What are they going to do with that stick?

Hit the Beanie?
Write on the ground with it?
Draw pictures of things with it?
Does it have writing on it?

Maybe it's the stick Megan used to whack the keyboard...
Why else would Cueball exclaim "Hey" and then hold the stick like that?

Hey, you left out a smiley at the end of the footnote, didn't you? :) I'm sorry if it made you sad, it was meant partly as a joke, partly as a reference to my older post, when I used the same phrase when announcing my comeback after one and a half months and partly they're both referencing to The Big Bang Theory episode "The Gothowitz Deviation" where one of the Goth-girls used this phrase repeatedly.

Oh, and yeah, 'oh, that's nice, they’re going on a trip' was fortunately this case (unlike my previous absence which was ugh, final exams combined with ugh, finishing bachelor's thesis)

Thanks for clarifying! I remembered seeing it the first time and thinking, ‘I noticed, and I'm only just barely here!’ Congratulations on finishing your bachelor's thesis, that's one ‘ugh’ you never have to do again. :D (Love your avatar, by the way.)

So I was about to post the ONG but then I saw in the Topic Review the top of Latent22's FasterONG (I hadn't seen it yet) and I thought I'd been beaten.
Now while ONGing isn't serious business, it would be nice if real ONGs were less mistakable for fake ones.

FTFY.
Huh?

The real comics have been getting more and more unbelievable lately - the white frames/black frames, the new language, the bucket, etc. So the real ONGs look fake, and then you have a "boy who cried wolf wolpy" effect.

Okay I was just a bit confused because you only bolded one of the two changes so for a moment I thought you'd actually fixed an error, but then I checked and saw it was just a switch.

Feel free to slap them in the comfy chair and burn a steak at them. Or ignore them. Or say "ni ni ni chipppy..." wait a minute, that's the wrong saying! It's all in fun (half of which is the pretense of seriousness).

Wow... this thread represents fully one-third of all xkcd activity, including posts that don't count towards post counts! It truly is the One True Thread!

jjjdavidson wrote:I'm not entirely sure what macraw83 is after here...
I think it's this: If you go to the list of comic threads, 1190: Time is usually the top or second in the list. Sometimes it's the third, depending on how many different OtherComics have posts between OTT posts. So, if there is ever a case where, between two OTT posts, n OtherComic threads got posts, then Time would be listed on line number n+1 of the Individual XKCD comic threads listing.

So... what is the lowest value of n for which this has not happened?

Yeah, it could be a map. I mean look at all the surveying equipment they have. (Of course, a map usually does have some writing on it.) And with a map we might get an idea how far Cueball and Megan have actually travelled. *see edit*
{I really don't think Cuegan's village is visible from up there, though. They did say earlier that they had a hard time deciding what was sea1 and what was sky1+ after all. Yes that one scope is plenty darn big, but I just don't think it would be big enough.}

Edit
I'm thinking BlueCrab's assumed travel time/distance is a nice ballpark figure. I've always thought we've never been shown every meter/cue of their journey. Nor have we seen every sleep cycle. (We've only been shown enough to let us know what they've gone though.)

cuegan is shouting and coming towards Beanie with a stick. Beanie will think he is about to be hit. Then Cuegan is going to use it as a writing implement.

To me it kinda feels like the Beanies might actually be surveying/studying the sea rise (or whatever is causing it) and this Beanie was just about to show them, before he started being slightly concerned about Cueball's sudden interest in sticks.

Well, unless I'm wrong ;)

Could be that he's going to draw on the ground indeed, maybe that's why Megan's picked up the seat - to make more room for drawings. Still, things are intriguing and I want to see what happens but have to coma soon...

I accidentally touched the last page link rather than the next page link some kvetchingup time ago (while Megs was waiting for Cue to wake up) and NP Pope Buffy was ranting about how you don't overcome a language barrier by pointing and speaking very slowly. Next I saw a Dong - Megs and Cue with some other people near a rickety tower and wondered what brought this obvious fan art Dong out of someone's dreamworld. Oh, is it time to wear beanies now? I have one that I picked up at a gas station mart when I went to vancouver earlier this year (I got it JUST so I could make fun of my canadian friend who always wears beanie hats). Maybe I'll digify it and add it to my list of pending avatar hats for some near-future hatgif.

I thought these things were customarily prepared for a proper iPhone first.

Unfortunately most applications cannot be done on the iphone without jail breaking it. And Live wallpapers is one of these types of applications. You could write an app that does the same thing in an app that you had to open up manually but you could do that with a web page link if you wanted anyway.
