair amount of the artists themselves even start off with pirated software for a bit until they can afford what they have now.

*shrug*

I'm a total techno noob, I don't know many artists and I only listen to it as a changeup, but here's some stuff I like...

Cosmic Gate - Exploration of Space, The Wave, etc..
This
This

I also like a little Darude, and Basshunter's DoTA song cracks me up.

Recommend me some more?

There's a few styles you would like. The more rave type of techno you seem to like. In any case check out UK Hardcore, Hard Trance, Chiptune, and Electro. I think those you may like a lot.

Some examples:

Electro:
Digitalism - Idealistic

Hard Trance:
Saltwater - The Legacy (Alphazone Remix)

Chiptune:
Tobiah - I Love Your Music

UK Hardcore:
Mainstream Example of UK Hardcore

Happy Hardcore:
Dj Ravine - 10 Min Mix of HHC

I'll give more later. Just tell me what you like so far so I can narrow your tastes down.

Edit: Also refer to my first post.

I definitely enjoyed this last one, probably moreso just watching the kid scratch (also, he's asian with an aussie accent which is amusing).

I listened to a bunch of the links in your first post... I can't say I liked any. (As I said, techno generally isn't my preference, but it's a nice changeup.)

Cheers!

Hm... and what about these...

Tech House:
Flat Beat
James Zabiela showing off some skill :P

And then... let me know what you think of these...

Various Music Skills
Dj Darth Vader
Lasse's Time Loop Video
Beardy Man using Kaos Pad 3

Btw, Ravine makes tons of videos, and so many other guys. Check them out. They can always use a good listen.

And 2 final videos....
DMC Champions 2003
Dj Dopey 2003 Champion

All genres of electronica have a certain feel to them. Trance is something you listen to and it puts you in a state of trance (good kinds anyways). Electro has a dirty get down and dance feel. (It shares roots with early hip hop). Drum and bass is like breakbeat, hardcore is a very aggressive type, and so forth. I think it's all a matter of finding the right feel.
