And I believe I'll follow their example. To coma, perchance to dream pixelated-non-real stuff.

It seems it is time for all of us to drift off to our own happy little slumbercomalands.

Safe and restful coma, coma, coma.

So I don't know if anyone here is a fan of art games, but Proteus is currently 50% off and I think this is the closest thing there is to experiencing the OTC. I know for me at least, playing it filled me with a sense of awe and wonder and I was fascinated about learning about the world I was in. The entire time I was playing through it I kept thinking about the OTC. There's no rivers, but there is a sea1 and hills and yeah.

1which appears to be big.

P.S. I'm going to once again attempt to keep up with the OTT, but Outside is distracting.2

2Do "P.S's" go before or after footnotes?3
3It appears I've just answered my own question. This looks strange.

Thanks for the tipoff. I've had my eye on it for a while but considered it a bit too frivolous, now's my chance to see what all the hype is about.

I wonder if Cueball and Megan know that the tree by a river is near a hole in the ground where an old man of Aran goes around and around.

And his mind is a beacon in the veil of the night, for a strange kind of fashion there's a wrong and a right, and he'll never ever fight over you.

ETA: New crazy hypothesis- the OTC is Randall's visual interpretation of "The Riddle"

I got two strong arms
Blessings of Babylon
With time to carry on

Cueball and Megan spending their time building a recreation of ancient Babylon in sandcastle form.

and try for sins and false alarms

Reference to the occasional falls with no harm done, and to their occasional lapses into destruction (trbuchet).

So to America the brave
Wise men save

Cueball and Megan bravely head off on their journey as La Petite comes in at the last second to presumably save the sandcastle from ruin.

Chorus: Near a tree by a river
There's a hole in the ground

We're up to this bit now. The rest is still to come!

Where an old man of Aran
Goes around and around
And his mind is a beacon
In the veil of the night
For a strange kind of fashion
There's a wrong and a right
But he'll never, never fight over you (end chorus)

I got plans for us
Nights in the scullery
And days instead of me
I only know what to discuss
Oh, for anything but light
Wise men fighting over you

It's not me you see
Pieces of valentine
With just a song of mine
To keep from burning history
Seasons of gasoline and gold
Wise men fold

(Repeat chorus)

I got time to kill
Sly looks in corridors
Without a plan of yours
A blackbird sings on bluebird hill
Thanks to the calling of the wild
Wise men's child

(Repeat chorus x 2)

But he'll never ever fight over you.

The evening was as dark as the ink on the paper, and as wet too. I took a drag of my cuban cigar and leaned back, leering up at her under the brim of my black bowler cap. She glared back, her deep russet eyes like ripe walnuts burning her challenge into my heart. The dame had heart, that was for sure, I could tell that from the moment she walked in, her skinny gams stretching down to the floor in a mighty powerful stance. This was one determined lady, and she wouldn't stop till she had what she wanted. I searched her unyielding face, looking for signs of weakness. With none to be found, I took another drag of my cigar and looked back down at her ultimatum. I leaned forward.

"So this guy, whats-'is-name, you an' 'im were lookin' for a river, is that it?"

She continued glaring back, sullenly, her eyes never leaving mine, like a crocodile watching its prey.

"So what's yer problem, 'e run off with this french dame?"

She shook her head. Clearly I'd missed something and she wasn't about to tell.

"So what d'ya want me to do, sugar? I'm just a private detective, not no marital counselor."

"She ain't no lover," the dame replied haughtily. She motioned at the paper she'd thrown on my solid maple desk when she'd burst in all quick-like. I glanced back down. The torn scrap of paper had only two words written on it, and boy were they some inscrutable little chickenscratch. They read, quite simply:

La Petite

"I need you to find her." The dame resumed her baleful gaze. My hand instinctively jerked towards the bottom drawer of my desk, where I kept my trusty Colt .38 special. She always had my back in tough situations, though I didn't think I'd need her services at the present time. The dame sighed, her long dark hair waving slightly in the cool air of the dark office. "There's a cut in it for you."

That there was the song I'd been listenin' for, and boy was it a pretty tune. I whistled it right back at her.

"You got yerself a detective then, miss."

And with this questionable piece of film noir-style narration, I coma. Au revoir, mes amis.

Dang, had my ONG already to go, then I got sidetracked.

I see, Cueball wasn't getting something out of his bag, he was just fluffing it.

You helped Addams stay in her home, and gave her a better life. She thanks you, and so do I.

I can't take it anymore! Just read The Second Controversy Of What People Should Be Posting and it was greatly disheartening to read that about half the thread got sick of blitzers like, 9 days ago (so the news that it's old are already old!), they skip the "epigones", they hate the reports of blitzers on blitzers, and think the thread should be about the OTC and not this bad recursion.

It hurt in the stomach to have that realization, I had already gotten a few vibes of it, but reading about it all in one sitting is a real mood-killer. They want us to spoiler the whole thing so they can skip it faster!

I know the other half of people enjoy reading about the progress and appreciate the richness of the thread, but this awareness of it just makes it impossible to continue (the thing I dislike the most is causing drama; the biggest drama in the thread was about blitzers). So this is my last SignPost. I don't want to feel like this anymore.

Many thanks to mscha, ucim, descor, BlitzGirl, Valarya, StratPlayer, jjjdavidson, azule, tman2nd, Swein, all the people that had sigcouragement or communicated with me at some point, and all the people that I'm forgetting to mention (I love you all!) but have made my Quest so worth it!

I will continue to ketchup to the present, though now, silently, and will eagerly wait for the SignPosts of other blitzers like VoronX and TheMinim and other travelers (hopefully they have a thicker skin than me!), which really, are the meat and potatoes of this thread to me, Cueball and Megan can keep looking at the river forever...

<- Will now continue reporting my progress in the Location bar... Oh wait, it's this way -> or not...

See you in the present!
Go! Go! You can do it username5243!
Cheers Marsh'n!

Well, mustard. The complainers have forced Vytron to blitz in silence!

I hope he begins signposting once more when he sees how quickly we moved on from that topic.

"Dosis facit venenum."
Paracelsus*, defensio iii, 1538.

Edit: The original quote translates to "All things are poison, and nothing is without poison; only the dose permits something not to be poisonous." [WP]

*Actually, everyone who drank one beer too much at least once knew that.

Post-coma, pre school-run... Hope I got the quote attributions right in my trimming.

Valarya wrote:You know. All that outside stuff getting in the way. But now that I've read your comment, I have to add that I think it's wonderful you've saved the toys! As a child of the 80s, and also a mom, it's so cool to see my daughter play with my old stuff. ;)

Ditto (with the substitution of dad for mom, and 70s for 80s.. mostly.) My 5yo was getting bored with some little wooden set that made up a simple oval, so last year I finally dragged out a HUGE box I'd had in the attic for more than a few years, and we made up this with about 10% of it ... The battery operated train even works still, through it struggles with the hills..

Lego is both the singular and the plural, most of the time it should be used as pieces of lego vs. piece of lego (or lego brick, though I never caught on to using that one since very few of the pieces that I ever played with were shaped like bricks).

That said, I should admit that I have used "legos" when referring to the duplo blocks that my 3-year-old son needs to pick up before going to bed, just because it's easier to say and understand.

Is it? We use Lego for both singular and plural, and "lego bricks" when wanting to be specific - Duplo is much much brick shaped anyway! It always throws me when I see "Legos", as it feels like plural-of-a-plural - big pile of lego sets maybe?
