Re Blitzgirl's crusade, and people leaving, I have an OTTification....

Blitzgirl's song
(Gollum's song)
Spoiler:
Where once was light
Now darkness falls
Where once was ONG
ONG is no more
Don't say goodbye
Don't say I didn't try

These tears we cry
Are falling rain
For all the filks you sang us
The Joy, the games
And we will weep to be so alone
We are lost, we can never go home
So it's The End
I'll See what I will See
No loyal friend
Will not unbasemented be
Now Don't say goodbye
We say you didn't try

These FakeoNGs we try
Have come too late
Take back the lies
The hurt, the pain
And you will weep
When you're the basement alone
You are lost, you can never go home
You are lost, you can never go home
“have i gone mad?
im afraid so, but let me tell you something, the best people usualy are.”

jjjdavidson wrote:I feel awful. For the first time in nearly 600 posts, I posted somewhere other than the OTT. For only my third Outside post since I joined the fora, I posted on yesterday's What If? (A day and a half since it went up, and not even a full page of posts? What's wrong with those people?) It actually made my stomach hurt to hit "Submit"; I feel like a traitor, like BlitzGirl's molpy army should come and trample me. But I couldn't help it ─ someone was wrong on the internet!

Kieryn wrote:Okay, I'm thinking about an idea for a meetup... We're across the world, so I was thinking maybe a 5 city meet, with Skype used to unite the cities.

The 5 places I had in mind were:

USA, west coast (San Francisco?)
USA, east coast (NYC?)
Europe (Marseille. Of course)
South America (?)
australia (?)
Spoiler:
Of course the exact locations/cities might be adjusted depending on proximity / level of interest, and maybe we could add one or two more.

For the date, I suggest the anniversary of The End (July 26th 2014) with something like this timing to avoid the 4am curse.

I'm suggesting the end rather than the beginning because July tends to be more a time of year for traveling and such anyway.

Let me know what y'all think. If there isn't too much objection, I will start setting something up more official. The earlier it's planned the better the chance of people showing up IMO

Is there anyone besides me in the middle of the U.S.? I'm roughly midway between SF and NYC; as the chirpy flies I'm actually closer to Winnipeg or Mexico City. Would anyone want to come to a meetup in New Orleans or Austin (or maybe Minneapolis, since we're talking July)?

I’m in a “flyover” state too—not that I’d likely be free to come to a meetup, but we can dream.

My father explained how it worked, but I didn't like that, so I decided I didn't want it to believe it. Just last night, between blizting sessions, I was perusing a Myers-Briggs book, which suggested that NF types, when they come across an unpleasant fact, will tend to simply deny it, while SF types will tend to accept it and move on.

“I reject your reality and substitute my own!”

Oh—and rather than multi-post or risk time-outs on replies, I have taken to opening a document where I can cut-n-paste replies, which also allows me to save other notes as necessary.8

Yeah... I was thinking in a more Tolkienesque sense though. They certainly rescue hobbitmolpies...

Are hobbitmolpies canon in the OTT, or are they just a rumor or legend?

I do like how the blindposters and blitzers are scattered hither and yon across the OTT, much as I suspect various survivors in the OTC are scattered hither and yon across the sea1.

As we await the newpix
You'll forget the sun in his Outside sky

It showed me some posts; Aren't they all good, like WOWtree wood?

They asked me to stay and they told me to post anywhere,
So I looked around and I created my own things to share.

I joked and I hugged, talking 'bout Time, and it was so fine.
With frames that were new: things to be read, 'til coma in bed.

I loved all the filks, the stories, the pictures, and graphs.
The humor, the science, the fine arts, and even the math!

And then I awoke, I was alone -- the comic had flown,
But still I'll remember: Wasn't it good, like WOWtree wood?

I've just read the Blasphemy of the Newpage and Centapage time measurements. These were rejected by the early church as they are not constant, the only constant being TimeFrames! (Which wasn't so constant after-all)

Having popped back to the future for a bit, it looks like the OTT is slowly withering... Say it ain't so!
It sure would be sad to get to the future several Outside months from now to find I have been the only one posing for several newpages!!!
16.288% blitzed (I can't believe it went backwards!): Wait for me!
At the moment I calculate my blitz-percentage based on the total number of newpages (which of course continues to rise). Perhaps I should base it on the number of the newpix we do not mention (1254) instead? Opinions?

