Moo & Keo Webcomic. ["Mistaken Identity" up 12th April]

Postby keozen » Mon Apr 07, 2008 4:07 pm UTC

Ok ladies and gents, we have our [almost] second comic up now on our new shiny website.

http://www.mookeo.com

Anyway, the site is in it's infancy, I haven't had chance to play around with the looks and whatnot yet but the basic functionality is there as is the working RSS feed.

Update: New site coming sometime in the first half of '09

RSS: http://www.mookeo.com/feed/

Expect one comic a week, Monday will be the guaranteed comic update day, and most Fridays we'll also post a Bonus strip for you (but reserve the right to skip a bonus if needs be)

Anyhow, comments are appreciated.

[note: Asking for cameos lots will cause you to drop down the list of people I will cameo, I will hereby assume you ALL want cameos so don't worry I haven't forgotten you. Nuff said]

Once I have a bit more time on my hands we may try our hand at a sight of our own (Keo designs, Moo codes). There are one or two things we would like to be able to do that we can't atm and I know I can easily implement in asp.

However, for now I must admit I am very impressed with the effect and functionality comicpress offers for the small amount of effort involved!

Purely out of curiosity, what was wrong with the old thread?

I'll say what others have said already: I like the art style, and look forward to the comic pitch picking up a little. Probably once you've established the sort of standard things we can expect, and have a recognizable comic "ethos" as it were, that will make new strips easier.

I think I may have spoilt the surprise somewhat by posting here, but Hat Man's got his hat back and I needed a new avatar.

Anyway, woo! First Cammy-O! I would so buy a plush me

The old thread was an experiment to see how the first comic and the general concept went down. A Request For Comment if you like. It also got a little side-tracked to say the least :)

From the responses in that thread, we decided to go ahead and start a website, which this thread is for. It is for discussions of the type "so your new comic site!" rather than "should we HAVE a new comic site?".

Thanks for the positive input, Robin; and everyone else in the other thread. We're really excited! It is quite squee-worthy.

You realize, that with one fora-goer cameo, you're going to crushingly disappoint anyone (read: me) you don't provide similar treatment to, right?
Also, RE: SoapyPlushie

As Homer Simpson said to his rumbling tummy:
Patience, my little pet.

We are working on lots of new ideas so you can definitely expect a new proper comic once a week. The cameos are little bonus surprises, so you just have to be patient to see when you'll get yours :)

Well if you ever actually do a cameo of me, be aware that I am not a raptor, and pictures of me can be found in the picture thread.

And this comic is awesome, and I want a soapyhobo plushie.

So is your plan to take the cameo-person's avatar, draw it in a circle, and then add feet, hands, and any other needed features? If not, is that your plan now? Because I could see that working with most people's avatars.
Also, can I nominate fjafjan for a cameo on the basis that he has the most abstract avatar? I'm not actually nominating him, I'm just curious as to whether or not I'm allowed to.

Quick update, this weeks comic may be a tad late (our usual update days SHOULD be Fridays) as my mac is in for repair and I've just been told there is a delay on parts, Grr!

Yeah, I loved the joke, very well executed. I have to say that while I generally like the art style as well, I'm not sure about the eyes - the way they're drawn doesn't leave much availability for emotion, and I'm slightly worried that the characters will end up looking exactly the same in every strip. Thoughts?

Well I can't comment on the art since it's Keo's work but your constructive critisism is noted and appreciated; if Keo has anything to comment I'm sure he will but we'll discuss it amongst ourselves too.

Funny you should mention that, I was watching a directors commentary of Lilo & Stitch (great film, wasted on kids) and they were talking about the same problem.

I draw characters with eyes like this and other more conventional eyes too, it depends on the project and what I'm trying to do. For this I guess I'm taking it more as a challenge than anything else, it may work it may not but we'll see.

Glad to know people are in the most part liking so far tho and yes I do welcome the constructive criticism, it's nice to be able to chat about the art/writing, etc as well as just get pats on the back (altho i love those too ;) ).

A Less political one on it's way on Friday, It's drawn and scanned and justs needs colouring and all the text work to go into it (which is the longest bit tbh *sigh*).

Great strip, but, still... With the eyes It's kind of hard to see Moo's reaction properly, it still looks pretty cool, but... I dunno, good strip anyway.

Input appreciated, and seriously, it is listened to and discussed at length. But I wanted to throw a question out there - do you find the same deficiency in the lack of facial features in Randall's stick figures? Or do the jokes he does not require facial expression whereas ours do? I am really asking, not trying to be snarky.
