I think you need a Chirpy bird or w/e the OTT term for them is.

I also like the flag idea. The "bag" should be removed, in my opinion.

When you get to the Hill People's Hills, send out a runner to collect the rest of the Forty. If the Forty are too heavy for the boat, half walk, half ride, alternating.

OK, but why is this better than just walking (or better still, RUNning) up the riverbank? Is the current moving faster than they could jog? Seems like Cuegan would have had a harder time crossing, if so.

All I can think is that Megan is planning to take the raft ALL the way up, somehow. Otherwise, right now, it's just a slower way to hike up the river.

I thought they were on the raft, but now I'm pretty sure they are on the ground and the raft is just behind them; otherwise it would be lower in the water.

Maybe I'm crazy
But it's crazy and it's true
I know you can show me
No one else can show me now but you

As long as the planets are turning
As long as the stars are burning
As long as your dreams are coming true
You'd better believe it

That I would do anything for Time
And I'll be there 'til the final act
I would do anything for Time
And I'll take a vow and seal a pact
But I'll never forgive myself if we don't all wait for it tonight

Maybe I'm lonely
That's all I'm qualified to be

Will you hold me sacred?
Will you hold me tight?
Can you colorize my life?
I'm so sick of black and white!
Can you make it all a little less old?

[Cuegan]
I can do that, oh oh, now I can do that

[Girl]
Will you make me some magic with your own two hands?
Can you build a sand castle with these grains of sand?
Can you give me something I can take home?

[Cuegan]
I can do that, oh oh now, I can do that

[Girl]
Will you cater to every fantasy I got?
Will ya hose me down with seaish water, if I get too hot?
Will you take me places I've never known?

After a while you'll forget everything
It was a brief interlude and a midsummer night's fling
And you'll see that it's Time to move on

[Cuegan]
I won't do that, no I won't do that

[Megan]
I know the territory, I've been around
It'll all turn to dust and we'll all fall down
And sooner or later, you'll be running around

[Cueball]
I won't do that, no I won't do that

Yay Yappo! That's pretty dang sweet. I, of course, am partial to the yurts for the green houses. Maybe the Beanish Castle for the hotel? Although that'd be a bit weird, given that it's a property. The (S.S.) Sandcastle could work too, but it might be a bit complex to make pieces of. :D

I am looking forward to the big reveal at the end of Time, when it is made known that Blitzgirl has been GLR all along. With an elaborately constructed, but fake, online persona to throw us off the scent.

I bet this isn't even a new prediction, but my internal storage is a low lower than the current content of the OTT in bits.

My my. I think we may need two editions of pieces. OK, so how about this list:

Squirpy
Raft
Dildunnerang
Beanie
Flag
Trebuchet
Castle
Bucket

I like the idea of some rather mundane pieces, and some very special pieces. Players often want the fancier pieces, and not getting stuck with the more mundane ones (who fights to get the iron?). Does this seem like a good list for our first edition?

A thought just occurred to me: Right now, the water's very saline. As the ocean flows in, this will cease to be the case. Will their raft still float?

It'd probably still float, but that's a good point; the carrying capacity will go down. (Better get that sand off the top...)

The sea was rising back at the sandcastle - that's why they went to find answers in the first place. So LaPetite could have very logically (but very fortuitously!) been just trying to save the great sandcastle by making it float.

Exactly, in fact, you could see her dragging something into the frame at the end of the fade, probably whatever she ended up using to help the platform float. It does all feel a bit Disney though...

I like the idea of some rather mundane pieces, and some very special pieces. Players often want the fancier pieces, and not getting stuck with the more mundane ones (who fights to get the iron?). Does this seem like a good list for our first edition?

Sounds good to me! I don't think we need two sets...

A simple base would do the trick. Like a smaller version of this:

It'd probably still float, but that's a good point; the carrying capacity will go down. (Better get that sand off the top...)

Well, they know the salinity is dropping (and their assumption is that the ocean is "fresh", rather than simply less salty than their sea), so they probably are keeping this possibility in mind.

Or, for a more specific Time reference, the base could resemble the very top of one of the sandcastle turrets.

Enough to carry a little girl? No problem. For 20 Cueganites it might need some improvements, though...

How did she figure out what was going on and they didn't?

??? Of course they did figure out the sea was rising and about to swallow the castle - that's why they set off on their expedition...

TimS wrote:Does anyone know what the deal is with the water being "too fresh to swim over"? I know that salt water makes you a little more buoyant than fresh water, but it'd take a pretty extreme amount of salt to make the difference between you being able to swim or not. And most wood floats in water, salty or fresh.

It makes me think the "salt" and "fresh" water they're referring to are very different than what we'd call "salt" and "fresh" water. Thoughts?

Other answers have been given, but it was speculated that they (Cuganites) have become more dense over time and so can no longer float in fresh. The no-experience story is probably more accurate, though.

No, it isn't. Why is there so much discussion about this, it's one of the few things that isn't a riddle:

Blind-posting a bit because I just can't resist.

Regarding molpies, this morning I was suddenly strike with the urge to request a custom plate reading "MOLPY UP". This may happen.

Both SCAdians and attendees of Burning Man are known to make use of yurts. SCAdians are likely to be over-represented in any group of people surviving in a quasi-primitive post-apocalyptic world. I have no clue about the others, but at minimum they have the ability to avoid heatstroke in arid climates in their favor.
