Well, I was hoping to slip by with that one more_people, but you got me!

My game was Joust, and I am a town Vig. I ride my bird, and kill people by landing on their heads. I was hoping to skate by there, as now scum are going to target me.

If you want to cop me to check, go ahead.

Crap. I think I know where the bastard part in this game is coming in.
So basically, now we have GoP claiming Vig and targeting webby, and webby didn't die.

Postby mpolo » Thu Jun 30, 2011 8:19 pm UTC

This is pretty unusual. PGO's usually protect themselves, but kill the person who attacked them. Typical would be that they protect against only one thing. If GoP is really un-nightkillable and Lataro has Vig actions come before cops and other such things, it would actually make sense --

GoP triggers the attack (surviving from the un-nightkillable, but webby surviving because of the ability)
and then the various investigations come along.

Please correct/expand on this table as needed:

1. more_people --> Claims plumber/tracker, Super Mario Bros. // Oracle agrees with SMB and tracker is a possible interp. of Oracle
2. Gopher of Pern --> Claims unnightkillable vig
3. Ibarra --> Claims copycat, failing on more_people
4. webby --> Appears to have a "reactive nightkill", copped as town
5. mpolo --> Claims different powers each cycle (cop N1, oracle D2)
6. weiyaoli --> Claims tracker role (got description of role on webby)

The un-nightkillable vig would seem to be very powerful. Unless his protection and/or his kill was one-shot…

Recap on GoP:
1) GoP did an action on webby.
2) He confirmed being hit by the PGO shot.
3) He then fails to mention that the vig on webby failed until now.

Incidentally, I would have to agree with m_p here. Generally anti-NK abilities belong more to the independents. It's rare to find pro-town who is un-NK-able. It's imbalanced especially in a small setup like this.

I agree that a un-NK-able town vig is kind of overpowered.

Despite The Great Game Genie's intervention on his behalf, the heroes gathered decided that more_people needed to be tossed into the abyss.

more_people has been lynched.

Night 2 starts now, and ends when all actions are submitted, be quick about it.

As the heroes awake and gather again, they see more_people standing there, looking to be just fine.

more_people has been pardoned from the lynch.

meanwhile, the heroes notice that something seems off. As they continue to look around, they notice something else. A dear friend lay dead before them.

"Numbers" have been killed. Their use is strictly prohibited. Use of them may result in bad things happening, proceed at your own risk.

There was also a piece of paper lying on the ground, it read "Coupon good for one free power-up for the holder, granted after the lynch."

Day Three starts now. Deadline is ~8pm EST Friday.

Six alive, Four to lynch.

Twas' apparent, frequent_persons had been pardoned.
The matter presented opposes what powers has been professed by the group.
Though there was a person who professed that he had a power that swapped per day, the past power was a probe.

Ahh screw it.
If it were Roman numerals then I already lost.
I used C and M - forgot they were.

Anyway, m_p was lynched, but he was "pardoned".
mpolo had a variable power claim, but he used it up as his oracle.
IDK now why m_p is alive.

We have trackers, vig, copycat, different actions, and PGO.

Take paper

As long as it's available. I think that I am comfortable with more_people having been pardoned, as I was pretty convinced that he was town. I did not do so myself, however, as I don't have that power.

I note that there were no deaths last night, other than those representations of abstract quantities. Are we all town, or did somebody have a protection, or did something else happen?

It may have been something to do with me. Yesterday, I was offered the chance to go scuba diving. It meant that I lost my vote and night action, but I was protected from all night actions. I don't know if it originated from the mod or another player though.

I guess that could explain the lack of nightkill, but it was also non-existent the previous night. Also, why was more_people not lynched? Anyone like to offer explanation?

I think I've cracked the bastard part of this game now.

Exactly. The Boomfrog lynch is the thing that is really messing with my understanding of the game. If every person were kill immune (as the rest of our results seem to indicate), then BoomFrog shouldn't have died. I am assuming, therefore, that any immunities that might exist are in fact temporary, or depend on other factors that I can't determine from the information I have. While an immunity is certainly a possible result of my power, up to now, it hasn't turned out that way.