That was lovely! I kinda started hearing it to music... I might turn this into a song at some point if that's alright with you.

Feel free! I had a little rhythm-melody going in my head as I wrote it - it's treeish that you picked up on that, Image !

It sure would be sad to get to the future several Outside months from now to find I have been the only one posing for several newpages!!!

I think it's an illusion - sure there are fewer posts and it's a lot slower since T** E**, but it's only because there are no longer new frames to comment on, or a continuing story to speculate on. Even though the quantity of posts has gone down, the quality has I think gone way up! There's more ottifications and creative outbursts occuring than ever before, we can barely keep up! Every other post contains something creative and awesomeful!

ETA: Post 777! Treeish. I like the number 7.

Yeah, I'm not sure why it is that I've been doing such sad songs lately. I'm mostly recovered from the frame Once know as M. Tom Riddle. I just OTTify the songs that come to mind with a given post. Maybe I should do "It's a small OTT after all"... Nah. though it'd be happier, it'd also probably drive me quite insane.

I just made two Spotify playlists for your enjoyment. Well, at least I had fun creating them:

The "Time" playlist (on Spotify)
The "Lucky" playlist (on Spotify)

I chose mostly songs that I was familiar with and liked. (I said mostlyI)

For those of you who can't or don't want to use Spotify, the track listings are in the spoiler. Others, don't look! Actually, the best surprise would be to listen the music without knowing what's coming next, but that's not easy.

OK, here's the third installment of my "Last OTT filk" -- an oldie with only a few lyrics that tries to put a less-mopy (no, not "molpy") spin on the End of Time:

I'm Free
(to the tune of "I'm Free" by The Who)

I'm Free; I'm free!
And freedom tastes of reality.
I'm free; I am free...
No more new "Time" from x-k-c-d.

If I told you what it takes
to keep up and reply
with all the OTT -- it's not that simple!
Yes, I had to read it ALL, before;
Now my sanity will be restored;
"Time's" no longer my commanding temple!

I'm Free; I'm free;
And freedom tastes of reality.

I'm free; I am free!
No more new "Time" from x-k-c-d.

My ketchup post that I meant to post last nip, but coma overtook me. Hm, a bit seaish, think I'll do two smaller posts.

Hello! I heard that! Explain yourself!&

(Hey, I'm sure there's lots of stuff in the OTT you futurefolk haven't read yet. Now would be the time. I've been blitzing since the Fading, and still have about 500 NP of OTT to read for the first time. I'm sure I'll be moved to comment on some of that stuff. Not much. Perhaps not very witty. But litter!?)

I know, right? But I think jovialbard was just being melancholy.

Flado wrote:Also, I think we should help BlitzGirl (and other OTTers who need help). IRL.

I would absolutely be ready to help any OTTers in need, if there is ever an occasion, and a mechanism to do so.

bmonk wrote:I am in the same quandry. 500 or so pages back, and only able to blitz 8-10 or so pages in a sitting. :(
But still I blindly blitz.

And, according to the stats, this is my 40th post in the OTT. When does one become an official OTTer

Slow or fast, a blitz is a noble quest. And have no fear, you are absolutely an OTTer, and a TimeWaiter. Chirp, you can be a Knight Temporal if you want.

ucim wrote:Yes, a real meetup could be fun. As the photographer said, let's see what develops.

Groan. Truly awfulsome! And thanks for posting the Prayer of BlitzGirl. It is always wise to meditate upon those words in times of trouble ("Mother BlitzGirl comes to me, speaking words of wisdom...") Think that's be done before, actually.

jjjdavidson wrote:I feel awful. For the first time in nearly 600 posts, I posted somewhere other than the OTT.

Don't feel bad. The OTT is not exclusive in any sense of the word. We welcome all, and all are welcome to post elsewhere. But you'll always have a home here. I know I've been ninja'd on that, but it bears repeating.

Por mí cuello, sí.

OK, neither the wiki page nor Google translate is helping me to get this. It says that "Por mí cuello" is "Down my neck," and that "coelho" is rabbit. :? If it's a joke that I would get if I'm fluent in Spanish, I should point out that I am SO not fluent in Spanish. :)

Yes! I've been saving the CAD files and making them the correct (estimated) size for game pieces. I haven't gotten anything 3D printed before so I'm not sure about limitations like minimum feature sizes, etc. but they exist and could be modified if needed.
