Re: 1190: "DownTime"

Similarly, if you go to http://timelessriver.net, that's served by an application which does nothing more than redirect you to the corresponding https page, while going to https://timelessriver.net reaches a Python Django server which serves dynamic content. Or, depending on which directory you access, some static content which isn't served by Django. But these protocols are completely independent and could instead serve completely separate content rather than one redirecting, and the redirect doesn't know or care what it's redirecting too.

For example, the Django server is down again and will give you a 502 error. Hmm, I think the something may have wiped out the crontabs that are meant to ensure the worker threads are always up.

I wonder if this will happen every time there is a lot of black background available.

Forget the stairs, don't lose time looking for them! (especially the chirping stairs)
Go directly to the elevator!

But ch*rping stairs is the only way to get more stairs, and Randall knows - we need more stairs!

The ch*rping stairs are getting a little disturbing. Can't we just stick a ladder down there? A ladder was good enough for Cuegan, after all.

such a discovery unnoticed and forgotten?

Today we know that this is actually a great discovery.
not only it shows that IT'S ALL RELATED
but also opens the way to electromagnets, electric motors, electric generators, data storage on magnetic tapes, disks, etc.

"Just a hobby physicist playing around"
i a hobby physicist is "just" playing around you could expect anything.

For decree:

I had to readjust the spokes in the wheels in one my bike.
the wheels got a little less straight than they should.
this can be corrected by adjusting the spokes until the wheel is straight and round again.

Instead of doing only this,
I took out all the spokes and rearranged them into a different pattern.
Now the wheels look like this:

In otherOTTer news, I finally added the phys story to the TimeAfterTime wiki page. However, the section on bsta still badly needs an update, which has become even clearer now. I admit that I am still somewhat confused by the various layers of narrative reality in the story, and that this has so far deterred me from updating the wiki entry myself.

Yes, it's a common side-effect of adding too many ishes at once.

For fans of waiting (for it), I encountered a story yesterdip from another esoteric subculture — obligatory reference to Othercomic 1095 — the community of people who design rollercoasters for the amusement park simulation game RollerCoaster Tycoon and its sequels.

One fan from the Netherlands has been working on extending the record for the longest-duration rollercoaster ride in RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. Last yip, he created the rollercoaster 12 Years of Suffering, which takes 12 yips of Outside time to complete one full ride. But that much waiting was clearly not enough, so he improved his design and just posted the sequel, 45 Years in Hell.

I know basically nothing about the game but I found the two explanation videos strangely interesting to watch. (Maybe I just can't avoid the urge to [spoiler] in any medium?) So I brought the video links here for fellow Timewaiters.

BlitzGirl wrote:For fans of waiting (for it), I encountered a story yesterdip from another esoteric subculture — obligatory reference to Othercomic 1095 — the community of people who design rollercoasters for the amusement park simulation game RollerCoaster Tycoon and its sequels.

Rollercoasters and waiting for it? My two most favourite things! :O
I actually dabble in RCT2 myself, so treeish to see another "esoteric subculture" I'm somewhat involved with being brought over here!

Wow,

so you can
make an electric current
run in circles
through a coil
and it will behave like a magnet,

and this virtual magnet
will have an actual effect
on a light wave passing by?

Wow,
these things
must really be related,

as if they were one.

I have also seen,
that other than you
there is not much other wiki editing done,
this is less good news,

Things like this actually qualify as Time Literature?

Ernest Hemmingway said something similar. What you say, you say in a particularly entertaining way. So yeah, literature. :)

You don't have to intend to make art to be an artist.

Ow! There is a lot of junk in this basement, and it's really dark. Well, getting closer, anyway.

I did see that Yappo dropped by talking about roller coasters. Yappo, I just want you to know that I give you a little mental wave every time I ride a rollercoaster. :) come out to Santa Cruz, we have a great old wooden coaster here! (That invitation goes out to everyone, btw).

Ouch! Now what did i trip on? Anyway, I heard a rumour about an elevator down here. I'll have to look for that.

Yes, the Giant Dipper is a very iconic coaster that I'd love to ride! And the general San Francisco area also of course has California's Great America and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, so lots more coasters besides! My friend (who played Wednesday in the Addams Family musical alongside me as her boyfriend Lucas) is originally from San Francisco and has been to all these places and I'm very jealous :P

Time to do a Time Park in RCT2? I think it just might be.

New othercomic thread for a new othercomic that is supposed to make waiting for it othercomicless while it promotes his new book. FOLLOW THE SECOND COMMANDMENT!

B: Speaking of unexplained communication methods, do you remember coincidence?
KXA: The chat thing?
B: Yes. Do you remember the server ID?
KXA: No. Such numbers are easily forgotten when not used. Five digits with a zero inside?
B: 80236.
just a few minutes ago I found a "server room" with this number on one of the machines ther.
KXA: You think it could be?
Wouldn't that be too many coincdences?
B: We already have too many coincidences. You're probably right.
But it's a good idea to check that room anymay.

KXA wrote:Wouldn't that be too many coincdences?
B wrote:We already have too many coincidences.

Well, it's the server of coincidence. Of course it's RELATED to unusually many coincidences.

KXA wrote:We have stolen a space station!

My theory: It's vice versa. They have been stolen by a space station. Someone (or something?) wants them to be there and alive. Maybe that's not just coincidence, but also coincidence, … I mean, maybe by using coincidence they triggered, by coincidence and by coincidence, the coincidence server in the space station to push for the coincidence that the space station they found by coincidence, albeit probably not by coincidence, stole them. Or maybe that wasn't just by coincidence, too, but coincidence was involved here as well …

My conclusion: Let's wait for it.

That fourth othercomic panel is definitely what would happen if Cuegan designed cloudcastles.

That's the nice thing about Time-RELATED Time; it's always right! I will happily wait for the deluxe guided tour of an RCT2 Time Park.

Sorry for the mess down there; the only thing I'm good at sweeping is the molpies.
I suppose I could try to summon the basement (it is a floor, after all). But I'd be worried about possible side effects...