As for the coupon, I figured that Ibarra had already had a chance at picking it up, and I would rather have it in the hands of someone I trust. The coupon's effectiveness is predicated on success with handling today's restriction regarding representations of abstract quantities.

I would like to know who pardoned more_people, if it wasn't his doing. I guess no one is going to claim an action on weiyaoli. I didn't use my action last night.

I am voting Ibarra, because they have somehow used a prohibited item, without any apparent repercussions. Webby seems to have been modkilled for the same use, but I could be wrong.

Mpolo, I don't blame you for picking up the coupon. I would have done the same. The fact that Ibarra didn't is also somewhat damning.

I'm going to have to go with consensus here. What Ibarra did without being modkilled seems to be the same thing that webby did while being modkilled. Something is not right here. Unless the restriction has to do with quoting those verbal representations of abstract quantities, I suppose.

Wow, you guys don't waste any time, that's a lynch!

The heroes all gathered and in short order, before all of them could be heard from, give Ibarra a good heave-ho into the great beyond. Having done their heroic duty, they decided they deserved more rest, and went off to bed at noon.

Ibarra has been lynched.

As they gathered, they realized that once again, something was amiss.

Ibarra traveled back in time, surviving the lynch.

They also noticed they seemed to be fewer in number. They looked around and found two corpses, Gopher of Pern, and more_people. They brought the bodies before The Great Game Genie for them to be identified.

more_people has been modkilled for inactivity. He was Super Mario Bros, town plumber, able to spy on people at night.

Gopher of Pern was killed. He was Metroid, scum super villain, cop immune, two-shot kill immune, and roleblocking immune.

They also noticed that "numbers" seem to have been revived over night.

Day Four starts now. Deadline is ~12PM EST Monday.

Three alive, Two to lynch.

I took a Kill on GoP and a PGO on myself.

At least one of those seems to have been quite effective.

MegaMan 2 was starring down Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Pool of Radiance and Castlevania... he knew he was going down, but he didn't want to let Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Pool of Radiance win this, so he hatched a plan...

"I'll blow up if lynched, you'll die too, you can't lynch me!" He shouted.

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Pool of Radiance thought on this, and hatched his own clever scheme...

"I know... I'll make Castlevania double vote you, that way, he'll blow up, and I'll win! I am unstoppable!"

And so he did, however, MegaMan 2 was lying... he had submitted no action, he knew he could not win the day, and so, he did the next best thing... he ensured his buddy Castlevania would carry it.

And so he would, while Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Pool of Radiance was distracted, Castlevania swooped in for the kill, and took Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Pool of Radiance's head off with his whip!

Yeah, I really "wasted" my power selections. I had a suspicion that we were all SK/Survivor type roles early on (Although apparently not as early as webby who got it from his role PM. :P) but still went for cop type power to fit my false claim D1 so that I could build town cred and not get lynched. Later on (apart from D2/N2 when I suspected that webby might target me with a kill as something wasn't adding up about him or GoP) I realized I effectively had to either make up a tracker result resulting in a 50% chance of being lynched or go for it.

mpolo had it the easiest though, since he could be as vague as he wanted about it and not break the code. I was this close to breaking it the last cycle by being about to mention about my NK immunity but luckily everyone had already figured the set-up out by that point so I could get away with a vague GoP targeted me with a NK. I think that would work out the best for me; by losing my one-shot immunity, it made me less of a lynch target and stuff when I could then reflect a kill back onto mpolo/Ibarra.
And you thought I was crazy...

Re: [Micro] Lataro's PYP BASTARD NES - Game Over: weiyaoli w

I sort of suspected that we all had the same role early on (see spoilers). I guessed wrong there at the end, though…

I enjoyed the game a lot. I like the challenge of silly restrictions like the m thing, even if I was the only one who tried (and failed)…

By the way, what were everybody's "safe claims"? I was in a "choose your own adventure" game, with a day or night power based on the choice I made in the day.

So on the first day, I went to the inn and heard rumors about webby, and on the second day, consulted the oracle about more_people.

The "night with two powers" was weird. I had submitted a kill on GoP and a PGO on myself. I somehow got killed (temporarily) by my own PGO attack.
