Postby Ess » Sat Nov 03, 2007 9:28 pm UTC

My mouth is sore and bleeding a little, but the kiwifruit I just ate was so f***ing worth it. Kiwi always makes my mouth hurt, but it's good, so I'll eat it anyway. Same with pineapples.

Are there any foods that cause pain, but you occasionally eat them anyway because they're just that damned good?

[Edited to fix grammar. Sorry about that.]

Get some dragon fruit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Pitaya_red.jpg

It tastes very similar to kiwi but is a little sweeter, much larger, and doesn't hurt your mouth.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Pitaya_on_plate.jpg

Also looks way scarier

:? Exactly how does a kiwifruit make your mouth sore? I'm not fond of them myself, but I don't think I'd ever heard/read that before. Are you just biting into it as if it were an apple? (Seriously.)

Edit: I just Wikipedia'd (?) it. I didn't know you could eat the skin. I'll have to try that someday.

Can we get a grammar fix on the title? It's really bothering me. (Should be "eaten" rather than "ate".)

Anyway, for me pineapple is a biggy. Some friends and I used to have "food group" nights, where one night we'd eat a whole bunch of fruit, and another a whole bunch of different breads, and so on. Fruit night always involved a pineapple, because the first time we did it was the result of my randomly deciding to buy a whole pineapple at the grocery store. My mouth almost always hurt quite a bit after a few slices, but I never let that stop me from continuing to eat (and share of course) until the whole thing was done.

Jalapeño potato chips are kind of similar, in that I'll often finish an entire bag of them once I open it up in the first place. This is at least as bad as pineapple for my mouth, and worse for the digestion.
Unless stated otherwise, I do not care whether a statement, by itself, constitutes a persuasive political argument. I care whether it's true.

I don't know, I've never had a white one. It's more of a bright purple than red too. Which is a real surprise the first time you open one up. It tastes like kiwi though. What do the white ones taste like?

Moderately kiwi-like, but I've found that they're a bit bland really. Makes a decent milkshake though.

The trick to inferior bacon is to microwave it til you can poke it and it cracks.

Ontopic: Crisps, as I sometimes play with them in my mouth I get cuts on the roof of my mouth.
Never with fruit though.

Ah, seems like you folk are allergic to kiwifruits. Bummer.

Pretty much everything I enjoy eating is forbidden fruit...I always want what I can't (shouldn't) have, and nearly always to excess, too.

Dairy tends to make me horribly phlegmy and give me tummy cramps but I love yoghurt and ice cream. :(

I'm going to have to go with the standard "pop rocks and soda" bit. I tried it yesterday, because I didn't believe that it made your stomach explode (practice what you preach), It hurt when it hit the lower regions, and gave me bad gas from both ends.

I also love sour things to the point of scarring my tongue. I will eat a bunch of sour candy or fruit, and will not stop, even when I feel a noticeable dent in my tongue muscle. Then next day, and for a few days after, its usually gone grey.

Pineapples make the mouth sore because of the enzymes in them. That's what I've heard.

I love pistacios. I love them so much that I ate two packages each day for about a month (while working on my comp). Thus I gave myself an allergy and my tounge gets bloody sore when I eat them now. But they taste sooo gooood o.o

As for Kiwi Fruit... I eat almost all of it. I scrape out all the fleshy fruity goodness, then I proceed to eat all the hairy skin. The only bit I don't eat are the very ends - the leaves or whatever are too much.

Well, for lunch I has a pizza hut personal meat feast but before that had the garlic bread ooo and double fudge cake desert, and for dinner I had a large donar kebab meal, as much kebab meat that will fill half a poly-s boxy thing with shit leads of hot sauce and lettuce. I should really cut down on the take aways as I am doing weight training, down with saturated fat!

Milk. One day at work, they had a ton of those 1 cup milk cartons. Our boss didn't want to waste them, so he told us all to drink up. Between two friends and I, we consumed just under 3 gallons of milk, while at the same time creating a pretty badass milk carton pyramid. That night was hell....

When I was younger, I tried holding one of those "Atomic Warheads" sour candies in the same spot on my tongue until it dissolved. That blister must've lasted a week...

In other news, my metabolism is quite odd; particularly sweet things (Starburst, Sour Patch Kids, etc) cause me to sweat copiously from the head and face until I stop eating them.

Just wanted to mention, I had the red-skinned pitaya (with the white flesh) and it tastes mildly like soap. To me, at least.

Also, eggplants for some reason give me a slightly burning sensation in my mouth. Zucchinis are fine, though. Does anyone else have this?

My friend told me that her friend is allergic to shellfish, so she carries an Epi-Pen with her. The thing is, this girl really loves shellfish. So she's with some people at a seafood restaurant. There are some clams. She plunges the Epi-Pen into her thigh, and starts shoveling away the clams as fast as she can before the stuff wears off.

Whoa.
