The Knighting of monkeygentleman

Certainly!

I, BlitzGirl, Knight Temporal of the One True Comic, bestow upon thee, monkeygentleman, the Knighthood Temporal, in recognition of an ambitious dual-part blitz, clear and hopeful signposts, and the persistence to keep journeying through the long and winding pastpages. Arise, and continue Waiting for it!

I think that the black newpix was just to show another night's passing. As it was only one frame, I think of it more as a transition - the floating bucket and its transitional all-white frames took up several newpix.

Oh good, I'm glad Cuegan is invited to come. Image Image
I wonder if LaPetite will find her way there, too? Image

Black frame at M2693 is when they slept through the night. M2611-M2615 is the flashback to the beach showing how far the sea has risen.

Here's a thought which may or may not be entirely consistent with current findings, and may or may not be accepted. (What? Insecure? Me? Never!)

When I was looking through the font Euphemia for characters from the Beanish text I found a bunch of candidates1, and it struck me that it's very possible that Randall "simply" has assembled a bunch of different, cool/odd looking characters from different sets and then drawn them by hand, ie. he hasn't created them from scratch. If that's the case we should be able to find many/most/all of them by (seaish) searching, and also that would answer questions on whether different characters are the same or not.

1For example: ሥ from Amharic looks kind of like the "M", and ነ could be the "4".

Edit:

It's probably been said before, but I think the reason we see these one-frame nights is that before the stars nights were simply not shown, but not that we have seen one it's necessary to show us all. The night is now a character in the story, but most of the time it has nothing to say. :)

Some ketchup and maybe a little mustard
First, I want to let y'all know I took a page from BlitzGirl and added tags for my Rogues Gallery pics including the ones in my first post to make them "search" easier. I did that when I discovered that kenmelken used one on his "Beanie People" wiki page to illustrate the difference between the three we've seen so far. (Thanks kenmelken, you've made me feel like I've Contributed something Substantial both to this needle-pulled-thing and to the Time Wiki.) The tags I have are "Beanie ID's" (for the main page), "Rogue's Gallery" or "Beanie Gallery 1" for the first line-up. If you put the names in between <> (left-right arrows) instead of quotes you should get just the images (in case some else wants to pull up any of the line-ups).
Second: @TimeLurker: "Happy 200 Posts" to ya fellow! (That didn't seem to take long, did it?)
Third, I've mentioned this before, but since it was brought up again. (@ Whizbang, your post is just the one I'm using to frame my remarks around.)
Whizbang wrote:

Ninja Spoiler:
Spoiler:
When you attach an image to a post, it puts displays a smaller version of the image. Clicking that image will open to a new page with the full image. People have been using the URL of the full image inside the img tags to display the full image in the post. This results in two images displayed in a single post, the full version and a reduced version. People then spoiler the reduced image for easier viewing/skimming and mark the spoiler as redundant, because the full image is already displayed.

I think Blitzgirl started the trend of hiding images in spoilers, asking why people even checked the spoiler if it was redundant. Some people now use the Redundant Spoiler to hide joke images, probably to the annoyance of all but a few.

I actually have to use the "Redundant Spoilers" in order to 'get' the joke, because about half the time all I see is the little "image with an X-ed out monitor" box rather than the actual Image. I kinda do get frustrated when I see someone post "great one", "cool pic" or something and I see is a little box. I do get the actual url when I quote the post, so I guess I could put that in my address box and see where it goes. So I don't mind "Redundant Spoilers". There might be something with my IE browser or anti-virus, I don't know. But, I guess the best thing for me to say is "Keep posting 'redundant spoilers' and keep the 'reduntkitties coming."

And last: current frame m2732: Oh, goody more traveling. Will the Beanies break down their scopes and take them with? Will they have horse-molpies to carry all that stuff?
(I started this well before this frame came up. {gee, now I'll have to do another ketchup once this is posted.)
Edit
(in fact I started this on NP1073)

The Beanies have the building skill required to build quite reasonable structures (also apparently pyramids), and they also have telescopes. Cuegan seems obviously from a contemporary time period also.

So why the **** are they all drawing on the ground with sticks like cavemen? Someone bring out a piece of paper and a pencil. Writing implements are not a new concept.

Hmm, good question! Here's a couple of possible explanations:

1) The ground is just expeditious, especially since Cueball started his drawing there. Similar to doing a napkin sketch at a restaurant table.
2) The Beanies are technologically advanced, but paper is a relatively rare or non-existent commodity. In our world, I'm picturing something like ancient Egypt.
3) The Beanies have plenty of paper and pencils, just not on hand at their current location (maybe they're a survey crew that enters all their field info into the Beanie version of an iPad that's just not really convenient for Cueball to use...)

Even if they have plenty of paper, the sort of drawing they're doing is likely to end up having bits scribbled out (as they've already done) or stretching past the edge of the paper. Dirt and a stick are just as good as chalkboard and chalk, and nearly as good as a whiteboard and markers -- and superior to a bunch of scribbled-out sheets of paper.

Seems to me more like "Two of us are going to go over there and three are going to stay right here". At a deeper level, from these symbols it seems like there is more than language separating Cuegan from the Beanies. Something deep and cultural.

The boss lady wants to meet them?

Actually, I was thinking "They're off to see the wizard," but She Who Must Not be Seen works just as well.

All right... So Cueball are 3-circles, Beanies are 2-triangles, but Beardo is circle-triangle-diamond... Hum.

That could be a good point indeed - but why are Cueball 3 circles, and Beanies 2 triangles...

That's certainly better than my bigfoot/King Kong theory I was Thinking of.

Perhaps the newly drawn figure is revered by them as a god. The circle-lines by M&C signify them as "circle people," the triangles by Ted, Fred, and Ned signify them as "triangle people," and there are some other as yet unseen "square people," and the Beanies think of this person as worthy of rule over all three groups? I don't know. Probably wrong. The fact that the new guy is drawn larger and in full means something though.

Huh. This might be the first Time that a newpix has outright confused me.
And I still have Noah's ark on the brain, which is not helping.

I do think that it's a longhaired, bearded man (his chin is defined by the beard instead of being a continuation of the circle like Megan's head).

I am a particularly Mopey Molpy Mome because I am perplexed by the Beanie's symbols.
No decree - more discussion on this latest newpix would be helpful.

Bump for newpage:

The new guy's hair got me thinking. Maybe this possible-translator is this guy:

And the third language is Lisp.
