Re: 1190: "Time"

Postby TheMinim » Wed Jun 05, 2013 3:54 pm UTC

A very large clan of people were going about their lives, from all four corners of the Earth, well, if the Earth was a cube, then it would be like that. One by one, they all headed for an area, looking for a new amusement that would hold their attention for a short amount of time, before going to a large cave network to throw flames at each other in war.

The new addition to the area came on that Monday, at the same place, and the same time. And underneath, all it said was "Wait for it."

The First One hurriedly grabbed the link, and ran off to the Cave Network, opening a new cave. He/she/they/xe left the vital information, with his/her/their own message.

"I have no patience for entropy."

Updated Chilpy animation.

It hasn't been eaten. (Yet?)
Being fed by a parent Chilp seems the most likely scenario. (So, not angry, but hungry.)
We'll know more in a newpix.

YES! And do try and ignore the miniseries or the Studio Ghibli movie version - one of their low points, unfortunately. I heard the mini-series was "not bad," but definitely do not see before reading the series itself.

If he's in horror at that he's going to be absolutely apoplectic at how mom/dad cleans Chirlpy's droppings from the nest...

If this is a feeding and not a "feeding feeding", then it's a fledgling out of its nest and would most likely be getting some solid food.

For some reason, I read the first Earthsea book at the age of 10, and then just...stopped. not sure why. I loved the book.

Hey, it's my birthday! Time for some poetry.

Elderly, shmelderly!
This is my first day as
quinquagenarian.
How can it be?

He in the mirror is
balding and greying and
yielding to gravity.
He can't be me!

On the bright side, I suppose a quinquagenarian has the right to be quinqy. And in just ten years I'll be a sexagenarian - woo hoo!
(I mean, retirement, daytime television, poisoning pigeons in the park - that sort of thing.)

Well, it's nice to read comics with friends. Have a flagged muffin!

Unless, it didn't give it food, in its mouth. Maybe it was a hat. Or a very small copy of GEB, translated to bird, of course. We'll just have to wait for the enhancement team.

Cueball did admit he doesn't know how anything works, so I suppose we should not be surprised they were neither able to identify a bird chirp nor understand bird feeding. Unless it was in fact a tiny raptorebuchet and not a molpyworm, in which case Cueball and Megan should take cover.

Funny that you should mention a cave, as it has been established that we, followers of the OTC and members of the OTT, are a tribe living in a cave, and the frames we watch and wait for are akin to shadows on the wall of the cave. So yes, it is possible that Cuegan did live in a cave up to now.

And watch the heresy, you would-be heretic. Darcomax is around here somewhere. You'd not like a pelting with skittles would you? Or are do we still have a supply of M&Ms?

Wouldn't it be fun if ALL of us on the OTT were able to send your friend e-mail, saying how you have been an active and recognized participant in the international xkcd Time community for the past 2+ months, you had multiple titles bestowed upon you, etc., and "where the heck have you (meaning your friend) been this whole Time???" :-)

Wait for it. Or don't.

Yeah, I had some M & Ms too, but I had to throw them out -- turned out they were all defective. Nothing but a bunch of "W's"....

Hrrrrumphh. Dam' youngsters. Time y'all grew up a bit. You'll have to wait a good while before there's room on the porch. Sorry.

Maybe I shouldn't be so gruff. In just ten short years, you'll be eligible to join my Tai Chi class. Wait for it.

Oh! Peanut butter punishment, in candy coated shells. Very nice! Er...I mean, uh, terrible. How terrible!

Oh, I do so hate it when that happens! We should start a petition for better quality standards.

Understandable. I still find myself much too light in my curmudgeonosity, although (according to the 2010 US Census numbers on world population) I am older than over 79% of the population on the planet. I still find myself suffering from occasional twinges of youthful optimism.

I hope it will eventually pass. That old rockin' chair looks mighty comfy, and I do love me a rousin' game of checkers...

I don't even know what to say in response to this last frame. Cuegan must have gotten reset at some point.
