Pronouncing RFID

I've heard a lot of strange pronunciations of RFID in the past few years, because suddenly everyone is talking about it, be it a better way to manage your stock or freaking out about long-range identity theft. So, how do you pronounce RFID?

I personally say it's Are-Eff-Eye-Dee, each letter individually.

I figure I'd call it "near-field" in English. Can you add that option? I know the two concepts aren't equivalent at all, but their overlap in practice is tremendous for all I know.
In Dutch I pronounce the name of each letter (first option).

In my mind I hear "are-fid" when I read this word, but I suspect I'd just spell it out if I ever had cause to say it out loud.
