I didn't care for the ending of Foundation and Earth (I think it was) and told him why. His wife, who was sitting next to him, turned to him and said, "I told you so!". Made my day.

Well, this was about 1988, so I wasn't quite so aged. But nerdy, yes, I guess. And not staggering, neither. I have a reputation to maintain, so all staggering is done strictly in private.

Gah! I looked at this and thought, "I know this! It's M1074!"

Then I looked at Megan's arms and realized I was wrong.

M1074 is a good guess, but you're absolutely right! It's the wrong newpix.

Added to the book recommendations page. Semi-related question. Can sigs be searched? Someone has or had in their sig something like '... overprice the food, underfill the glasses, choke the stray rich orphan...' Does that ring any bells? I encountered that line in "The Magic and the Healing" by Nick O'Donahoe, which I read to see if it could be given to a local school, and now I want to know if there are others.

I couldn't find the thing you said the same way though.

Just came across two of the best most neat OTTifications seen in a while, taixzo's Still Alive and yappo's OTT Monopoly. Had to say thanks.

Blitz Progress: 873 of 1340
np 2180, a cairn!

I just passed my lone signpost in a seaish 216NP stretch, from NP 745 to NP 961:
Spoiler:
macraw83 wrote:Blitz progress: 642 of 872
Back to the river, np 1388

So... it has been quite some time since I last posted. I had a visitor in town for a week (including the weekends on either side), combined with the first of two consecutive hell weeks at work, followed by a weekend trip to watch my brother graduate from high school.

As a result of all of this, I am now exactly 100 pages FURTHER behind than I was at my last signpost, the furthest in the Past I have been during all of Time. You can expect shorter, more infrequent signposts as I try to spend whatever I can Blitzing.

I have one thing to contribute, although this probably will have shown up at some point in my future by the time I return to the Present.

RE: Y'all/You All/etc: I found this map some time ago, and thought it might be interesting to those who participated in the Y'all/You All/etc. conversation some couple hundred pages into the past: http://www.businessinsider.com/22-maps- ... us-style-7
It's going to be a long trek to the next one.

Anyways, in the few NP since my last signpost, there have been a few interesting PFAN edicts, discussions as to the proper phrasing for ottifications/timeodies/etc., and a magnificent looking cairn, possibly marking the peak of the mountain? That would be exciting. Anyway, back to it...
In a comically tragic turn of events, Addams didn't die. You can help her here.

Does the basement ever end?

Good luck to all the Blitzers out there!

Blindposting once more to say that I'm finally relieved of Outside distractions for a while. Today I shall ketchup like I've never ketchupped before! Expect Exodies-style blindposts coming from me fairly frequently, but I'll make my best attempt to ensure I don't double-post. Apologies if I seem to be spamming or bring up topics which caused tension later in Time.

It's a convenient way to make sure the link always goes to the latest page of the thread.

If we keep going at this rate though, we'll have issues sometime around the year 8500.

If we're still using PHP-based forum software in the year 8500, yes, we're definitively having issues.

It could be worse - we could be drawing our posts on the ground with our sticks.

Oh dear. I have been lurking from work all day. But to see that Exodies is getting close, and Thirds does not know...I still get a bit of a queasy feeling when I realize that some OTTers do not know about the you-know-what.

Welcome back Chronos, hope to see if in the Future Present soon!
Great OTTification Blitzgirl! Its beauty and genius are in its simplicity.

To all the other OTTers out there still blitzing, RUN...I mean, you can do it!

Do we have any Time Traveler titles for post-you-know-what blitzers like Smolloy who are coming from the deep past?

I guess we have to call them smolloys? Or maybe just smolls? smollers?
I wrote a book exploring the nature of identity and loss of self! And another book about babies!

You'd have to ask ucim, he has a knack for blitzer title-giving.

OTTers' map

Kazza3 wrote:Also, Aluisio, do think that having the map as repeating over and over again as you scroll sideways, rather than returning to the same map (if you follow what I mean), is problematic? Obviously most people are on the initial one, but I've scrolled to one side or another, assuming that it would return to the same map, and then wondered why all the OTTers were gone. Also, ggh seems to have marked him/herself on the left side map, rather than the main one. I'm not sure if this is something you have control over, given you're utilizing third-party maps?

