What is your favourite animal to eat?

If you like to eat a particular animal, why?
If you don't like to eat animals, why?

I love prawns. Especially with Marie Rose sauce. Something about the texture of the prawns and the taste of the sauce, I guess. If I was given the opportunity to consume as many prawns as I wanted, I would probably suffer from severe digestive problems.

My favourite meat has to be horse. Rabbit comes a close second. Why? Because they're tasty, damnit! I always threaten my bunnies with putting them in a stew if they act up. If they understood me, I'd hope they'd know I'm not joking...

According to Jeremy Clarkson and Stephen Fry, respectively, puffin and swan are, respectively, delicious and disgusting.

Both of these claims sourced from QI, so normally dubious, but since they are first-hand accounts I'll take their words for it until someone produces stronger evidence.

Wild caribou is the way to go. My aunt ate it raw when we were butchering what my grandfather caught, but that didn't do much for me. Still, wild game is better than farmed, and caribou is much better than beef.

I also voted as a vegetarian, because I effectively am a vegetarian now anyways.

In Newfoundland, Moose are pests. There are so many of them, that the government encourages hunting and eating them. Moose steak is quite tender I've heard. But caribou must be a treat.

The only meat I really eat is chicken/turkey and fish. I don't tend to eat red meat, it takes me forever to digest it and I just feel like death after it. I could probably live quite happily as a vegetarian, really, but the options when eating out tend to be disastrously limited. Least, round these parts.

Are you a newfie, then, Aluminus? I've had moose as well, but still quite prefer caribou.
As a fun fact, caribou meat is actually good for your teeth! Archaeologists always wondered why the remains of the Inuit had such good bones and teeth, until they realized one of the main things caribou eat is a lichen (called caribou moss, for whatever silly reason), so they are chalk full of calcium.

Eel has the most magical combination of flavour and texture of any animal I've tried. Pork belly sometimes comes close, but eel is just made of win.

Also, crocodile is pretty cool. It's kind of a cross between chicken, fish and squid in both flavour and texture.

I saw a CBC documentary about "The Moose Problem" and in it there was a regular family of four sitting down to moose steaks.

Chicken. And turkey, I guess, too.
Poultry?

Although my dad tells me frog tastes pretty damn awesome. Haven't tried it yet though.

The pig is the tastiest animal. Bacon, salami, pepperoni, cacciatori, chorizo (heaven on earth - both Spanish and Italian / Sicilian), ham esp. Serrano or Iberico ham, pork chops, pork ribs, pulled pork, pork bellies. Ah... it truly is the best. Strange that they're so disgusting.

Question time: Who coined the phrase "Pigs: turning disgusting slop into delicious bacon since 1847"?

I mainly like beef or chicken. I'm a bit tired of chicken, since it seems like that's all we have for supper. The one good thing I will say about chicken is that it's versatile. There really is no wrong way to cook chicken (except undercooking it), although not everyone may like it prepared the same way.

I like pork to an extent. I mainly like ham, bacon, pork sausage, and smoked shoulder roast.

I only like whiting, catfish, and shrimp as far as fish and seafood goes. I like lobster tail now and then, but it's so damn expensive.

I've had deer once when I visited my great-grandparents. I didn't much care for it. It was too tough. I was told later on by a few fellow students in high school who go deer hunting that either the deer itself was too old, it was processed wrong, or else it wasn't cooked properly.

I had goat once. My dad and I went to some presentation about meat goat farming, and we got to sample some goat meat afterwards. They had barbecued goat meat, chili made with goat meat, and lasagna made with goat meat. The barbecued goat meat and lasagna were pretty good; the chili wasn't. I think they left the spices out, for those who might be sensitive to them. They probably put just enough in for flavor, but not for the heat. I also can remember when my parents gave me goat milk when I was a small child, since it was apparently the only milk I could drink.

I guess lamb is under cute animals? I mainly go with chicken, but lamb comes second. Or actually kangaroo is before it, but I dont eat that often. Beef isn't bad, but none of the rest are really ones I eat much. big of pig, but not heaps.

I eat chicken, turkey & fish. Why? Well since you asked;

About 7 months ago I gave up smoking cigs after smoking for about 4 years. Not a big accomplishment, some people quit after 40 - but I had always told myself that once I quit one thing due to pressure from external sources (I could care less of my health, we die anyway & we're here to enjoy life) - I would quit several things to return that pressure to the external forces which made me quit in the first place.

Everyone says you should quit smoking - well I'll comply. But - I also quit red meat, pig meat, butter, sugar, any soda type drinks, any 'from concentrate' type drinks, alcohol, cheese, and anything that I have not cooked or seen cooked myself. Now I get to tell people that they should quit too, because I think they're unhealthy. It makes me kind of a righteous arse, but people's pressure caused a change in my life. Now I'm returning people a favor by calling them out on their behavior.

Why do I keep doing it? It's saved me a lot of money - I don't eat out anymore, I don't buy overly priced goods (red meat & cheese? overpriced as hell!). I still get to eat, and I'm a decent cook, so I have gotten a chance to explore my cooking outside American cuisine (which is basically just red meat & cheese).

Antelope was the best meat I've had thus far. Tender like a veal steak but lovely savory like lamb. Mmm... lamb is excellent too. I've had crocodile and kangaroo during a trip to Australia, both of which were quite nice. Basically, I like meat from most any animal. Except squirrels, carp, or rats. (It would have to be the apocalypse for me to eat those.)

Pig. Uber preserved pork products are the only meats I can bear to eat. I wander in and out of vegetarianism, but I miss bacon and pepperoni when I'm there. Other than things like that, I find the taste (and texture *shudders*) of meat disgusting and gag inducing.

I'm allergic to all poultry. That being said, I'm still big on meats, albeit different ones in different ways. For pork, I love adobo (a simple sauce of soy sauce, vinegar, onions, garlic, and pepper the pork is cooked in) and lechon (whole roasts). For beef, my boyfriend cooks a mean steak, and I almost never complain about anything involving a mix of beef tips and veggies. I also love shellfish, especially scallops.
