Nope! We've seen sand fall on its own. S there's gravity at least.

Ah, but the sand was touched by them at some point. Anything they touch is then released from whatever force is freezing time.

Also, the gound outside the castles is lava.

Then the flags should have been unfrozen.

But they didn't touch the flags, only the poles.

The sea is death/time.

Time, swift to fasten and swift to sever

This is no time to talk about Time. We haven't got the time.

Well done! I made an Insurrection reference earlier and no one responded (a perfect moment in Time).
Wait for it.

Hmm so we may never reach 8 pages, but we should definitely push for 16 posts. I know we can do it!(If only we would stop getting all these posts labeled "bad number").

Just updated my implementation of logging and downloading the latest updates. Won't do anything until 5 minutes prior to a newpix when it'll start checking for updates.
github dot com slash Lockyy slash newpix

edit: Having just seen the latest update. I hope I didn't post this at the worst possible time. Right as the whole thing ends.

Oh me yarm, MEGAN AND CUEBALL WERE BORED AFTER A GIANT BUKKAKI PARTY!!!

The castle is made of dried protein, and the liquid is still well.. semen. It all makes sense. They built a castle for semencancerbabies to grow in. I.. hmm.. I am not sure I can pursue this much further..

On one hand, another 10 newpix of panning might drive us all insane, but on the other hand, that happened like 50 newpages ago.

The last pan/zoom started about the same time last night... I went to bed and woke up to a whole new castle. Just after 10pm here now, same thing tonight?

Ah, yes indeed. Obviously, this is a clue that tells us that Cueball is a ventriloquist.

Our sacred duty now is to re-examine all previous comics, to figure what Cueball have said that apparently were said by other characters.

For the record, it is now 5:00 pm on the east coast. I just called my wife to say I was going to have to work late at the office. I'm thinking I did that mostly just so I can wait for newpix without her distraction. I may be here for 6-8 more newpix.

Randall, no amount of money you will ever make can repay the amount of engineering hours you have stolen from across the world. Well Done.

I personally think the empty castle frames are the most poignant. I hesitate to suggest, but is it possible we're entering a new era here?

This is one of the most incoherent sentences I've read in awhile, but at least you remembered the apostrophe :) This is what 179 newpix without sleep does to a person I guess.

Although, I think the End will probably have more than just the word "it" on the screen.

Long time reader... I finally registered just so I could chime in about whether or not the comics are automatically generated.

Looking at some of the past "big" projects xkcd has produced (the financial comparison, the radiation chart, the internet map, the click and drag, etc) it is clear that Randall is not afraid of spending a fair amount of time to produce something spectacular. So far we are only at 179. Most of them are fairly similar to one another, so my guess is he can produce these images very quickly. Even if he were to draw 1000 "newpix", I think that is most definitely a reasonable amount of time to spend on a "big" project.

I wholeheartedly believe that this comic is not automatically generated. I also really want some nutella, french toast, and coffee, for some weird reason.

Perhaps the characters in this comic would be on their computers during all this time, except that there are technical problems. Building a sandcastle is what they do while they "wait for I.T." to show up and fix things.
