Quite so. Even assuming universal agreement on three perpendicular axes, the location of the origin, the distance that each unit (amount of "one") equals, and the direction of the first axis are completely arbitrary. After that the direction of the second axis is partially confined but you still have a 360° range to choose from, and two choices for the third axis. Einstein also reminds us that all frames of reference are relative, so this is actually a very important tenant of science.

Re: 1190: "Time"

I feed my friend Catherine every few days, but I feed her as much food as fits in her dish. She can figure out for herself how to ration her food and this way she doesn't bother me about "feeding time". Except at night when I give her wet food, but that's just cute and I'm already awake, so who cares. Okay, she might be a little fat, but she's an indoor cat. Unfortunately she's lately become accustom to playing just before bed, which is annoying when she comes chirping at me and I'm tired and just want to sleep. Yes my friend Catherine chirps, she does not meow.

Most people would not saunter along normally without even a single flinch if they encountered a spiky molpy they had never seen before that kind of aggressively rolled toward them, rolled into a ball and leapt in the air to shoulder-height. But these two don't even register anything, normally walk over and pick it up without comment... ... this Cuegan character is stuck in the Uncanny Valley.

Re: 1190: "Time"

I was wondering...
Perhaps we should publish the stories written here on FanFiction or some similar website.
Of course, most of them require previous knowledge of the OTT, but still...

They deserve to go beyond our tiny community.
They deserve to be read by the whole world.
They deserve to inspire others to Wait for whatever they are waiting for.

For we all are waiting for something, be the second coming of the messiah, the end of days, the future, aliens, a chance to live our lives and fulfill our dreams, it, or even something else completely. And some of us end up losing our faith on what we're waiting for, and start living life one day at a time, with no big plans, and no future in sight. And if all we are is all we were, then we'll soon pass on without a whisper, and life will go on.

I believe everyone should be remembered for something.

I don't know if the above makes sense to anyone but me. But I'll keep waiting for many thing, it included.
(The above may also be the Recordist here asking us to make backups and have a contingency plan.)

EDIT: changed last line.

What meaning of the word "exist" do you have in mind, that would have atoms not exist, and that would have the set of things that exist not be null (and thus make the word "exist" essentially (and existentially?)useless)?

Hmmm. Perhaps I would have been more clear had I said Atoms don't "exist" as such. I didn't mean to imply that I think nothing exists. Something is "causing" (lots of philosophy behind that, actually) the phenomena to occur. It might be "like" atoms or some combination of forces or ??? We don't really know. All we can do is observe and make hypotheses about the "reality," which is only imperfectly knowable. The models created by physics and math help us do that, but it is also useful not to confuse the reality with the model. That leads you to a "clockwork" universe of some sort.

Note: Causality is another place to get tripped up, of course. We observe that phenomena have a certain structure, part of which is regular. But is that cause and effect? Maybe, or not.

I think you mean ambiguous. Y'all refers to a select group which could be singular or plural e.g. "How y'all doin". All y'all is always plural and refers to a general group, or everyone within ear shot "All y'all listen up now".
