Music Appreciation

Postby Insignificant Deifaction » Mon Aug 06, 2007 4:08 am UTC

I wanted to make a thread where we shared awesome songs with each other, based on musical taste. So, let's say someone had a long list of favourites from Rush, I would personally recommend to them Coheed & Cambria.

My favourite songs as I can remember them (in chronological order, starting with the most recent)

Joker & the Thief/Tales/Evolution/Falling Away From Me, first two by Wolfmother, second two by KoRn
Paralyzer by ???
Curse of Curves by Cute Is What We Aim For
Blood Red Summer by Coheed & Cambria
Ten Thousand Fists/Land Of Confusion by Disturbed
The W.A.N.D. by The Flaming Lips
She Moves In Her Own Way by The Kooks
Down With The Sickness by Disturbed
Never Too Late/Animal I Have Become by Three Days Grace
Favour House Atlantic by Coheed & Cambria
Stars by Switchfoot
Anna Molly by Incubus/Wicked Game by HIM
The Theft by Atreyu/Before I Forget by Slipknot
Longview/Give Me Novacaine by Green Day
Ten Speed/The Suffering by Coheed & Cambria
I think I've covered things fairly well.

Favourite Albums of all time:
Game soundtrack for Shin Megami Tensei III: Lucifer's Call (Nocturne to Americans)
Wolfmother by Wolfmother
Ten Thousand Fists by Disturbed
Albums 3 and 4 by Coheed & Cambria (haven't found 2)

These are the only ones that have stood the test of time for me. Not a single track or song from any of those albums has disappointed me.

I guess my musical taste is for complicated pieces, such as with Joker & The Thief, most any Coheed & Cambria song, and the entire SMTIII sountrack. I enjoy incredibly hard songs at times, such as Ten Thousand Fists and Before I Forget. I like thoughtful and meaningful songs such as She Moves In Her Own Way and The W.A.N.D. I also like ones that are somewhat soft and odd, like the two previous, and some of Audioslave's work. I have a very wide musical taste I guess.

Any suggestions? And don't forget to ask for music as well if you like.

I think Disturbed are kinda dumb posers now, but when I liked them a lot I found The Sickness vastly superior to Ten Thousand Fists.
You've just lost twenty dollars and my self respect.

Never owned The Sickness, just had that one song. As far as I can tell, they've got their heads screwed on right about politics, and in specific music downloading. Views: Anti-Bush (okay, fairly obvious, but anywho), perhaps more liberal views, not strongly affiliated with Christianity, and download whatever the fuck you like, it's not like the companies preventing downloading are doing it to protect the artists like they say they are.

Hardly the point of the thread is to discuss bands though. More, to discuss good music.

Favourite songs:

Don't stop Believin' by Journey.
Tarantula by Pendulum

All the rest are pretty much NZ drum and bass, with some less obscure stuff like the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. And Fat Freddy's Drop.

Respectively, Can't always get what you want, Ramble On, and Wandering Eye.

Hallelujah by I can't remember his freaking name!
Canon Rock played by funtwo.

And others. That is a tiny piece of my musical appreciation, and doesn't mention even a tiny piece of what I actually listen to.

Sorry Mr. RealGrouchy Sir. My Update-Fu is weak, the last I had checked, there was no such forum.

I am not keen on Disturbed. He does weird bear growls and that. It sounds like he's coughing up a hairball. Image
