The only way then is fixing the phpBB BBCode parser. But I doubt the One True Webmaster davеan would let us do that.
That isn't even part of phpBB core, it is a quick hack I added ages ago for some subforum or other. Just a custom BBCode tag with some JS attached. It could easily be improved. Just send a patch or something.
Just summon me again, or better yet email it.
