On the Madness thread, Vytron posted a link to TvTropes' self-demonstrating article on Sugar Bowl. Here's my attempt of ottifying it:

Travel Log, day 1: I have embarked on this journey to discover the mythical land of the One True Thread, in the bottom of where the Mediterranean Sea stood and in the country of chirping baby birds, said to be full of strange people and creatures. I am excited and expect only the best!

Travel Log, day 5: Having entered the outskirts of this land, I've discovered that the wildlife is very... cute. Although some of them appear to be predators, they come up to me quite confidently and seek sweets or to play. Some of them looks like bees and they make a visible trail while they move. In the interests of science, I have also determined that they taste like moles and small dinosaurs. The trees all appear to be perpetually in season and fruit-laden, and some of them are very tall. The river, which I originally supposed to be contaminated with some white substance, is actually a river of... semencoffeecancerbaconbabiesonice.

Travel Log, day 7: I have run across what appear to be some locals. They are short, pudgy, and high spirited, constantly singing and sharing. Their language seems like gibberish. I have dubbed them OTTers. On further study, the high levels of OTTish here seem to be causing me to develop diabetes.

Travel Log, day 16: Their society is quite fascinating; it is perhaps a Utopia. While they do not seem technologically advanced, they're noticeable for the lack of mean people, teasing or any kind of flaming, living conditions are heavenly and could not be farther from base human nature. In an effort to enlighten the OTTers, I am teaching them about money, taxation, slavery, and war.

Travel Log, day 42: I don't understand it, it makes no sense! Yesterday, the rebel Outsiders had razed the Beanie City and started a campaign of genocide, but today it's as if none of that happened! Apparently, a small OTTer child (who locals call "LaPetite") ran into the midst of heresy, started singing about GLR's wisdom, and suddenly everyone was holding hands and, as if by magic, the entire city was restored!

Travel Log, dip 167: I think I am going mad. The more I try to destwoy this awesomeful, flutterbeewingish needle-pulled thing, the more I fail and the riverishly I want too. They even keep shawing theiw cakes and hotdogs wif me!! Steambottle, ahm becoming one uv them. I... tink I'm going to molpy molpy molpy molpy grapevine grapevine...

Travel Log, dip (Indeterminate)k : Aw, molpish! Want a wowterfulcw**kie?

k There is a streak of ketchup where the date should be

Cloudy_the Conqueror! Your second post on this needle-pulled-thing, and already you are an old pro!

Glad to see you back, mikrit and Marsh'n! mikrit, I loved your comic - pretty and funny! Looking forward to the next date. :) Marsh'n, might I suggest fry-sauce? Your presence in the present will be lovely for us, and can only slow your blitz further, giving you a better shot at the title. :)

Also, maybe HES is right and we should lay off the otherthread a bit. Someone called us creepy. That is unmolpish.

Oh, that's simple. I've been completely ignoring the Time thread for over a year now, so whether the filters include that thread or not, I won't care. Both options successfully ignored.
I'm impressed?

Okay, if all of the mods can simultaneous manage to not fulfill either of those suggestions, I'll be more impressed?
We will ignore both of those suggestions by default, even if we weren't otherwise entirely apathetic -- because we have no agency in those exceptions. They exist because Randall was (uncharacteristically) paying attention to the thread and did whatever.

(Emphasis added)

This latest tidbit seems to suggest that it was not the mods who Saved the OTT from full-on Madnessing, but GLR himself.
More information will be posted if/when it gets noticed by OTTish investigators.

We have been blessed by the GLR Himself!

Ch**p, did I sign that? Hi mikrit, welcome back! I guess we I had better fix that sign. A new sign, warning that there are tygers within? No, I'd open that door myself. Police tape? Disguise the door as a wall? Wait, to fix the sign I'd have to go back down into the basement, and I might get lost again...

It has been kind of you to keep the thread alive.
Isn't it wonderful that they have? I just got back yesterdip, myself.

I don't think I was consciously aware that the Temporversary was coming, I just really missed the OTTers. Anybody else? Are we homing OTTers?

Thanks for the comments on the Dark Lord, yappo, ZoomanSP, ergman, and BlitzGirl.
yappobiscuits wrote:Also, what in Randall's name is an "animal"?

