Wolverine, cool or tepid?

Postby Zohar » Sun Jul 22, 2007 10:23 pm UTC

I think Wolverine is very overrated. I don't like him at all, I don't think he's very powerful or cool. What about you?

Which Wolverine? He's written badly so very, very often; but when he's written right (House of M, Secret War, Fallen Son) then he is one of the greatest characters around.

I have never read any Wolverine that I really liked. I don't remember much since I read all the comics my brother buys and usually the generic superhero stuff fades away.

He's cool. Overused maybe, but still cool.

What Jesster and Oort said. There's so much wolverine out there that you kinda have to pick out the crap and the meh. For instance. Hugh Jackman, solidly in the crap category.

pfft, Deadpool can kick his ass anyday.

He's got way too much attention, X-men and his own Solo comic, that's all he needs. (I guess he can stay on the Avengers)

nah, I'm not sure I like him being in the Avengers. They've got too many "stars" with Spiderman and Wolverine both in the team at the same time...

Note: I haven't read civil war and beyond so I might be completely out of date.

What would you say are really good Wolverine arcs? Maybe I should look them up.

edit: I have a similar problem with Grant Morrison. My brother loves him, I never liked anything he wrote. To me he seems like he's sitting in a room saying "Wow! That's an awesome idea!" and then he invents some crappy story to go along with it. And even the ideas aren't interesting, to me.

I don't think I've ever read a solo Wolverine arc. I enjoyed him in House of M, I thought he was written really well (As was everyone else). Actually, I said that before, along with Secret War, another favourite of mine.

Yeah, Wolvie and Spidey don't mix,
