Assuming an average of 1 minute passes in newpixia per newpix observed by the squatters-who-read-this-thingy-pulled-by-a-needle-with-a-knot-at-the-other-end, almost 12 hours have passed in Megan & Cueball's world. At my nearby beach, the tide would have risen a lot more and receded again. So we can strike the guess that this is taking place at an earth shore or harbor.

Possibilities: inland landlocked sea that is slowly flooding the surrounding land.
a different world with a smaller moon and a longer period of rotation
they are a zoo exhibit and the zoo keeper forgot to turn off the hose after washing down the exhibit windows.

But also, most likely, if it had been 12 hours, it would've been darker towards either the beginning or the end*, assuming an Earth-like rate of rotation, and that they reside on a round body spinning near a light source, etc. etc. So, could be they're just very fast builders, and it's been rather less than one min/np.

I have successfully been lurking since the beginning of Time (from frame 1|2|4, they look kinda alike...) and had to make a quick answer, but by the time I had my account registered and my answer ready I noticed I'd already would have been multiply pre-post-ninja'd1 since this message will probably take its sweet time to get approved...

Show of hands, who is old enough to remember when this song came out and have an emotional memory attached to it? Besides me, I mean? It came out when I was 13, and I remember listening to it on a train from Thurso to London as we were moving back to the States. *sigh* Almost posted it yesterday.

The other song I haven't seen posted is more depressing, though it is one of my all time faves: From DSOTM, Lyrics by Roger Waters:
Time
Spoiler:
Ticking away the moments
That make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours
In an off-hand way

Kicking around on a piece of ground
In your home town
Waiting for someone or something
To show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today

And then the one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun

And you run and you run
To catch up with the sun
But it's sinking

Racing around
To come up behind you again

The sun is the same
In a relative way
But you're older

Shorter of breath
And one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter
Never seem to find the time

Plans that either come to naught
Or half a page of scribbled lines

Hanging on in quiet desperation
Is the English way

The time is gone
The song is over
Thought I'd something more to say

Don't think it is as fitting to TOTC as the Alan Parsons' song.

I'm sorry about that,

I will take the opportunity, however, to point out that the lyrics of Alan Parsons Project's "Time" are very similar to TOTC.

Time, flowing like a river (River song?)
Who knows when we shall meet again (Frame 52's Later / Bye dialogue)
If ever (We never know how long they'll be gone)

The rivers flows to the sea, there are tides, friends, love...

Everything except sandcastles. Dammit!

Spoiler:
Stealing a moment from Mr. Time
He rocks in his chair like a shiny dime
But it's all for show, all for show.
Wearing your name and a number or two
When the minute's up, so are you
But everybody knows, everybody knows.

Watching the hour from the light in his eyes,
He waits for your soul to come in from the sky
But it's lost below, lost below.
Turning the Wheel of your destiny round,
When the motion stops - no more sound,
Does anybody care, anybody care.

Where's the man, where's the child
Wrapped together side by side.
Who can tell you what to do,
When Mr. Time has come for you.
See the truth, hear the lies,
Can there be no compromise
And who can tell you what they knew,
When Mr. Time has come for you.

Is it a feeling of deja vu?
When he points his finger calling you
Is it illusion? Just an illusion
Picking up seconds that fall to his feet
He blows them away as rocks on his seat,
Cool as his smile, his smile.

Where's the man, where's the child
Wrapped together side by side.
Who can tell you what to do,
When Mr. Time has come for you
See the truth, hear the lies,
Can there be no compromise
And who can tell you what they knew,
When Mr. Time has come for you.
