Some raptorbeast has apparently uprooted that tree in the latest ONG. Cuegan must defeat it quickly before it destroys all trees, everywhere!

Creativity is probably the word you were going for. Artisticity isn't a word, but should be.

It's quite a riverish tree. Wouldn't take a raptorcat to bring it down.

Sudden realisation that the end of exams means there's another dozen people I'll never see again in my life. Oh.

ETA: speaking of movie tie-ins (referring back to Mr M's ITYS), 4Music has been showing a series of godawful monster horror films lately. Mega Piranhamolpy, Mega Snaaaaake! vs Gatoroid, Mega Raptorshark vs Crocosaurus, and 2-headed raptorshark attack. The radiation is worse than we thought!

BlitzGirl wrote:That question sounds familiar, Jose. :) I think Angelastic had a good response back then.
Well, the answer ultimately was "it's an idiom". The attributive noun applied to "word play", but not "play on words". And yes, you could probably guess the meaning, especially in context, but I'm surprised that the use of "play" in that sense is so rare (just that one phrase) that it never made its way into the printed lexicon.

It still vexes.

http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=play says "play on words" is from 1798.
I'm wondering if "play on words" isn't itself a play on words, since one meaning of play is "free or unimpeded motion (as of a part of a machine); also : the length or measure of such motion" So, by playing with the play in the meaning of words, one can create a play on words.

Aww

Is there a language (besides OTTish) in which "molpy" or something like it is a word?

Or any OTTish words that are real words/similar to real words in other languages?

Can I make this a decree since the 'bot didn't post one and I'm second?

Seems reasonable to me. In fact, there's a clear precedent: on NP1861, second-poster ChronosDragon added a "pseudodecree" after the newpixbot pope.
(Or "sudodecree," which seems punnish, but its connection to the famous Othercomic 149 takes it beyond reproach.)

For the new sudodecree, there's actually a RELATEDly-titled bit of internet lore known as Ong's Hat.

All: Thanks for the feedback on my score! I'd welcome any further criticisms, the piece is still highly in development. One change I have decided to make is to stretch the longer dialog frames to a few seconds each, to make them more readable; this will have the side effect of changing the frame numbers, so I am creating a new frame numbering system1, where dialog frames get a few duplicates each.

Anyway, it probably earns you an interpretive dance of elaborate sandwich-making motions, or something.

For sudodecree: Urban Dictionary thinks "steakish" means "lazy" for some reason.

"Malpa" (with regular 'L'), plural "malpy" is also a Czech word for capuchin monkey. I didn't know that it means just "monkey" in Polish but the words are most likely somehow RELATED.

My two companions are known around here and have a good track record. It's said they once single-handedly defeated an Eastern army, though no one is sure of how. So, at least they can deliver what they promised.

We've started to outline a plan. We'll be greatly outnumbered in both people and weapons; a mistake or unforeseen circumstance will surely mean certain death for all of us. It's a pretty slim, almost null, chance of success.

Lunch looks tasty. We'll eat, then set off southwest. The boys say they know a place we can sleep at. It's an old structure from before the War, so I guess I'll be taking a look at it.
