Video Camera Suggestions

Postby eggs » Tue Mar 01, 2011 1:50 am UTC

Hi, I am looking for a good video camera that shoots HD video for around 500 dollars (preferably a bit bellow since i will also be using the same money to buy a copy of Starcraft 2). I want it to be somewhat compact, with above average zoom (just maybe slightly above average), I'm going to be using it just for home movies and school projects. Any suggestions?

Honestly, you can't go wrong with a Flip HD. I use mine more than my (much nicer) ~5 year old Sony HDD Camera. (Was just before the advent of "HD", shoots at 720p.) My flip shoots at the same resolution, holds 2 hours worth of footage, but is a bit lacking in zoom functionality, though I can't honestly say I miss it. Though, the only thing about it I'm not completely satisfied with is its audio at high-volume, but when I need superb audio quality, I switch over to my Sony cam.

Point is, don't discount the Flips because they're compact and inexpensive. They do a really good job, especially for their price point.

Well, I have though about getting the flip, But because of weird circumstances I HAVE to spend about 500 $ on this. Plus i don't like the lack of audio quality.
