This has made me have new thoughts for the soundtrack:

There needs to be a "rising sea" theme which is hinted at in the background ominously throughout, and only comes in fully at THIS point.

We need to take note of the alt-text(s)m:

M1-M2919: Wait for it.
M2920: ...
M2921: RUN.

m Until mscha starts doing it, that is.

Important: I had my frame numbers wrong. Thanks to charlie_grumbles for noticing that! (I came back to fix them from two pages into the future.)

I missed the first alt-text change.

I got a bloody cold chill when I checked the frame and saw "RUN".

There was recently a poll, when a new eon should start. I guess most of us would agree it should start now. ETA: Or forget it. It's too soon to judge.

Go Down, Megan
based on Go Down Moses, trad.

Go down, Megan, way down the bottomland
Save your people before the water flow

The scientist said stay with me, it is much too late
Don't go down to your family, lest you share their fate

And Cueball said "Go down, Megan, with me back to our land
Save our people before the water flow"

So Megan went down to their land, valleys far below
She made the people understand "Water's gonna flow."

Yes Cueball said "Go down, Megan, with me back to our land
Save our people before the water flow"

The scientists all had to wait, in their castle high
And never did they learn their fate, or understand why.

'Cause Cueball said "Go down, Megan, with me back to our land
Save our people before the water flow"

"Save our people before the water flow"
If you're lost you can look--and you will find me
Time after Time...

When I saw the "...", I thought: what if "Wait for it" all along was directed at Cuegan, not us? With the advent of "RUN", that does seem to fit now. I still can't quite piece it together, though -- they couldn't have waited all this time, they had to go in search of answers. That's why I didn't post before.

Who is GLR talking to?

ETA: Pope? Today we're probably setting records for the shortest popeships ever (in both Inside and Outside time), but for the next few minutes... debate the meaning of the new alt-text (you were gonna anyway), preferably explaining all three alt-texts as a coherent sequence.

In the 2004 tsunami in the Indian Sea, a small group of about 50 stone age people survived completely intact because they picked up their babies and baskets and climbed to higher ground at the first sign of danger. I remember thinking how strange it was that we with our instant communications and industrial technology were devastated by this event while this very low-tech culture who had lived there a long time were barely bothered by it. In fact, they threw spears at the helicopter that came to check on them a week or two later. Maybe Cuegan's 40 are like those people.

What would they recognize as a sign of danger? Maybe they did not place the same importance on the rising sea as Cuegan, which would be why Cuegan had to leave without the 40.

I guess I'm hoping La Petite saw the sea rising and told the others in time.

All that walking is a lot of work, I'd want to nap too. Previous nights ("We've been walking for days") occurred during the time skip between sandcastle and when we rejoined our two heroes. (This also suggests all the sandcastle building took place within one day as well.)
I heartily concur with this theory. The fade-out was also a time-cut.

I disagree

The journey from their home (=near sandcastle) is clearly several days. They got their bags and left pretty swiftly, it just doesn't flow well with a timecut during the fade (other than a little travel time whilst the fade was taking place - certainly not 'days')
As has previously been discussed, the detail of the comic has increased over time so the darkening could either have been the first relevant night worth showing, or the first GLR decided to dedicate some time to showing one properly, trying a new idea

Inspired by, but probably not directly related to the above post-quote system.

When we see that there's a timing with the moving starfield (about 6 minutes) and yet they have conversations that shouldn't be separated that much, we can see some issues need fixed. I propose that the speech sometimes happens at the end/beginning of those 6 minute windows, thereby placing them within a couple minutes of each other. With trebuchet shots and fallings the timing is obviously in seconds instead. Can we therefore say that their walking is a certain speed, consistently, and know that it's been days (or more simply 16 hours of awake time (with the 8 hour sleep period missing))?

Secondly, the current black frame (np2693) shows that their sleep periods would/should be marked (this way, or another noticeable way). This should show that when they say "walking for days", those days were during the time skip (a visible frame(s)). Additionally the elevation is probably higher than we calculated. Rivers flow down but only the sea is at "sea level". Therefore the altitude is probably high enough for the cold and air issues M&C have been referencing.

Mmm, more hot fudge sauce...recipe in spoiler
Spoiler:
Hot Fudge Sauce (minimalist version)
Adapted from The Back of the Box Gourmet by Michael McLaughlin
3/4 cup sugar
4 oz baking chocolate
5-oz can evaporated milk
1/3 cup light corn syrup
1/3 cup butter
2-3 teaspoons vanilla extract

Stir the whole time! Combine first 4 ingredients and heat on medium-low. When sugar is melted turn to medium heat if not boiling yet. Cook at a full boil for 1 minute, take off heat.
Add butter, stir to melt, then add vanilla.

Om nom nom

Well, a Diaper Genie is a plastic container rather like a garbage pail which uses a continuous-feed tube of plastic (similar to trash/garbage bags) to hold and isolate used disposable diapers. They've been underground with no windows low enough to see out of for a while, now.

Is there a tidal wave looming over the fortress....?

Prediction: Water starts flowing down the passage (I really hope I'm wrong, here)

... which is why religion is so important to tribes. The ability to believe what sounds like magical nonsense across many generations without evidence will preserve the tribe when that magical nonsense happens to be true, and is often merely a nuisance when it is false. Natural selection would favor tribes with religion.

I like this map4! Cueball said earlier that the other river3 is not much farther from their home than their own river2 at its driest. Since we now know that they live in an area in which fresh water is especially important (heat, very salty sea1), I wonder why this perennial river3 was unknown to them. Furthermore, looking at the map, there should be another perennial river west of their home. Do they know it?

Did it change back to Wait for it between '...' and 'RUN.' ? I never actually saw '...' I just saw "Wait for it." change to "RUN" (seemed to me it did it just before the Newpix change, but hard to tell since there was only Cueball turning his head.)

You know that spot in a good many of the Doctor who episodes, where the Doctor is told that there is nothing to be done, and he and his Companion(s) should be glad that they made it out alive?

Cueball, right now, looks like the Doctor at that point. Are his fists clenched? it looks to me like they are.

And then? Then they run. But not away.....

Note To Blitzers:It is advisable NOT to go past page 1130 until you've seen up to frame 2900 (Geekwagon Numbering). A lot is happening, and really, you do not want to skip ahead at that point.

Someone's gotta start running. *Probably* not them, although who knows what sea level outside the Med basin is -- if it's significantly higher than it is now, future!Marseille is in for some wet basements.
