I make a linear average on your numbers meet at C.450 and a x3 progression encounters at C.473.

that said, I think it would be more useful to look at a Blitzpages per hour (averaged to negate comas) vs Newpage per hour as certain errors would cancel and by that I get a prediction closer to 500

(sorry Blitzgirl, Don't be down heartened, please use this skateboard I have lain here for you to ease your journey a little)

Yeah, I was thinking about putting in the dates of her posts as well and calculating progress based on that... maybe I will do that today if I have time. If you give me the formula for that fancy stat you're doing I'll throw it on the sheet :) I'm sure my analysis is far from perfect since I pretty much just made it up off the top of my head.

Ok, updated my spreadsheet to factor in time as well. My prediction is that unification will occur on May 1 at 5:11 pm UTC (note this is a linear predication based on a thread that is clearly slowing down, so in all likelihood it's going to be a little later than that). And someone with an actually firm understanding of statistics should check my work :)

Umm, I take the time in days between updates and the number of pages (blitz and new) per update to find the rate of blitz/new pages per day I then average that over 3 updates (to reduce fluctuations) The latest rates are (xPages/day 1 update, 3 update, 5 update, 7 update average)

Blitz (20.5, 16.85, 18.85, 9.12)
New(20.5, 13.48, 11.45, 18.62)

Blitzrate is getting closer and closer to Newrate over time and I worry that it's asymptotic. Working with the
5 update rate discrepancy 7.4 Blitzpages per day, Time sync in 5.136 days (58.8Newpgs)
3 update rate discrepancy 3.38 Blitzpages per day, Time sync in 11.25days (128.8Newpgs)
with the 1 and 7 update rates, Blitzgirl is currently not catching Newpages.

ETA some of your Newpage numbers are different from mine, where bltizgirl has put a blitzpages/newpages and that disagrees with the current newpage, I went with current newpage rather than Blitzreported newpage.

I'm getting sick of the amount of red underlining posts on BlitztisticsTM get...time to update my dictionary.

ETA2: After Blitzupdate 203/286 the rates of both blitzpaging and newpaging level off a bit and that predicts timesync at Newpage 476 May 6th

Quest progress: 367 out of 398 pages.
The Next Level. NP 735.

Signposts passed:
310 out of 363 pages
314 out of 364 pages

The Next Level grows ever stronger with supports added by Cueball and Megan, even as the rightmost tower of the Sandcastle continues to erode away. As for happenings in the history of the thread of Time, some factions are advocating for the great "it" instead of directly following the One True Comic. Current speculations as to the future of Time say that the levels of construction are a metaphor for the progression of architecture. And the greatest distraction in recent newpages has been the granting of graphs by patzer, who thoughtfully created one for me in my absence, too:

I present yet another obstructive wall of pastposts:
Spoiler:
jovialbard, edit April 22 wrote:edit: I attempted to predict when BlitzGirl's present would be united with NewPage present. I predicted that it would happen at NewPage 398 around Sunday night (as quoted later on this page). I checked my math and it was just totally wrong! Which is probably obvious by the time you, BiltzGirl, are reading this. It was wrong because I forgot to factor in the number of pages each of your posts represents when calculating the average BlitzSpeed (change in distance from goal over change in current NewPage total). Silly me. The good news is that there does seem to be a relatively stable point at which BlitzGirl progress catches up with NewPage progress and all Nows are one. Unfortunately my new prediction is a bit further along than my original  , but not terribly. My new predication is around NewPage 450 or so. By the time you read this you'll be a around 100 pages from unity, almost certainly closer if the NewPages continue to lull and if you sprint to the finish. Given that your first burst of effort was nearly 100 pages on its own, I believe that you will make it soon. Godspeed BlitzGirl, the end is in sight. (My math)

Well, my first burst of effort came in a Time when I was unknown in the realm of the Thread, so that isn't quite fair. A large chunk of Time these days is spent noting sigcouragements and responding to various goings-on in the pastposts that mention me in some way. I highly doubt I will be reading 100 pages back-to-back again.

Blitzgirl, I hope you take heart... and continue your noble quest at your own pace of Time.

Ah but past predictions have been based on when she would reach now in her future which by then would be our past. My calculations attempt to predict when she will reach our future which will then be our present and at simultaneously her present, depending of course on one's relativistic speed...

In fact BlitzSpeed has been gradually climbing as her posts advance...

The future recedes before me, but I hope one day to live in the Now! The news about BlitzSpeed is somewhat encouraging. :)

One does not sprint through the thread of Time. You're likely to be tripped up by some crucial post passed over too hastily. Waiting is best.

And we all Waited eagerly for more

When first we started posting, our minds seemed very dark,
In the Time before the newpix became long
But then they began building and the blackness went away
As we turned to the True Comic every dong

For the Castle keeps on growing ever high
I've seen it rising far into the sky
And legions of us Wait for it although we know not why
Pray that Time will fly

Pray that Time will fly

They kept to their construction: slowly, yes, but sure
A camera pan thrilled every devotee
And then they both went swimming, and Megan spat out drops
Of the semencoffeecancerbabies sea

Religion sprang anew with the trebuchet attack
Megan falling off her mound by mistake
We made Churches and titles as the castellation grew
Up by the sea (or river? Not a lake)

Oh, the Castle keeps on growing ever high
I've seen it rising far into the sky
And legions of us Wait for it though we get no reply
Pray that Time will fly

Pray that Time will fly

We spoke of the Recursion, we Knighted ourselves too,
Observed them and their Observation Stand
And though our creeds may differ, some Timewaiters, some not
We still agree the Sandcastle is grand

May the Castle keep on growing ever high
I've seen it rising far into the sky
Time keeps a-drifting onward; I'll see it by-and-by
Pray that Time will fly

The Castle keeps on growing ever high

Well, at least my 400th post arrives at the same time as a signpost from Blitzgirl, and a visit from a black-pajama-clad sneaky person. Pajamas are fun.

I don't think BlitzGirl would like that, because then she has to read this needle-pulling-thingy backwards and forwards for ever!
And the PFAPs would pope back and forth, forever!

'The sea can't just make more of itself forever' is a commentary on (the rumoured pregnancy and) overpopulation. The semen can make people pregnant if it wants, whether it has a good reason or not. The receding/small river is a symbol of dwindling resources that won't be able to sustain the rising sea. Other rivers are other habitable planets that we could flee to (as if it were easier to terraform another planet than to keep this one in some kind of survivable state.)

Has there ever been symbolism in an xkcd comic?

We Wait For It.

I know we wait for it, but what are they waiting for?

I don't think any of them have been nearly lengthy to allow for symbolism.
ETA: doesn't mean Randall can't start now. There's a first time for everything.

It. Maybe "Wait for it" was also a command to Cueball and Megan?

BlitzGirl wrote:Well, my first burst of effort came in a Time when I was unknown in the realm of the Thread, so that isn't quite fair. A large chunk of Time these days is spent noting sigcouragements and responding to various goings-on in the pastposts that mention me in some way. I highly doubt I will be reading 100 pages back-to-back again.

I was trying to be optimistic?

I get the impression that they think they're waiting for something, but there isn't anything to wait for. Like Waiting for Godot, but with sandcastles instead of suicidal boredom.
Waiting for nothing. Just like us, in a way.

ETA: It seems I am cursed with the recurring papacy.
Or maybe I'm just a really active poster.

I was wondering if spiders can wear hats, so I googled "spider hat" in google images.
People are WEIRD!
