...XE'S A FEW SPOILERCAKES SHORT OF A REVEALER THE RECENT

Postby lmjb1964 » Tue May 05, 2015 7:16 pm UTC

Finally blitzed the mrobdex stories, with great enjoyment. Tried doing a little analysis to look for puzzles, but the only thing that caught my eye was "Barely Feasible Technological Feat." Wonderful stories, mrob! Can't wait to see what happens with all this apparent Sustainabilizing.

II think I forgot to say how much I enjoyed Caprice's latest song.

SBN, good luck with the unpacking of the not-gotten-rid-of stuff. I really need to get rid of stuff in my house, not because I'm moving but because I can hardly move in my house, it's so full. (It's really not that bad; I'm not a hoarder. Just a slob. :) )

The thread is rather quiet. Probably has something to do with the fact that both HES and BlitzGirl have been away. :D Well, we'll keep the OTT fires burning for 'em.

I actually checked this time, and this one hasn't been done.

Interesting big-cat vid Eternal Density. I then went on to the big cats vs lasers one, because lasers. It's no surprise that most big cats don't care; they have lasers themselves.

We OTTers don't seem to be all that proactively-notice-ing-ish. Perhaps it's the whole Wait For It mentality. ("If something is confusing, I'll just Wait for it to become more clear.") Witness all the things @SilentTimer thought would be noticed right away but were not (and a few things vice-versa).

It's surprising your keyboard didn't slash you in return. But I did guess that you had just smashed your leopard, which was the reason for my ":?" smiley. Those five letters are well-placed for a leopard-smash.

bOTTeriada goes ONG

Postby balthasar_s » Wed May 06, 2015 4:11 am UTC

the mrONGbdex story continues.

Code: Select all

the two bOTTifactors packed their bags in secret, to be ready, when the time came, to repair to their ships where they had been parked near the great wall.
Meanwhile miracles were taking place in the threads, particularly in the "anything goes" area for general-interest topics. Members accustomed to drab inquiries about news stories or yesterday's match suddenly discovered the appeal of poetry, both parodic and satirical, combining the most serious bits of one recent post with the most ludicrous or hilarious bits of another. On @@Gursagar's forum the flamers joined in, occasionally forgetting to flame, or vowing to do so later, after a verse or two; in @@Simidirkar's forum the trollers began to appreciate posting as a purpose in and of itself, recognising that a response was just as good as no response at all. Another thread devoted to ponies soon flourished into a songwriting tournament, and its long-entrenched flamers, suddenly and thoroughly immersed in cuteness, very nearly laughed. Somehow or other, as a result of this incident, Mod Madness was declared, and all users, grumbling and LOLing, but somehow neither flaming nor trolling, slowly moved from thread to thread, enjoying each new topic more than the last. MRW comments now commonly linked to GIFs that did not merit an NSFW tag -- a first in the planet's history.
The law of Gontalmannas proceeded to work with inexorable logic. As bOTTification led to bOTTification, in proportion there developed an aesthetic sense, which reached its apex at the level of the stage musical comedy with full sets, costumes and orchestral score; three such productions had progressed through readings, workshops, and previews and were about to open in the planet's long-neglected theatres, streamed live on the fora of course. The critics and pundits, traditionally given over to flaming and trolling, found it hard to say anything in the least bit

I apologize: my sand had a relapse. I'm still wandering the bottom floor wondering if there's a sump pump.

Hey, speaking of the basement, I googled something last week and on the page of the answer, in an otherforum, was a familiar name - that of a long-basemented OTTer. His location suggested that the name was no coincidence. If I register for the otherforum and PM him there to say hi, is that too creepy?

Depends on how you phrase it, I suppose... "Oh hey, totally not stalking you or anything, but I've finally found you" vs "Hi, I was reading through this otherforum when I noticed a familiar name"

Generally speaking, no. It is molpish to greet another OTTer, espescially when done in PM anyway. It may be creepy depending on the content of the otherforum though. :D

Postby yappobiscuits » Wed May 06, 2015 2:29 pm UTC

So I think it's pretty clear that the future parts of the OTTscars as written by me are not going to happen ever. So here is what I propose - I'm looking for someone to take over and write the remaining parts. I'll send over all the relevant materials (BlitzGirl's award artwork, and obviously the raw results) to the new writer and they will then continue where I left off in Part 1. Obviously for continuity reasons they will need to take some influence from what I've already written but it'd be great if they were to make it their own in some way.

ucim, would you perhaps be up for it, since what I wrote was inspired by your AOTC writings in the first place? Or anyone else?

CEILING NEWPIXBOTTIFICATION IS WATCHING YOU WAIT FOR IT

Postby lmjb1964 » Wed May 06, 2015 8:35 pm UTC

It would be wowterful to get a PM from an OTTer on an OtherForum, especially if it starts out with the greeting Zooman suggested.

By the way, my punsaw is now in the shop. The repeated attacks on that hard shell of Zooman's was too much for it. :(

I would love to take on the OTTscars. But considering I still have published any more chapters of The Molpy Hunter, I don't think I would be any more raptorcattish.

My sand is disorganized. I've been meaning to buy a new one for about a yip now, but haven't gotten around to it. Really should before mine comas permanently.

TimeAfterTime Revisited – t1i-1025

I WILL NOT SPOILER THIS WUNGISHNESS -- IT IS RIVERISHNESS -- ongomome
Image
Spoiler:
Wait for it.

Did you notice …
… what Ms. Frizzle is doing?
Spoiler:
Ms. Frizzle is turning a crank lever to extend the forward end of the pole.
Cuegan ImageImage turned around on their seats so they can see it better.
(They did that for the third time. If Ms. Frizzle had placed Cuegan closer to the tower they could have watched everything without turning time and again. However Ms. Frizzle was too excited about her presentation to think of such details, and Cuegan are polite and don't complain.)

and yet another part of me just screams, all the time!

Postby ergman » Wed May 06, 2015 9:44 pm UTC

Part of me really wants to take on the OTTscars, because I love the scenario Yappo set up, and because I need to work on my dialogue.
But then another part of me remembers I have a good number of school projects going on as well as a personal project that I suppose should take priority.
I guess if nobody else is more willing...
I made my avatar, Buffygirl hatted it, Yappo smileyed it and ggh taroted it!
I've changed, witnessing this thing so beautiful

Good luck on blitzing, katakissa, username5243, musthavebeenmykarma, iskinner, thunk, GnomeAnne, and quantized ! Keep the signposts coming, we love em in the now!

Megan Image is looking backwards to see how Ms. Frizzle operates the device. She also admires the high quality of the Beanish ropes.

Spoilered for unrequested advice:
Spoiler:
Rooting is the first step, right? So just do that, and while you're still debating the cyanification, you can do some more research on CM to gain confidence in whatever it is you're concerned about.
(If you want my opinion, I'd say CM looks good. It is publicly developed, has a huge user base, offers many releases with support so you can lag a year or two behind the bleeding edge if you want/need to, and uses a great colour for its logo. I think the fact that it has been commercialised (Cyanogen OS) helps proves that CyanogenMod is a viable option for the mainstream and is here to stay.
Oh, and the launcher is called "Trebuchet". Image Isn't that a good enough reason?)
