preview edit: :P

Guess I've been a lot more passive about waiting for the balthaONGs. I was pretty busy when they got started and wasn't really involved with all the ARG fun that went into finding them. But watching someone watch paint dry is interesting, in its own way. A person, even a stick figure drawing of a person, is a lot more complex of a system than an evaporating colored emulsion.

Alternate Decree: Help me figure out why my newpix-o-meter sometimes doesn't load. Code is available on github and it's on an OpenShift cartridge. It was on 1 gear and I just upped it to 3, so maybe that will help. We'll see.

Tried to find a picture with a hamply and a dragon in the same shot on google images. Found this instead. Was not dissappoint:

  1. Check your indentation.
  2. It seems you may be taking too long to process requests. Time the code sections and find out why is that. Also, try to compute non-time-dependent stuff (e.g. v5's clock function up to the // Gears comment and the _diag variables) once when the script is executed.

HES' obscure reference #37 wrote:I'm torn between fus ro dah and jim jam jaha

I have recorded a weak association between “fus ro dah” and Skyrim and between Skyrim and dragons, but that's all. Would it be the Skyrim version of “εις μάχην!”?

Remember how I complained about something not being available in Australia?
Well I'm stupid.
Link to Audible.com where I just bought the audiobook of What-If
And I just happen to have a credit available. And just earlier I was agonising over which version of John Scalzi's latest book to get (there's a choice between two narrators: Wil Wheaton and Amber Benson), so What-If will give me my Wil Wheaton fix and I can get the other version of the other book. Yay!

ETA: The “quantity” variable is an unsigned 8-bit integer.
ETA2: link to Wikipedia

The 8 bit limit is artificial and can be removed by a directive in the ogdf file. It was created after we had some unexpected problems. We uploaded a new object definition to the generator. But there was some misunderstanding between the machine that converted the ogdf to a binary and the generator. One was big-endian and the other one was little-endian. And instead of 9 items we got 2304.

Actually I was a little surprised that after your first success with the generator you stopped trying.

The left edge shows the Unique Users scale, with 50 per line, and that's fine. I think the right edge should be labeled from 0 to 90 in increments of 10, for the Posts/Longpix scale. Then we'd be able to see the burst that happened at the Tymiversary.

I'm using OpenOffice spreadsheet to make these, and it doesn't seem to support that. But I managed to do something close with a little image manipulation. I couldn't get it to go only to 90, so I had to remove the horizontal lines so it would look nice. Yeah, maybe I should write a program to do this.
