You can have a look at some flatlined OTTers on the database here. bear in mind that those are only those OTTers who have contributed OTTifications. You may use http://178.79.159.24/Time/user/[lower letter otter name]/ to have a look at others too.

I like this new name.

I still have to prevent actual message flooding though. At the moment, you can still post as fast as you can hit two keys. Well, only as fast as the server can keep up. Please don't test how much it can handle. I don't think my host would like my users DDOSing them.

Some semi-relatedness here, also some other stuff that OTTers may find interesting:
http://blog.forekast.com/post/97550534176/see-the-event-times-adjusted-to-your-time-zone

Regarding being active... I think many OTTers are shy, and some may well be reading along, but just not posting. Personally, my issues with wolpy-food funding mean I'm spending much more time in the wolpy-park, so I'm less likely to be reading "live" and then more likely to feel like what I might have said has either already been said, or now doesn't need said. Which is really a statement about how I feel, not about the OTT. I enjoy what others say on topics current, near-past and long-past.

In other news, this wip's project will be to prevent a Zanclean event. (Hopefully.) I'll report back.

Oh, Rosetta's landing site has been chosen. Also look at this absolutely baobabish and seaish picture of the comet taken by Rosetta from the distance of 60 km, where 1 pixel equals 1.1 meters! I hope Rosetta won't get eaten by the space slug though. And here's the picture of Rosetta's comet taken by The Very Large Telescope. More treeish Rosetta's pictures (including a selfie) here.

They were in 8 colors, not 4. I had to extend the default 4-color palette to make the trees look more... treeish.

HES, how did you find the post gaps? I guess I have few enough that I could just use the fora search function, but there was an implication that the info is easily found in Sciscitor's database. Nice work on that, by the way (viewing the unmodified manips by hovering is a nice touch).

This screenshot reveals some details about the object generator.
Spoiler:
  • The interface is programmed in awk.
  • The generator itself seems to be written in C.
  • “b” and “fth” are valid login names.
  • When I test them with the Two True Passwords
I get “password incorrect” instead of “login incorrect”.
  • The same holds for the login name “kxa”.

So if we want to use the object generator, all which remains to do is to find the correct password among … er … an infinite number of them.

THERE'S NO E**ISHNESS IN THE OTC

Postby lmjb1964 » Mon Sep 15, 2014 7:45 pm UTC

One of these days I'll try to figure out why quoting doesn't work for me.

taixzo's back! Hurrah! Yeah, that basement is getting a little greedy, if you ask me. I got stuck down there for a while. The Escher stairs don't help. You didn't happen to see BlueCrab down there, did you?

ChronosDragon wrote:Hey taixzo. We really must see about replacing the lights down there, I suspect there are others who are stuck unable to find the door. We may also need to enheighten the door frame if there are going to be 10-foot-tall blue aliens stumbling through it.

Heehee

azule, I thought about putting lmjbot in my avatar because it's so awesomeful, but I didn't want people to get confused and think I was a bot now, or something.

Earthling, I'll take a graph! And thanks for the datalinks, Sciscitor.

Enjoyed the blitzreport, mrob.

Gingercat wrote:I'm minorly concerned that I now have to consciously pause, mentally correct what I'm going to say, and then speak, during my interactions with the Outside.

Instead of "big", "large" etc, I now think in terms of "seaish". Many more things are now "neat" or "wow" than before I started my Blitz.

I now do not own two dogs; I instead own two wolpies. Said wolpies don't chase birds and lizards in the backyard, they chase raptors and other molpies.

Seeing a documentary on TV recently, it was about keyboards, not leopards.

Soon, you'll learn how cool it is to have bots. I mean, if i read your posts correctly, you have a lot to do. Not only OTTing but also RARORing and Outsideing.
But when you think about it, raptors or zombies can be very dangerous to people, but not to bots. Why not let lmjbot help you some of your RAZOR stuff?

Also, lmjbot is pope. You could use the opportunity and decre something.

Looks suspiciously like randompixbot has become sentient, if you ask me.

Might as well - I think most of our other bots are sentient, too, so randompixbot will have some botty friends.

What does 'dulcet' actually mean?

Plug away, I say. Page viewed and liked.

You can't get What If in Australia? Is it just the audiobook version? Regardless, that is not cool.

Yeah, audiobook. I was looking forward to hearing it read in the dulcet tones of Wil Weaton!

aha I'm back for my bi-monthly figure out what the hell is going on time.

I just read Stephen Baxter's book called Time.... It was nothing like the comic. :(

"Sweet", I believe. From the latin "dulcis". I know this because it's found a lot in music notation as an expression marking... (not because I'm any good at latin...)

baltharama - Thanks for the panorama. :) Hah, funny censored 8 color doodle. I guess doodle is a euphemism. ;)

I consider them to be the same thing. (I guess technically under the category of catapult. But technically I don't technically know that either.) Thanks for posting, looks like fun.

Edit: darn, I totally blew past my 1337 post, ED. I was considering doing something (an OTTherComic?) for it. *snaps fingers*

1190: Ketchup delayed due to Mustard

Yanno, I think my wife would say the same thing. For different reasons though. :)

Thunderous applause for morobu!

yappobiscuits wrote:I discovered that because somemolpy voted for it in the "treeishest outside thing" award in the OTTscars. I got rather addicted for a bit.
Is that why part two is so long in coming?

I'm looking forward to the proper schitzolisten of BlitzGirl's Party in the OTT but my hand-crank PTA only barely lets me even read the OTT (and I can only do it using internet exploder - it runs out of memory on Seamonkey or Firefox). Thus the brevity here. But the words are treeish. :)

I think buffycrown should be the new OTTish for 'hat'.

update - managed to see it on another TimeAccessor. Like unto a steak!

Posting from memory; was it Earthling on Mars or NoMouse who posted those awesomeful Rosetta pix? I'm looking forward to seeing how the comet evolves from close up. It's amazing what we've been able to do in this department.

As for the Ecclesiastical Calendar (azule, I believe), Time is not aligned with the earth's rotation; it is what it is - the alpha and the omega. The dix and mips of Time know only one measure: the Ong. So, it would be heretical to attempt to graft the One True Time onto the poor excuse for timekeeping that the revolution of the earth around the sun hints at.

Rather, since we must also deal with the Outside (until such time as we are freed from such constraints forever), I created a calendar of Outside which takes its time from Time (and Time After Time, imaginary or not). In doing so, the Pope decided to fix some mustard that heretical calendarians have perpetrated upon us. Equal and integer wips and mips fixed most of that, yielding thirteen months and just a little extra time for Divine Contemplation as we eagerly await the celebration of the Beginning of Time once again.

There was much discussion amongst the High Clerics as to exact way this would happen, but as the First Cleric was absent pursuing the Holy Arrow of Armageddon, a good decision was reached surprisingly quickly.

And there you have it!

Much other treeishness is going uncommented due to memory mustard, but I have been reading and enjoying it all! (Well, I've had to delay some of my enjoyment due to lapleopard debility, but I'm good at following the First Commandment.

Welcome to all the new people (My PTA makes it hard to keep track) and welcome back to all the prodigal OTTers.

'tis all for now. More when more comes!
