NOOOO THEY BE SACRIFICING MY OTTERCOMICS

Postby mrob27 » Sat Jan 09, 2016 4:27 am UTC

Eternal Density wrote:There's an attached image that appears under the redundant spoiler instead of inside it.

Fixed now, thanks! (I feel silly, it's been so long that I forgot this was the original meaning of the word "redundant" in the OTT.)

slinches wrote:I don't think that methodology would work very well here. A "woosh" reply would generate discussion about treebuckets and wowterfalls and the rest would just be taken literally.

Better yet, plenty of things are said that are a "woosh" to me (they go over my head), and plenty of things I say are a "woosh" to others. So yes, an OTTerWooshBot would just make things more normal. All of its utterances would become new OTToMemes which would be completely inscrutable to others.

Yay, an OtherComic about a bot, after one about bots!
I only just remembered to read it a few minips ago.

Yesterdip I spent some time in the sea (or rather the South Pacific Ocean), and I spent even more time there todip. Well over a longpix.
I observed the following facts:
1. The sea is big
2. It does what it wants
3. Pthuh! Yuck
4. When you're enjoying being in the sea, you don't have time to build sandcastles
5. A Zanclean amount of water dripped out of my nose afterwards

Also I don't really like Javascript, but I do like it better than Java. Just not nearly as much as Python.
Also I am eating bananananana M&Ms from a bag.
Play the game of Time! castle.chirpingmustard.com Hotdog Vending Supplier But what is this?

I don't understand what the Beanies are doing. But I can safely say it's insanely unsafe.
Time. The final frontier. These are the voyages of Cueball and Megan. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.

They're of lower density than the fluid they are in, so they rise. Or rather, they appear to rise because the fluid experiences a stronger gravitational pull.

BETTER THWAP MY OWN ICE CREAM

Postby lmjb1964 » Sun Jan 10, 2016 10:38 pm UTC

That's a good question. I thought it was the result of bot-welding, but apparently not. And I didn't realize the aquabots could rise, although it makes sense that they could. So far they seem to have just been scooting around on the bottom.

Did the Beanies really think they could repair the dam with those riverish plan(c)ks? That seems just plain silly, not to mention, as others have, ridiculously dangerous.

Regarding the Beanish, I wonder if it means something like,
"Is the water going to break through now?"
"Some time today."

Loved the OtherComic, SilenTImer!

Edited to fix attribute.

If the Beanies are attempting to repair the dam, they'd do better to try covering the breach from the otter side.

It's pretty easy to see them rising in AluisioASG's video. The first obvious example is the one on the right-hand side that rises during (approximately) frames 505 to 518.

Nah, Shortbean just fancied surfing the leak, but the seaishly burbulent flow ripped the board out of her hands.

the place they just welded is still hot, so it still evaporates some stuff and that stuff is the bubbles.
I'm a science.

Maybe the robot civilization is the result of our newpixbots going rogue and attempting to bring about the events of Time by damming the Gibraltar Strait.
I made my avatar, Buffygirl hatted it, Yappo smileyed it and ggh taroted it!
I've changed, witnessing this thing so beautiful

Good luck on blitzing, katakissa, username5243, musthavebeenmykarma, iskinner, thunk, GnomeAnne, and quantized ! Keep the signposts coming, we love em in the now!

Current OtherComic.

Maybe the ongoing bubbles show that the wall pieces are still hot from the welding? But if the botmarine is welding the pieces together, it's not doing a very good job, since there's still a gap between the two rightmost pieces.

Partly preview-ninja'd by ergman! Hi ergman! :D
Wait on.

I miss BlitzGirl too.
Yesterday I had a dream about BlitzGirl.

(In my dreams people always speak Polish. Even if they're foreign people they almost always speak Polish too. But at some point I may notice that something is wrong...
This already happened twice with related dreams and even more with unrelated ones. Also, it's not the first dream with BlitzGirl in it.)

I was on a sandy road on a small hill on an empty field. It was very sunny. On the right side of the road was a small wall made of stone about 1m tall. BlitzGirl was sitting on the wall and I was standing next to it. We were talking about something. I don't remember now. There was something about going to a place. And that there is a lot of time for it. While talking most of the time I was not looking at her but instead I would pick up some sand and look at my hand with some sand in it. After some more talking I realised that we are not speaking English. I asked her how it's possible. She tried to explain herself but I wasn't listening to the explanation. I was picking up sand, dropping a small stream of it and observing it.
And then it was late, evning, a little dark. She was not there anymore. I walked along the road thinking about how to get to that place we talked about earlier.

Good luck, my blitzing friends!

We must be watching these bots work in slow motion. I don't see how the weld bead could retain enough heat to keep the seawater boiling for more than a few seconds. If I get a chance tomorrow, I may try to do some heat transfer calculations to set some bounds on that.

I would say that in this case, "slow motion" is a massive understatement. It took more than a dayh to make that one weld. That we're watching the "slow motion video" in 0.00004629629 fpsm isn't being helpful either. :)

Anyway, I swear that this Time-story is the ch*rping slowest we've experienced yet. It really pushes our already huge patience to a whole another level. It's been four months since it started and we still don't know almost anything. :D Definitely not complaining, it's actually pretty impressive that it's still thrilling and fun to watch.
