So I am leaning more and more that they are stuck in some bizarre terrain. Which explains the initial sort of boredom and fidgeting. Followed by making a castle out of available materials(it's a close analog to sand!) and then after doing that... figuring ok lets try swimming in whatever this is. And now discovering that was a bad idea. The earlier "Later" was him taking off to explore the general surroundings(apparently not finding much). All they have is Time and they are spending it.

A sea of bacon? How do I get to this magical place? HOW DO I GET THERE!?

On the other hand, a sea of semen...ewww.

You have to swim through the sea of semen to reach the sea of bacon

Hmm, well, it is bacon.

For mankind, science...and BACON! *splash* *gag*

Totally worth it

Possibly... although, cs' for land cs" for liquid would be easier.

Dracomax wrote:possibly one is semenated caffeine?

That is possible, but industrial semenating machines are far more expensive than caffienating machines; this could suggest the Cueball and Megan are extremely wealthy.

Yeah, that is weird.

I think that is simply required for the proper flow of conversation...

The position of the text, yes, but the line going off screen terminates too high, it should curve down and be closer to the water surface. Either he is standing on something, or is possibly very far away, but then in that case how would she hear him?

There's a third option you ignored: there is no significance to exactly which pixels are occupied by a line that is used just to indicate the speaker in a medium where there is no facial feature to give away who is talking.

I'm thinking there is a diving platform to the right. That would explain Cueball up high, and them looking that way everyonce in a while.

I'd say it is this or the melting/freezing point happens to be right near ambient temp and pressure and the liquid and solids are in a constant mixing phase change at the boundry.

Good point.

I'm thinking it wasn't the water/liquid that she got in her mouth. I'm thinking we will have a period of expansion to the right to reveal what she actually got in her mouth.

It had so better be thick cut back bacon imported specially from the UK. If it turns out to be that turkey bacon nonsense, heads will roll.

If that was the case, why not just have his text come from the left all the time, and hers from the right. Or randomly position dialog. Heck, why even care about what order in time you present dialog at all? Of course there is significance!

I think all this dialogue puts paid to the idea floated back in the early 80s that this is an algorithmically generated comic. Plausible if they were just building sandcastles, but there is too much else going on here.

The 'static frames' could still be algorthmically generated. Or at least, algorithmically-assisted?

I challenge the "algorithmically generated" theory - we haven't found Jesus and as we know - The algorithm consistently finds Jesus.

I, like many before me, have been prompted after years of silence to create an account because of this strip. So, greetings! I've been following the thread from the start, a silent member of the cult. Thank Time for you all; my friends all think I've lost it and just kind of give me funny looks and edge away. They don't know what it really means to wait for it.

Is it just me or is the worst part the point between the GONG and the time the frame actually changes? The suspense...
And where are they going now?!
. . .
What in the world am I going to do if this is still going when Spring Break ends?
