It's absolutely summer in Australia. 35C heat is fairly standard, so all those songs about a "white Christmas" are especially on the nose this year. I've seen precisely one in my time, and that was definitely an anomaly.

The weather's so hot it melts the tar on the road, which sticks to your shoes.

And since I'm Popecat, I decree:

Mention three of your favourite things, without context.

Mine are DnD, jokes that are funny enough to make me laugh out loud, and my family, both nuclear and extended.
I am Schrödinger's Gingercat.

Without context, hmm? Okay, three of my favourite things are:
 1. The 3rd one from the right.
 2. The 2nd fuzziest.
 3. The one that I got last year.

Sooner or later someone would implement it.
I even considered doing it but didn't.
I chose to teach another device from FFS to play sounds instead. (Not so successful as the previous one.)
I didn't check the otherthread to see if someone did it.

New othercomic.

For decree: 1. Having hair short enough that I can rub it dry with a towel, 2. model trains and 3. cuddling.

Edit: Oh hey, and there's a new BSTA too:

Looks like some Waiting For It is involved. And some Poglish too.

Edit 2: Numbers added for clarification. Of course model trains and cuddling aren't very useful for rubbing my hair dry, however short it may be.

It's been a bit cloudy and windy and not so hot the last couple of days, after being fairly hot the day before. It's a nice change though it doesn't feel like summer. Also it rained a little a few times yesterday but it only added up to 1.5mm which is next to nothing.

not that i ever doubted its resilience

it's just strange, like seeing an old friend you haven't spoken to in years because you drifted away. you see each other and there's an awkward moment where neither of you know what to say. then one of you breaks the ice.

how have you been?

edit, a late addendum:

i've realized the dear old newpix-o-meter has been down for some time, ever since openbox migrated to a new API version. i've resurrected the old PHP version and put it up on my current webhost.

i realized also a while ago that my image attachments, hosted on dropbox, have likely been holes in this thread's valiant history for a while now. if anyone has information about what's missing, i can perhaps make an effort for historical recovery!

If I just added numbers to the menu but without actually adding them some here would be really disappointed.

So the signs with population written on them are actual real things?
not very practical.

The number adding is not the only not typical thing about "the menu" and the game.

what do dragons do in the basement?
Spoiler:
once upon a time there was a thread about a comic.

a dragon found himself swept away by this thread and became part of something bigger

making hats, singing songs, coloring ONGs,

once upon a time

but times change, and young dragons' interests range

this dragon found himself in another place,

with other folks

learning about codes, and thinking sand, and not of molps, and castling sand

a place with classes and schedules and professors,

with boring outside words

not molpish, or even epsilonish,

but important for Outside hopes

he worked and learned and read and wrote

he sang and jibed and wrote and spoke

of things not RELATED, but still bespoke

------

this dragon found himself one day

in the summer of 2016

aboard a hollow metal tube,

with engines loud and rigid wings clean

to the swamploads of central florida

for there, he was to lend his mind

to a task so astronomical

an intern, of the fine organization

Administration, National, of both Air and Space

an opportunity not easily passed up!

he stayed there with a friend of he knew

the boy who'd showed him the place

where he could apply for this great chance

to put his skills to work

----

this boy, he'd known, for some time, online

both coders, nimble and able

he grew to know him better then,

that summer of 2016

as he worked and toiled under NASA's flag

on highminded projects no-table

little did the dragon know

during that summer so hot

that when he got to know this boy

he bargained for less than he got

for he fell for this boy,

this intern so handsome,

they became as close as can be,

til the next time summer rolled round again,

the boy moved to seattle to be with me!

Spoiler:
there's more to say, but, another day

the time is once more past 2

it seems in the times of holiday cheer

it's the only thing i can do :P

this account has been perhaps less than a poem

too freeform, yet structured in lines

i hope nonetheless you enjoyed my account

and will Wait for the rest, in Time

addendum: can anymolp not see the newpix-o-meter? i've switched DNS hosts and my local network seems to have some difficulty resolving clock.chronal.net, but external resolver tools seem to see it okay. i need a second opinion, though!

Excellent idea! I can imagine how that chorus would go - I'd use the common technique composers use in these types of choral works where the music reflects the words, and have "the river is small" sung pianissimo with gentle minimal accompaniment, and then when it gets to "the sea is big", it blasts out full fortissimo. And of course I'll make sure to write a particularly baobabish timpani part just for you.
ucim wrote:Actually I've been musing about writing an oratorio based on the OTC myself. Redundancy is certainly molpish! Great to see you back Yappo!

Well to be fair I wouldn't hold your breath for my version, I already have so many ottish projects put on hold due to outside projects that the chances of it happening are very slim. So go ahead with yours by all means! Thanks for the welcome... again... but I never really left, I just don't post much these dips. Always lurking though. But eh, redundancy is, as you say, molpish. So nothing wrong with redundant welcomes. :)
