I did say, "The river is small". They replied, "What river?" (We were standing on sand, though, so that was RELATED).

Had a quick trip out to the west coast for a family reunion. Spent one morning on the boat in the photo. (Yes, I'm there, along with six others.)
Incidentally, the canyon we rafted in, was created when a sea suddenly decided it didn't want to be a sea anymore.

The book on KxA's desk is titled Stary Joe i Młody Joe, or old Joe and young Joe, I couldn't find a book with that name, but there is a song.
The song
A rough translation of the song:
Spoiler:
Old man old man old man Joe
A farm in the province he had
The Irish steppe knew him well
And with coyotes and on a bridge he played
But it was not our old Joe by himself
He was hiding a great treasure from the world
Because Joe had a son, it was Joe as well
What little he has he had with him for years
They walked on the steppe singing their song
Old Joe and Young Joe
One voice was delightful, the other played the guitar
Old Joe and Young Joe
And so they lived on the Irish steppe
With the coyotes, and the buffalo and on the bridge they played
And so they were indissoluble
And each of them were named Joe
They walked on the steppe singing their song
Old Joe and Young Joe
One voice was a delight to hear, the other on the guitar played
Old Joe and Young Joe

And suddenly Joe woke up completely drunk
He looked at his old face in the mirror
He never came out of this state of mind
Joe, do you live or do you puke?

They walked on the steppe singing their song
Old Joe and Young Joe
One voice was delightful and the other on the guitar played
Old Joe and Young Joe
Wait For It.

I did not know that there is this song.
Really, I did not know it.
i will check it later.
The title comes from somewhere else.

Also, the bsta frame doesn't call it a book but a "notebook".

The way Amtoo draws speech "bubbles" is sort of strange, one growing off the next like that. A reflection of Beanish sentence construction?

Interesting also in that the Cuegan (two people) have three speeches, the Beanies (two people) have three speeches. Hairdo (one person) has three different speeches, but she's special.

That is interesting. It's possible that may have been a function of space in the newpix, which gets crowded with all of the furious doodling, but even at its most crowded in np2737 it looks like there would have been room for a third Beanish speech bubble thing.

Examine action figure
Image

It's the wheelephant action figure.

It's an elephant on wheels with a top hat and a monocle.
The wheels can actually spin.

How difficult would it be to make the image be a link to the next frame in the bsta viewer?
Right now scrolling through frames is difficult because the link to the next one moves depending on how much text there is.
Eta: The wheels have spokes! This is not normal for bsta, or the bftf frames that I have seen (which is not many).

I don't think lmjb and I did that. Wasn't it "are you lmjb"?

If someone random asked me "the river is small" I'd probably ask, leerily, ".....what do you mean?"

Good thinking. But, the Beanies are talking to two Cueganites, while the Cueganites are talking to three Beanies. The numbers match up there. Rosetta, on the other hand, should have five.....

Either way, the way the "bubbles" are chained does seem to have some significance.

I was wondering if the order of Rosetta's speech bubbles had any meaning but I don't think so. The symbol closest to her, the Cuegan-spoken Unglish circle, is obviously not her strongest language. Maybe in a very abstract sense... Unglish as a somewhat simple language, Beanish as more complex, Squarish as some sort of eldritch incomprehensible nightmarespeak? It would have helped to know what order Amtoo actually sketched the speech-segments in (from the left, rightward; or from Rosetta, leftward) but of course the whole section appeared at once in the newpix.

Had a quick trip out to the west coast for a family reunion. Spent one morning on the boat in the photo. (Yes, I'm there, along with six others.)
Incidentally, the canyon we rafted in, was created when a sea suddenly decided it didn't want to be a sea anymore.

Ah, looks like you were in the far north west coast. Closer to BlitzGirl than to me.

Maybe that will be the topic for Time II!

Did you walk up to this person and say, "Hey, are you lmjb1964?" Or did you say, "The rIver is small?" And what did they say in return? :)

I did say, "The river is small". They replied, "What river?" (We were standing on sand, though, so that was RELATED).

I don't think lmjb and I did that. Wasn't it "are you lmjb"?

If someone random asked me "the river is small" I'd probably ask, leerily, ".....what do you mean?"

Yes, I think that's what happened. We skipped the whole river/sea bit. Hopefully we'll get to meet again so that I can say to you, "The river is small!" and see what you do. :)

The discussion about the speech bubbles is really interesting, and I think's it's cool that someone noticed it. Y'all are so observant.

Happy travels, Zooman!

ETA I was at an amusement park yesterday and though of yappo. Sadly, the park was not TimeWorld. :(

I think leftward, from Rosetta is much more likely.
Easier and more natural this way, especially if drawing quickly, which I think is the case.
Just try it and you'll see.

OTTer journeys! How awesomeful! May the waters you encounter be wowterful and not too seaish. And welcome forward when you return!

Image In an interesting example of Loopism, I'm going to have rather patchy internet access for a few dips while I wait for it to be turned on at my new apartment. This coincides almost exactly with my blitzmaiding during the original run of the OTC.

I gave it a quick doodle and I agree. Rosetta first, then the speech bubbles branching from there feels more natural.

That is a very intriguing idea, to have a side-along sequel as opposed to a narrative continuation. Since GLR is notorious for avoiding sequels -
probably less than 1/100 of the Othercomics are sequelish, I'd say - something more oblique might be more of a possibility. Something with a different far-future scenario that would be interesting to explore, but using the same Time delivery system... that could be very molpish. A "shared universe" approach.

All very very hypothetical of course but fun to think about.

Oh, I don't know... he's done quite a few series in his 1-4 panel comics, so he's not at all averse to sequels per se. Time OTOH took a lot of... er.... Tim. I doubt he'll do a Time n!=1, but we already have our own sequels, prequels, alternate universes, and alternate alternates... I'm sure he'll just let us take the reins. After all, we're all Randall, no?

Welcome back Rakhal! And Randalspeed Zooman! And thanks for all the fish... er... ice cream.

To me it looks like a script, starring Joe, in a picture called Smoky Joe. Up for a barbecue? Or maybe that's Polish for "Barbie Cue", and it's a movie about a plastic girl that plays pool. You got trouble!

(Being a wheeling and dealing game, I wonder....can an elephant play pool?)

Even some 1-4 panel comics set in the timiverse would be treeish.

An old Joe and a young Joe that are brothers.

Indeed it would.
Continue examining notebook

It's about two brothers: Joe and Joe.
They look almost identical but they are not twins. One of them is older than the other and one of them is younger.
They share the same name.

This however, would not be so Treeish. Two brothers with the same name? That sounds like a nightmare.
What we're their parents thinking? Was one adopted, or did it happen intentionally?

The text in the notebook is a bit too small to make out, perhaps someone could ENHANCE it.
Wait For It.
