What made Cueball choose to draw in stick figure drawing style?

Also note I was right about him drawing a Time Frame but I was just off by 2655 frames.

This is np2656 he has drawn. http://xkcd.mscha.org/viewer/2656

It seems he's drawn them all as babies, they're all so out of stick-figure proportion. The huge head is supposed to be a third of the body length, not half, Cueball!

Yeah he should have upgraded to dirtshop CS6 so he could draw them much better!

Wow, cueball's doing a great job with that dirtmanip. Better than I expected anyway. Next thing you know, he'll draw a little moving dot at the bottom and then they'll both learn each other's word for molpy!

Yes. It's always "Wait for it".

In which case (I probably skipped over someone else suggesting this), the three Beanons' names are "Wait" , "For" , and "It" .

Which, of course, changes whenever one of them tags another - then they become "It".

This got a literal LOL from me. Then it made me think that whichever one is "It" at the time is either Tim Curry as an evil clown, or the evil brain Meg Murray killed on Camazotz.

Ray Kremer wrote:As long as I'm on such controversial topics, I vote that everything post-fading through to the darkening was one day, and they took a couple mid-day naps. All that walking is a lot of work, I'd want to nap too. Previous nights ("We've been walking for days") occurred during the time skip between sandcastle and when we rejoined our two heroes. (This also suggests all the sandcastle building took place within one day as well.)
I heartily concur with this theory. The fade-out was also a time-cut.

I heartily disagree with this theory (this shouldn't surprise anyone--I've made my stance quite clear on numerous occasions). I especially cite Megan's comment during the night that the other nights were different, as they didn't worry about where they slept, but now they feared the returning raptorcat. Like k.bookbinder, I hike and mountain climb a lot. I've done multi-day hikes, and yes they are tiring, and yes one must rest (besides the 4 earlier sleep occasions, there are numerous other resting moments without sleep), but I've never had to take 4 lengthy naps during a one-day hike. Even if they are inexperienced with hiking, I've brought lots of newbies with my before, and they've never had to either. I simply believe, just like many others have cited, that Randall merely wanted to take the time to show us a full night for once and try something new. Then, after having done that, this last time he only gave us one black frame instead. He switches things up and that's cool, but I think it is far more logical to assume that the hike took multiple days. Furthermore, at the Meolpy attack site, they mentioned being only a day from the top of the mountain, but far enough from home that the one day journey didn't make that much of a relative difference.

Anyway... back to ketching up... Only 3 more NPs!

ETA: Obviously, my lengthy little explanation there was ninja'd pages ago by HES and others.

In Svithjod, there stands a rock. It is 100 miles high and 100 miles wide. Once every 1000 years a little bird comes to this rock to sharpen its beak. One time, I changed just the last sentence of this signature, and lots of you noticed. Image

The OTC is now a drawing of stick figures drawing other stick figures. This is truly stickception.

Now we just need a Beanie to come outside and spin a top.

I'm not exactly sure why Cueball drew the pictures but no words before handing the stick over to the Beanie. Still, it's a pretty photo-realistic drawing. Much as it would have been hilarious if the GLR did a gag similar to the one at the end of this strip from Order Of The Stick:

Edited while posting to add: There's no way that the entire time from Sandcastle until the Long Night was one day, or even that the entire time from the start of the Journey Eon until the Long Night was one day. It flies in the face of Megan's comments about the stars, and about previous sleeps where they weren't frightened, and the numerous times (including once in the Sandcastle Eon) in which our heroes visibly slept. It also flies in the face of the idea that this is a long journey in which they're encountering stuff they've never seen and didn't know about, like the big river. How could all of that be within a few hours walk, allowing for naps, of their home?

It seems clear to me that there have been several sleeps (on and/or off screen) during the journey. The GLR has just never previously depicted them. Arguments that we've never seen the sun set except once are not evidence- the sun has certainly moved throughout the day while they walk, and while they built the sandcastle, and we've never seen any change in the light, so inescapably the GLR has not been bothering to depict the sun's movements most of the time. That isn't evidence of anything.

Oh, whoa! I had absolutely no idea this condition had a name, and never thought that it could be healed! Thanks Ray! The OTT keeps teaching me things about myself I didn't know about.

Gotta watch Hugo 3D, who knows, maybe it'll seriously fix me too!

(Something I haven't seen mentioned in these pages is sharpness - When I see a stereogram in 3D, it doesn't just jump out of the screen, it also looks a lot more sharp and detailed than... everything else, as in, the world and everything looks blurry when compared to stereogram sharpness.

When I'm talking about stereograms, I'm not talking about those with hidden images that have a tiled texture, I'm talking about stereoscopic pictures like this one - after "clicking", not only does it look 3D, it looks much better defined, sharper, and detailed; do people also live in a crisper world? )

Impossible colors
Spoiler:
And for guys that were unable to see impossible colors a few pages back, I have the ultimate solution! Just treat her as you'd treat a stereogram:

Image

De-focus your eyes until you see three girls, then focus on the middle one and voila! Impossibly colored bikini!

(Note: It's not enough to "click", if you see a color flickering from yellow to blue, that's not the color, but keep trying, her right breast is good for this - you'll know when you have it. Sure beats looking at squares with plus signs...)
Go! Go! You can do it username5243!
Cheers Marsh'n!

Meanwhile Beanie is thinking "yeah we know - you're not from round here and we saw you coming up, so obviously you're from down there. Duh."

But it seems to me that Beanie drew that picture. Maybe he wants to know where they're coming from. Right now Cueball is painting down the answer. Perhaps he will draw the sea or rivers.

Okay... so in order to help preserve Beanie culture for future generations, I've made this chart of the Beanish Objects:

AND... this new wiki article about Beanish Objects to identify/categorize each one and our observations about them.

Please check it out and add anything I've missed about them, especially if there are any proposed object identifications people feel strongly about that I've missed.

Excuse me for asking something that might have been discussed, but itis something that bothers me and I don’t have the time to read the entire thread.

Why do people mark utterly uninformative frames such as 1371 as important? Not only a few, but 240 fellow waiters? There are more examples. 2188 has 506 votes as important, although all we see is two or three new pixels. Am I missing something? What is the motivation behind that?

I know that at least 2188 is considered a special frame because of the "edge-molpy" at the left of the screen. This is the first tiny, foreshadowing glimpse we were given of the cat which later attacked them, quite a bit in advance actually. It is easy to miss, but caused quite a lot of discussion and certainly ups the drama and anticipation, knowing that something is following them.

ETA: That said, I agree that there are some frames voted "special" which I wish weren't, as they slow the playback, especially during the "chirp!" period I understand the first few chirps being special, but eventually it really slows the whole thing down to make every single one of them special, when we get the picture already that there is chirping going on.
