Time for some giffing!
The greatest movement was done by the smallest of the Bangs Brothers, aka the one with the missing cousin. He moves forward through the crowd. Perhaps he will suggest the bags idea? Also, we have some odd bush-mustard going on...

I imagine they're going to use emptied water containers. Given that they live in a salt desert with an unreliable river, they need plenty of water containers to survive (including dilgunnerangs, but they'd also need larger ones too) and they'd treasure them. And when they're empty, they float, even in river water, as Cuegan saw first-hand.

"Foreshadowing! Your sign of quality literature."

Edit: Suddenly I feel all Popish. Decree: Name something else that floats in water, other than wood, churches, gravy, lead, very small rocks, a duck, and witches.

The little kid is about to suggest, "How about the bloated corpses of our enemies?" and they'll all chuckle fondly, momentarily relieving the tension.
If you're lost you can look--and you will find me
Time after Time...

Ok, this head count is driving me nuts. Now I'm seeing only 19 people in both of these frames.

The head that was counted in the "21" earlier which I missed is the one labelled "6" here, which I didn't see as a head but rather as a couple of limbs crossing negative space between the bodies of "5" and "7".

ChronosDragon wrote:Image

I see the guy on the far right labelled "21", and saw him from the start. I'm also on 1920x1080 running full screen, nothing gets clipped for me; and I was looking at the original pic unzoomed to begin with anyway.

In Blitzgirl's gif above, I count the following in both frames:

Two Cuegan
Four kids in front: three sitting, one standing
Seven adults in a cluster
Two more kids standing, including the one walking between frames
One person of uncertain age sitting
Three adults standing separately

That's 2+4+7+2+1+3 = 19 people in both frames.

I can't even force myself to see the fifth kid ("6") in there now. I'm pretty sure the frame changed. There also appears to be a missing bald adult from the right side of the cluster of seven (originally eight).

Something is amiss.

EDIT to attribute earlier, numbered image in a quote tag.

This is a problem;
I'm making a map here; understand!
Now another sea will come and flood yours!
We are the beanies;
we do what we can because we must.
For the good of all of us,
except the ones that we missed!

But there's no sense crying over those who are gone;
you must say goodbye from here so you can move on!
You have walked too far to die - it is suicide to try!
You must stay here where you're still alive.

And I'm really sorry;
We did not know about your tribe.
Even though we asked the ones who lived there;
You say they don't like you?
So maybe they hoped for you to die.
But you came to us because
you have a future up here;

Now these points we've surveyed make a beautiful line,
and we're sure we're safe inside this castle of mine.
So I'm glad that you're here, you have nothing more to fear
Now you're safe here and you're still alive...

Go 'head and leave me;
I think I prefer to stay inside.
Maybe you'll find someone else to help you.
Maybe the Beanies!
That was a joke: Haha, fat chance.
We will not risk lives for you,
because you stole all our maps!

Look at me still talking when there's science to do,
and I look down there, it makes me glad I'm not you!
There's a torrent coming in, you can't fight it, you can't win!
In the Château d'If, we're still alive.
I'm on a mountain and I'm still alive.
I'm doing research and I'm still alive.
I'm in a castle and I'm still alive.
While you're dying, I'll be still alive.
And when you're dead I will be still alive, still alive, still alive.

Looks like 3024 got corrected and one person at the back of the Seven (and what I'm going to consider a phantom person apparent in the Four at the front) disappeared, and 3025 is running with that. But we're still one person off from the earlier-quoted figures, just in the wrong direction. I predict both of these frames will get updated again.

Oh my Randall, y'all are right. Numbers 6 and 17 in ChronosDragon's labelled pic have vanished! I didn't even notice while making my gif; I actually retrieved both frames again and must have gotten the new versions. I think mscha's a-coma, but perhaps he can double-verify this for us when he molpies up again.

Also, I just noticed that the kid labelled 7 is the only character who DOES NOT MOVE in the gif. Creepy, or just great attention span?

You know, we might have talked about this when the term dilgunnerang was first coined, but maybe not because we didn't yet know how relatively un-advanced Cuegan's society is: what are those things made out of?

They're watertight. But they float on the freshwater river. It didn't LOOK bladder-shaped, but maybe it was. Could the hill people have owned a cache of non-biodegradable plastic water bottles, some of which found their way down the river?

Either way, bladders or plastic water bottles, the possibility does exist of using them as floats.

I still don't understand: why are they talking about crossing rivers right now? Can't they head directly inland (parallel to the Sea channels) until they get above the current water level? Does anyone get this?

Those two frames Pforrest pointed out are generally assumed to be from a dream Cueball was having, as shortly after Megan kicked him in the head and he woke up, groggy.

I know why they're talking about crossing rivers. The bush-mustard ( :wink: ) isn't mustard at all. It's branches and twigs floating along on the river in the near background from left to right across the frame.
Here's the latest gif (numbers are mscha):

I think it's too far to go to go around the channels and back up the other side to get headed towards higher ground. They have to go over the channels, and fast, before they get unmanageable, in order to get headed towards safety.

Either La Petite's Ark is on the horizon or the rising tide.

If they get swept up in the current of a sea-river, would it not eventually dump them up at the leading edge of the sea, in position to run for the mountains ahead of whatever mega-waves wille eventually come? It seems to be too late for them to outrun the sea already... might as well grab the biggest bits of wood they can carry a short distance, get into the current of a sea-river before it is all submerged into the sea, and hold on tight.

Maybe the Bangs Brothers just like to stand on top of mounds. All three of them are now on top of slightly raised lumps of the scenery.

I humbly submit that we reference the 'Bang Brothers' as the 'Brothers Bang'. Mostly in an attempt to avoid confusion/tasteless jokes regarding a particularly prevalent internet site that is 'unsuitable' for some audiences...get my drift?

Yes we did. (Yes you did.)

@Everybody: thank you for keeping the subject count low today. Seeing that no one volunteered for the Saturday-Tuesday shift, I'm afraid the blog won't have coverage on that timeframe.

EDIT: Did we really have 44 posts in one black frame newpix?

Had an absolutely terrifying dream earlier about sea levels rising around my home.

No time to ketchup properly, but the bush-mustard looks to me like possible debris flowing through the village on a rivulet. Which is why the Bangs Brothers are heading for the very-slightly-higher ground?

(possibly this has already been mentioned. Mumble mumble something about javascript?)

Still Alive

Spoiler:
This is a problem;
I'm making a map here; understand!
Now another sea will come and flood yours!
We are the beanies;
we do what we can because we must.
For the good of all of us,
except the ones that we missed!

But there's no sense crying over those who are gone;
you must say goodbye from here so you can move on!
You have walked too far to die - it is suicide to try!
You must stay here where you're still alive.

And I'm really sorry;
We did not know about your tribe.
Even though we asked the ones who lived there;
You say they don't like you?
So maybe they hoped for you to die.
But you came to us because
you have a future up here;

Now these points we've surveyed make a beautiful line,
and we're sure we're safe inside this castle of mine.
So I'm glad that you're here, you have nothing more to fear
Now you're safe here and you're still alive...

Go 'head and leave me;
I think I prefer to stay inside.

Really good! Rosetta as GLADoS really does work. :D

I got a postcard from my local planning committee a few [heresy]days[/heresy] ago alerting me that I was now in the 100 year floodplain for a nearby riversmall. I'm still a bit creeped out about that!

Time for a little wiki promotion - just do a crtrl+F for "rope" on the dialog page and you're one click away from mscha's viewer, with ready-to post code for the forum as well as links to the non-canonical viewers. :)
