Lyoug wrote:@yappobiscuits: wonderful Dream Theater ottification! I was hoping you'd filk them sometime, since I knew you like this band*. As a DT fan myself I enjoyed it very much. I wouldn't have needed to listen to the original to sing along, but there can be no bad occasion to put this epic song on!

@pelrigg: I don't remember someone answering you about that, but nice job identifying the 3 Beanies! I first thought we could only speculate, but you convinced me.

Also, loved the "No Cluegan" nickname, but don't remember who posted it. Thanks for the laugh :)

Last, I love all this language speculation! Right when seeing the first Beanish speech, my immediate reaction was "Oh, the OTT is going to be filled with decrypting and studying, this is going to be fun!". Much has been said already so I have nothing to contribute on this topic right now, but thanks to everyone who did.

*On our first day of delurking, I posted the lyrics of "Losing Time" (not ottified) and you answered adding the chords and the epic ending

(edits for grammar, though I'm sure there are some mistakes left)

Hi Lyoug, that would have been me. Anyway, what I have been wondering about - if you look at Beanish upsidedown (advantage of a laptop) everything looks like regular letters (well, slightly cursive to me) and at first glance looked a bit like German.

Quick ketchup...

First thing of the OTC I saw today was a black wallpaper on my phone. Uh oh, Live Wallpaper broken, I thought. Nope...
It'll all been said before, but I think either something was in the water that made them sleep, or they're just exhausted, and now that they're in an (apparently) safe environment, the tension is relieved and they get sleepy.
The black frame is probably just an indicator for the passing of time. (Apparently, as long at least one of Cuegan is awake, so are we, and vice versa; which is why we missed all nights before the last.) I thought (or hoped) that even before we got the latest newpix, no, really!

I don't think it's a coincidence that the Beanie in np2692 appears to say "692 46", that must be a hint from the GLR, or something...

Gotta go for a handful of newpix soon, so I'll leave it at that.

So close: "chirp" has been uttered a total of 40 times in the OTC.

No wonder we're so chirpin' sick of it.

Yeah.

I agree with a previous poster that it's the "view" inside the hut or whatever it is, and/or that they are sleeping. Now we cut back to the outside view.

Comparison between np2694 and np2692:
Image
The telescope (or car, or whatever it is) was turned a bit. That certainly can't be an accident from the GLR, but it might have been one from the Beanie: 'e might have bumped into it when climbing the tower. (But of course, 'e also might have used it.)

ETA: Ooh, it's even scarier... "692 46" contains the digits necessary to create frame number 2694 (and 2692 if you allow duplicates). It's all related!!1!
(Or it's the GLR picking sides in the canonical frame number debate.)

I suppose it's possible that he is really one of the Beanies, minus beanie, and with a newly-shaved head.

That should be easy enough to check: is he cue-sized or beanie-sized? (I'd check it myself, but I have to leave, like, 10 minutesH ago...)

Hah! I'm not going to lie, it felt intentional! Particularly because up until last night's update it would have been obvious that there was indeed a black frame there as there would have been a white border above the image. That's what I get for making it more seamless!

Whoever predicted that the next fewpix would consist of moving objects around seems to be right. Cuegan and the Beanie both picked up objects this newpix.

Off to coma for a bit. Hope to see some Beanish breakthroughs soon!

A smaller planet would account for the lack of oxygen. With less mass to hold the air down the atmosphere would be less dense and the density would lower way faster on the way up.

@BlitzGirl: That is some amazing image biggification! A straight zoom gives a blurry picture. Is this some kind of pictoshop enhancement?

@ChronosDragon: I am so glad I didn't give any suggestions, that sombrero is a brilliant stroke of inspiration! I'll keep it forever (or at least a few billion years until all 4 merge into one big elliptical).

ETA: I was looking for a suitable thank-you gift for a dragon, thinking of course of a jewel-encrusted clock or watch, but Google had a different idea, and I decided for a more-practical token of my gratitude (in case any annoying dragon-slayers are molping around):

However, during the search for that bug I found others, and fixed them. Who knows, maybe in some unpredictable way they were responsible for the other bad behaviour and it will be fixed (I sincerely doubt this).

Anyway, I also added a dynamic colour bleed system so that the colours which fill out the top and bottom of the screen are now calculated based on the colours in those parts of the current frame which is pretty 4. This means that if there are any more night scenes, or close-ups of people holding trebuchets for example, it will look a lot better.

Nice work!

I do! On PS3/Steam. Cuz they kind of came bundled.

I know I sort of brought this back up earlier, in my request for Skyrim modders, but I wanted to include it in my BlitzPost. Because a Portal 2 map of the OTT would be AWESOME! Just tell me when I can play it spoiler-free please (assuming that it is/will be a map)?

Yeah, about that... the OTC keeps getting bigger and bigger so if I'm going to do anything it will involve seriously reduced ambitions. I do have a little idea brewing though...

Wow, I was browsing OTC through Geekwagon and got to the black newpix. I was so scared to scroll to the next newpix. I thought we'll find Cuegan being tortured in Beanies' dungeon. Now it seems they were really just tired and not drugged.

Also, I have come up with another theory in the meantime. Beanies are us. Beanies are OTT-culture after 11000 years of evolution. They wear hats, they do science, they have developed a new language... (so which beanish symbol stands for "Molpy"?)

Since it's been well-established that time vs. newpix is highly variable, I predict, in Bayesian fashion :P , that hundreds of years passed during that single dark frame. Cuegan and the Beanies were in a stasis Bobble and have just emerged to the new time.

Marsh'n blitzing to you from NP 32 (3%)

Postby Marsh'n » Wed Jul 10, 2013 12:46 pm UTC

Briefly: Hello to mscha, buffygirl, slinches, and I finally meet the famous Helper. I missed higgs-boson in my first blitzpost, sorry!
Spoiler:
Best prediction yet: benjaminswill makes #915 analog effectively implemented by Book of Geekwagon! Second place to Wnderer for "finish castle, go away, just castle for a while, starts to erode".
Most inaccurate prediction (?): BJ Nemeth "it'll be impossible for future viewers of this coming to have the same kind of shared experience" - for a blitzer, not so much (more below).
Some nice mashups, like Wnderer's click-and-drag-meets-time, and tools like the web-based ONG timer.
Another weird post-post-rearrangement like the one that happened to charlie_grumbles.
Thank you to SBN and buffygirl for spoiler-protection (hmm, I guess we call that a freezer?). No thank you to my memory which managed to forget and see the oh-so-tantalizing current frame by KroniK907 on NP25. Sigh. (Mutters to self: "Beware of 41, beware of 41...")
Hello and goodbye both to Beatrice The Golden... I loved your optimism and predictions and I'm sorry you are no longer with us.
TheMulattoMaker's "waitforitwaitforitwaitforitwaitforitwaitforit" and the original NoisyCartographer "strip tease" pun (now immortalized by higgs-boson).
Finally, PhoenixRising suggests an "import soul" on the thread... it seems to me y'all have done that by now, big time.

I had a lovely realization about the blitz yesterday. Imagine transferring to a new school as a fourth-year student when everyone else has lived through the last three years together, establishing their friendships and private jokes and so forth. Although you might make some friends, you'll never be able to relive those years with them. But on the OTT, it's very different, because even though it's a bit like being a ghost (you can see the events unfold but you can't touch them or make anyone aware of your presence), in some sense you really can go back and relive it.

Hmm... need to read more fasterer.

It's not an absolute proof, but according to the frame difference on Geekwagon the plants didn't change during the black frame.
