I was only going to do one of these, but the thread's been so slow lately. I wonder how many people still use the reminder which started the whole B/D/Gong thing? I should probably coma, given that it's starting to get light outside, but I'm not remotely tired.

Othercomic image, which I believe is worthy of direct inclusion in the OTT due to its relevance to recent threadversation:

Title text: Sure, T. rex is closer in height to Stegosaurus than a sparrow. But that doesn't tell you much; 'Dinosaur Comics' author Ryan North is closer in height to certain dinosaurs than to the average human.

Has anyone looked at the creation dates for the other comic? I don't have any tools to do that.
I'm wondering if the comics we think are referencing Time will have a different creation pattern than those that do not.

This newest Other Comic doesn't contain the same creation/modification dates within the file that the Time ones do. All we have is the server-based modification time, 2013-05-12 21:05:06 -0700 which comes to 2013-05-13 00:05:06 EDT or 2013-05-13 04:05:06 UTC.

KarMann, while you're here, I'm reading the Language Instinct and enjoying it (it's especially cool to be reading about language development as it's about to unfold in my 8-month-old). Given that there's at least two of whatever they are, I'm surprised they haven't commented. Maybe it's just grassy patches as they leave the dunes?

Well, if Randall says it's a raptor, then it's DEFINITELY a raptor.

I hate to nitpick¹, but he says it's a dinosaur, not necessarily a raptor. Image

Title text: Sure, T. rex is closer in height to Stegosaurus than a sparrow. But that doesn't tell you much; 'Dinosaur Comics' author Ryan North is closer in height to certain dinosaurs than to the average human.

Hmm, posting the Other Comic in the OTT, isn't that heresy? If it were anyone but BlitzGirl doing it, I'd say yes. But it was the one and only BlitzGirl, ruler of the OTT, so I must be mistaken. Image

Given that there's at least two of whatever they are, I'm surprised they haven't commented. Maybe it's just grassy patches as they leave the dunes?

Grassy patches, that makes sense, yes.

Are they perhaps fords?

Are they walking parallel to the river? Maybe the river is more spread out at this point, and has shallow parts.

This, along with your new awesome warping avatar, took quite a toll on a brain that hasn't coma'd since yesterikositetranewpix. Still; true words, well put.

EDIT: As whichever newpage tradition is currently in effect, I bring Jaffa Cakes (and then scoff most of them myself)

First of all, don't click the spoiler if you're planning to watch the Sopranos.

He didn't "say" it was anything, but he went out of his way to remark on peregrine falcons, illustrated one, and drew it to look just like the bird he drew for the OTC. If it ain't a peregrine falcon in the OTC, maybe
Spoiler:
Tony Soprano is still alive.

I don't think this is evidence that Randall reads the thread. Many things could be. It might provide an insight on the OTC, or maybe just on the way Randall works. I doubt he draws one comic just in time for the deadline three times a week. Maybe he had this comic waiting in the wings (ha) and thought it would be funny to bring it out to coincide with the falcon in Time. Or maybe it is important for the puzzle of the OTC that we know what kind of bird it is and the other comic was carefully put there for us. Maybe the falcon in the other comic came first, and then he thought, "hey, why not throw this into Time too?"

ETA spoiler warning
also ETA that falcons would still be consistent with the Dead Sea hypothesis.
