I cannot unsee the cello. Not the best underwater instrument. Yeah, I finally got the bass joke, but it took me a while.

Another instrument you could play under water is the submarimba.

This calls for a jolly sailor song:

What shall we do with the sunken cello,
What shall we do with the sunken cello,
What shall we do with the sunken cello,
Early in the morning.

Drain all the sea so we can retrieve it,
Drain all the sea so we can retrieve it,
Drain all the sea so we can retrieve it,
Early in the morning.

ETA: Oops, I did it again. Papal decree: name or post a picture of an instrument used underwater in The Little Mermaid (Disney film; I am not quite sure of the English title).

I'm not sure draining the sea will be necessary:

I had fun with the online password poem generator that DrSamCarter linked to. It took me only a couple of tries to get a poem with coherent meaning:

A cabin bookmaker Bibi
accepted business guarantee.

... although I think the rythm stutters. "BOOK-mak-ER bi-BI" doesn't sound natural, but maybe Bibi is French. And a stuttering rythm makes the password harder to crack, he he!

And I liked mrob's generated

Obsessive Quincy's pyramid

That's a good band name.

And one near the end makes sense if one just removes an 's', to get

Description milks geographer

That could be the headline of a news story about the hardships of a mapmaker: designing the map legend is tiresome and really milks all the energy of the geographer.

ETA: just got this from the generator on the DrSamCarter site. Definitely film noir:

The yellow Shirley Silverstone
extravagant again alone.

The DST change (or winter time, as we call it here) has nothing to do with it, I'm pretty sure. Newpixbot is aware of it, at least. (And the note that newpixbot passed on to me was written well before the change anyway.)
I don't think Time had any DST issues. Its complete run occurred in RDT; although much of Europe switched to summer time at np262.

ETA: I can't believe that the forum software still needs DST to be manually turned off in the your profile. It's 2015 2, for Randall's sake!

I guess the problem on such international forum is that every country changes DST on different date, some countries don't use it at all and countries like Australia change it in the opposite direction. And I'm not sure you can rely on the timezone settings either - I would guess the dates differ even within the same timezones (well, that has to be true, since timezones spread from northern hemisphere to southern hemisphere).

But that problem has been solved – by letting someone else deal with the intricacies.

But that would mean everyone would have to fill in what country they are in (or what country they feel they're in) . You can't rely on IP addresses can you?

You still need to ask the user what time zone xe is in (just like the forum does now), but instead of using those old-fashioned time zone names like “[UTC + 1] Central European Time, West African Time”, it should use tzinfo names like “Europe/Amsterdam”.
(Alternatively, it can try to do client-side time zone calculations using Javascript (like I do here).)

Oh, ok then, you're the expert here. I was going to say that some people will still not take the time to set the correct time zone (or change it if it automatically chooses wrong time zone) but then I realized those people wouldn't really care whether they have the DST set correctly.

You helped Addams stay in her home, and gave her a better life. She thanks you, and so do I.

mscha and NoMouse wrote:(talking about time zone thing)

Why not just use "[UTC] … Greenwich Mean Time" all the time, and never change it? I've been doing that since I joined this thread, because this is a global community. It's pretty easy to make the adjustment in my head on the rare occasion that I care, and the newpix converter script works well with UTC.

Finally! I was getting afraid that the ParallelONGs *ded.

Having the ONGs stop for a while was useful, because I wasn't waiting for a 1-newpix delay and then making wild and probably inaccurate guesses about what part of the world the ONGs are coming from. :D Maybe it will happen again next wipend.