Hi - I am lost in the past on all fronts right now - hoping to get back to the present the xip after tomorrow, but I saw this, and wanted to say, please PM me if I'm breaking anything. I couldn't see the otters on the map when I tried before (and I can't try right now on the work computer I'm on) so I don't know what naughtiness I might have perpetrated on the map. I'll be back to my fry-saucing as soon as I can do so without being a bad mommy.

Just in time - was going to talk about the map.
No worries, ggh, I fixed your location for you after realizing the request and database fields are named differently in the current version.

So, I'm receiving many complaints that the map doesn't work - or people don't know how to use it. Because of that and because our work is never over, I started refactoring the JavaScript (yes, there's JavaScript :D) yesterday and today I spent about one hour redesigning it. The new layout, which I intend to apply once I get back home and to my computer tomorrow morning (UTC-3), can be seen here. Feel free to play with it, all buttons and messages are already there. And please, send feedback.

I think I'm working too much on that map. I don't even remember the last time I was here.

I had a dream last night that I was in the OTT. Unfortunately, due to the 430 effect, that's all I remember. But I remember it was a good dream!

That's why I (used to) keep a dream log! Just as a way to remember some fun dreams. Once, I glanced at it about an hour after I woke up, and noticed something there that I didn't even remember writing! It said "Men in suits, unanswered questions"... very cryptic. Other dreams that I remember because of my dream log include one honest-to-goodness flight dream, a time travel dream, and a dream where I was kidnapped and brought to a secret underwater facility for people with supernatural powers. Apparently I'm very creative while asleep.

Blitz progress 1238/1340.

The OTT is awesome. Loving all the chatter, it was greatly missed.

I've had the same feeling today. And, I wouldn't say close, but Smolloy has the general panic of the Fading to look forward to.
Waiting for it...

These news posts always make me giggle - they're using our lingo, albeit with much "double quotes" :P I saw one on wired a couple days ago, not sure if it was linked before or not, but in case it hasn't here it is.

ETA: Found a link to it on page 1322. Whoops. Ignore me.

I heard about a guy that did something like that. In his dreams he had figured out how to solve all of the world's problems: World peace, hunger, race relations, the economy, everything. But he'd forget the dreams when he woke up. Very frustrating.

So, to try to not forget these wonderful solutions, he put a pen and paper by his bedside with the idea that he would force himself awake and capture the key idea immediately.

Sure enough, pretty soon he had one of those dreams, woke up and scribbled out his thoughts and dropped happily back to sleep.

I the morning he looked at the paper and it said...

Found this on NP 724 while searching the thread for further additions to this wiki page:

It's the most wonderful thread on the net.
With the posters all posting,
And all of us boasting, “There’s no flame wars yet!”
It's the most wonderful thread on the net.

It's the hap-happiest thread of them all.
We make sharing appealing
And unhappy feeling we try to forestall.
It's the hap-happiest thread of them all.

We have people that write songs
And cool bots that post ONGs
And people that make awesome graphs.
There is great animation
And folks from each nation who
Share in the stories and laughs.

It's the most wonderful thread on the net.
We discuss each new theory
And answer each query with
“Yes, sure, you bet!”
It's the most wonderful thread on the net.

We have science and cool hats
And even a few cats
And artwork and puzzles sublime.
The road may get rocky
But read “Jabberwalky”
To realize how special is “Time.”

It's the most wonderful thread on the net.
And I cherish this new bond
Of each of you I’m fond,
Though we’ve never met.
It's the most wonderful thread,
It's the most wonderful thread,
It's the most wonderful thread on the net.

I assume this is an ottification of an original song. Can anyone tell me what that is?

@AluisioASG, like the new interface! I like that you separated searching and placing markers. Also, you might want to make sure that you note that an empty search shows all the OTTers on the map, it took me a while to figure that out :) . Great work though.

@charlie_grumbles Eureka! *runs off to solve world peace/hunger/climate change etc.*
