The Flavor:

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...



Star Wars: EPISODE VII

MURDER OF A JEDI

After the fall of The Empire, the New Republic has been enjoying years of peace and prosperity. Under Luke Skywalker, the Jedi Order has been re-established. The Galactic Senate has been re-formed. Princess Leia and Han Solo finally hooked up.

But not all is well in the galaxy...

One of the new Jedi Masters was found outside the academy, dead. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that not only was he dead - he was cut in half. With a lightsaber.

After a meeting of the Jedi Council, it was decided to enlist the help of the galaxy in hunting down this new Sith. Representatives from across the New Republic were gathered, and instructed to search the galaxy for this murderous Sith. Since there wasn't any evidence left by the cunning murderer, the citizens were required to register their suspicions of someone with the Jedi Council daily...



The Rules (originally written by Vox and modified by pretty much everyone else) I am altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it any further:

  3. IF YOU REVEAL THE ALIGNMENT OF ANY OTHER PLAYER IN ANY WAY OUTSIDE OF THIS THREAD (EVEN IN A SPOILER), THERE MIGHT BE IN-GAME CONSEQUENCES AND PEOPLE WILL HATE YOU. EVEN IF YOU'RE DEAD.
  4. You are still alive until I say you are dead.
  5. You may PM if and only if explicitly stated in your role description (all PMs must be cc'd to me). Additionally, all PM subjects must contain the exact text specified in the role PM.

  10. If you die, don't say anything for the rest of the game except a simple, "Bah, you got me," which reveals no information. This includes revealing anything about any other players in spoilers in the discussion thread. Don't do it. I'm serious. If they want people to know about it, they'll do it themselves. If you post anything that has been confirmed by any sort of mod action, I will be most displeased.

Typically, I will be using the count rule. I reserve the right to apply the top rule if the game is moving too slowly (a deadline will be announced, and there will be a reduced minimum - in the event of a tie or the lower minimum not reached, there will be no lynch).

Role speculation time. I'm assuming given we're told it's episode VII that this is going to make sense from a continuity point of view (This could easily be wrong). Also I only know the movies, not the books etc. (which IIRC are considered canon). It's possible we have characters from the books.

What's a bluey? You mean the blue holographs of dead people?
And Anakin did appear as a holograph in the last movie, right at the end IIRC.

I think it's likely we'll have a Sith Lord as a godfather, it seems to fit. I forgot the exact name they were known as. There are probably some lesser Siths too. Since we have 12 players, I think about 3 scum is a reasonable number, in which case we can discard drones/others as scum (unless there are single drones/droids/stormtroopers around, perhaps a drone/droid would turn independent/town once something happens. See Episode I). Or there's just the one Sith and s/he's* followed by some randoms.

About the non-Dark-side (and I would expect investigations to come up as Dark side or "Light" side (I don't recall a specific name for the good side of the force apart from just "force") people, I think it's likely we have Luke, Leia and Han. Perhaps Lando is in there, he was pretty major. And maybe a rebel pilot, but they weren't too important in the plot (though it would be cool if we had a Wedge Antilles!).

Preview-ninja'd: Well...that changes things. I guess Anakin could be there, and Yoda too. And perhaps a Palpatine. I'm not terribly sure, the above was my best bet.

What I'm going to say is based in the canon. 1. Sith only work in pairs, so either there's only two in the mafia, or we're against more than Sith as a primary enemy. 2. It is very possible that the "apprentice" Sith will have a secondary win condition involving the death of his "master". This will work to our advantage, if we can spot it in action. 3. I wanted to have a 3. :)

Regarding the Sith, there are always two. Always two. If one dies, they are replaced.

I think if we kill a sith they may get a recruit (Perhaps just a one-off to make it not unbalanced).

As far as who the Sith are, we know that Darth stands for 'in' Darth Vader, Darth Sidious etc. It is for this reason that I think that the current Sith lord from henceforth should be refereed to by the name Darth Nertube.

As far as the Roles go, without any canon characters, I imagine the cast will probably be a bit vauge. Probably things like
Jedi Master (With some power, maybe just masons)
Jedi Trainee (With some weaker power, maybe just masons)
Bounty Hunter (Serial Killer? Lyncher?)
Intergalactic Smuggler (Smuggles stuff... dunno. Probably Independent)
Galactic Senator (With some political power. Vote block?)
Galactic Citizen (Vanilla Town)
Holonet Reporter (Cop?)
Galactic Police (Cop?)
Sith Lord (GodFather? Some Extra Power? Can recruit a second sith person?)
Sith Non-Lord (Some Lower Level Scum thing)
Wookie Body Guard (Protects Someone? Lover with someone? Kills whoever targets person they protect?)
Astromech(something like that) Droid (Repairs things? Not sure how that works? Power of being generally awesome with jet packs?)

This. I was just coming back to make speculation like this. I very much think that most roles will be loosely based on canon characters as F_C has speculated, just without the names to make them canon. I confirm that my role is in the above list, and would also be relatively easy to correlate with a canon character, but the name was not mentioned in my PM.

Personally, there are a few possibilities that maybe available:
Sith Lord is actually a Godfather. Maybe he is allowed to attempt to recruit 1 other each night.
Sith Apprentice: given the above, probably 1 to start with, if not, then 2
Jedi Master has to be the cop
Jedi Apprentice possibly a doctor
Bounty Hunter could be SK
Ja ja Binks a Jester? (I joke).

That just simply means that I agree with him.

We don't know if such personas exist (well some do), Are they tagged (you are a Bounty Hunter/SK) or named (You are Luke Slywalker/cop).

We don't even know how many of which type of characters exist?
12 players: 2 scum, 1 cop, 1 doctor, 2 masons, 1 godfather, 1 SK, 1 Jester, 1 miller, 1 Vigilante, 1 Citizen
OR
12 players: 1 scum, 11 citizens

GameMod: Are we to be given the layout in any manner? ie how many of which there are?

I'm hoping that there's a Stormtrooper Serial Killer who has a 10% chance to kill each night, but can shoot at each target multiple times.

Cause we all know how Stormtroopers stuck at shooting things.