Well, y'see, when I started writing the Dark Lord on NP640, the word "molpy" had been coined only 19 newpages earlier, only one (or two?) had been seen so far, and it wasn't yet clear what the molpy was. So I postulated that Molpies were a specific type of creature sent by the Dark Lord to follow Megball. So, 'molpy' has a specific meaning in the Dark Lord which is different than the specific meaning that later developed in the OTT. So, I was forced to use the word 'animal', a heretical word that was replaced by 'molpy' in the OTT, but unfortunately necessary in the Dark Lord. Ah well, why would the Dark Lord care if he was committing heresy anyway? :P

The Zanclean Zodiac

Image

Lessons are learned, here in the valley, every day. But so much is learned by assumption. When ᑕᖗᕋ travels uphill and right past the humans, assumption tells them that it is dangerous, that it is sharp. Brave from their recent encounters, the humans investigate, only to find it to be softer than it appears and no danger at all to them. It merely tries to defend itself, just as they do.

Ah - good to know! Also, I was wondering how much crossover there is with the LOTR world.

It basically takes place in the same universe as LOTR and the Silmarillion, in, I think, the Fifteenth Age of Arda. (Tolkien said that Middle-earth was the fictional past of our world, and that we're currently living in the Sixth or Seventh Age, so I figure that works out about right.) The Dark Lord of Moraer is some Maia that probably served Morgoth in the First Age. Rosetta and Expando may or may not be the Blue Wizards, though I've never heard of a male Maia taking a female form.
(Can you tell I'm a serious Tolkien geek? )

Hm, wasn't there a complicated procedure for posting an attachment? I definitely cannot remember that, let's hope this works:

About my personal life, you may remember that my mother had a fracture on a hip bone. She is recovering well and moves around rather quickly with just a crutch. But she will soon move from her villa to a more convenient apartment. And in December, my wife slipped on the pavement and hurt her right arm - no fracture, but it has developed into something called "frozen shoulder" with some pain and rigidity. It is supposed to heal with time and training, but it can take a while.

It has been kind of you to keep the thread alive. Is it time for Madness again? I see that new ONGs are arriving from somewhere. Maybe I will try just a tiny, tiny bit of ketchup...

Hi, Mikrit, loved the Ottercomic! Hope you mom gets to feeling better soon. Sounds like ucim has some experience in that area. My friend had a frozen shoulder and it was a bummer, but it did get better.

Greetings from NP450!

Spoiler:
The fade to white arrives. A fear lies on the land. Lurkers delurk from every direction, many wanting to be sure they at least have a chance to say hello to fellow members of the OTT whom they have come to know over these past newpix. Blitzgirl arrives in the present almost perfectly timed to LaPetite's reentry in the last few frames of the fade. (Coincidence? I don't believe in coincidence... only in layers of structure and meaning we have yet to uncover.) Finally, whiteness is upon us. (Along with several lovely white-themed ottifilkifications.)

And then... the bifurcation. The first frame of the rest of time appears, and mysteriously disappears after being posted due to apparent server issues. (Coincidence? I... said that already.) Rejoicing is mixed with confusion as we try to understand whether there really is another frame, and if there is, what a frame of half white and half black might mean for our future.

So I wait again, or I blitz again, as appropriate. Maybe someday I can truly earn the title "BlitzGirl the slowest." :?

TTFN,
Marsh'n

Hi, Marsh'n! Good to hear from you!

Ooh, the new Dark Lord installment is treeish and molpish! And animalish, I guess! :D

I would have guessed Hawk.

Who ever mikrit is:
Thank you for the peek behind the scenes.
You have your hands full of women.

It's only fair.
There was a day when they had their hands full of you. right?

addams, I love your posts. :)

Spoiler:

Edit: streak of mustard -> streak of ketchup

Haha, awesomeful post! But...we're short and pudgy? How did you knowI mean, we are not!!

yappobiscuits wrote:Also, maybe HES is right and we should lay off the otherthread a bit. Someone called us creepy. That is unmolpish.

Yeah, I agree, I think our zeal and eagerness to welcome Others to the OTT is making us seem cultish rather than molpish.

That's funny.

Creepy? Really?
Well...Isn't that the Troll calling Time creepy.

In other words, I'm going to tie a bunch of molpymolpygrapevines together and venture down there to fix that sign. Hopefully I won't get bitten by any llamamolpies...

(Why do llamas have a Welsh name?)

Ha! If it was Welsh, it would be llhwyddwrhnnallwch.

Once, a long time ago, there was a language. A language like any other language. A normal ratio between vowels and consonants.
However, some consonants in this language were not molpish. They felt they were better than the vowels.
Tension rose. A vowel shot a consonant. This started a civil war.
In the end the vowels went to Finland and the consonants went to Wales. To this day vowels are held in prison camps in Wales and consonants in Finland.
