xkcd.com still shows 1349, and many browsers are having issues. Yes, it is Whifdix, but it is also the first of the fourth heretical month.

I thoroughly enjoyed Externalities, but we'll see if this becomes awesome. Knowing GLR, it probably will.

Also, has anyone noticed that the Othercomic 1350 tread only has 12 posts? It's growing quite slowly for something that seems so interesting.

Or, you could just find a friend dat knows wa you be a do, tell dem a budget an' an expected workload (gaming, processing, rendering, email/office, etc), an' let dem do dey magic.

pcpartpicker.com be even better for dis, in me experience, as it does compatibility checking an' best-price-shopping all at once as well :)

Here in the Netherlands we have a webshop that has a built-in compatibility checker. Very convenient. It's alternate.nl but I don't think they deliver worldwide.

About the sadness and stuff: we are cultish. But anything with a lot of inside jokes is cultish. The XKCD forums are cultish according to the rest of the Internet. We are a subcult.
Granted, we are more cultisherder than the rest of th XKCD forums. A lt cultisherder in fact.
I don't consider it strange that the Otherthreaders consider us cultish.
I consider the OTT home.

I would refrain from organised vandalism OTTifying. Seriously molpish, though. And there's an element of waiting for it - you can only get so far until more responses are added.

There are a LOT of othercomic references in there. (EDIT: And otherothercomics)

I don't know. If we did it to every one, yeah, that would be ridiculous. but to have one branch of one branch of a tiered story molpy based doesn't seem all that off. I say this as someone who frequently doesn't get certain jokes in XKCD-proper because of nerd-branch specific in-jokes.

(schizo-)Blitzreport from Beacon Gamma
Image

I have reached @AluisioASG's kindly-placed Beacon Gamma, which has reminded me that I haven't done a normal Time-Capsule on my Blitzing progress since before I left through the auxiliary TARDIS entrance to join y'alls for the Tymiversary. In the mrob-aforewhen that was NP1438, and NP1812 up here in the Present.

Time-Capsule from Mrob27
Deposited: NP1472 — Do not open until NP1858

The gang (Timborme and the bots) seem to have been having a duckish time here on the TARDIS. Timborme, amazingly enough, has found a 2048 clone which I might have left running in the TARDIS main control room. Image. I'll describe what I've seen in the Newpages 1438-1472, leaving out the few bits I quoted in recent posts during the Tymiversary.

It was computed by extrapolation that we would have more pages than Fluff (which then still had its earlier turtle-related name) by now. That did not happen, and my post-rates might show why: I am heading into a period of gradual slowing of the OTT that reverses in the late NP1600's.

Sandcastle Builder progress has been raptorish and steakish. chirpingmustard.com has been chosen as a domain name. @ChronosDragon begins to help with the clock icon and needed JS/HTML/CSS, then later starts to illustrate for game icons. (The newword hotdog is still in my afterwhen, NP1527; sadly the mr*bdex generated by nopixbot is not fancy enough to distinguish the modern sense of the word from earlier usages such as the manip of frame M2207 by @yappobiscuits)

The past-aforewhen version of me has been leaving carefully dated Time-Capsules. By coincidence, my past self has started Blitzing the original RECKONING (Madness 2013) even as y'all began to experience Temporal Madness 2.0.

@yappobiscuits marked his 1000th post with a wingish OTTification of Bilbo's speech from Lord of the Rings "A Long-expected Party", and a hilarious original song. Soon after, with this list I realized that he has much enough OTT music for a full-length album (note the list is not all waterottermolpy, but its yapponess is predominent).

The Drawception trend is foreshadowed by this post by @lmjb1964 describing "The Game" essentially equivalent to telephone pictionary. A game is started within OTT post spoilers, and discussion ensues about how to match the game a little more to the forum-post format.

I love the partial OTTifications (Preamble and Article I) of the U.S. constitution. Of course, we have guiding documents of a sort, such as @BlitzGirl's inspiring "grains of Sand(semencancercoffeebabies) in a Sandcastle" of NP454 (which I'm hoping wlll win the OTTscar :D )

@waveney posted to explain the creation of the Beany ONGs (the first series, not the more seaish MysteryONG series that will come later).

There have of course been many treeish Blitz reports, by Blitzers who were well ahead of the "dissoblitzer" past-mrob.

@lbjb1964 reminds me that it's okay to be honest here, which is reassuring.

@Kieryn posts graphic visualizations of the OTC over time, with a black ink as a function of time graph and a beautiful composite of all frames. The latter strongly suggests that Randall used horizontal guides to align the dialogue text.

@svenman describes a French car forum thread that demonstrates many of the qualities of the OTT ("[a] subculture with its own customs, in-jokes, and specific jargon...") and 5267 pages of 40 posts each. It is growing roughly at a constant rate with 5387 pages now, having been started on Departure 16 in the yip 8 B.T. (Outsider date 2005-05-07). I grabbed a few cool smilies whilst I was there: Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image (only a couple of which describe me now or at any particular time :P )

Hey it looks like the ducks are waking up and quacking to the Thread, so I guess I'd better ketchup!

Baobabs, that othercomic is wowterful.

Anyway, I have an announcement to make. I have been working on a Secret Project for the past three dips, and I am ready to unveil the first prototype!

ANNOUNCING AUTOMOME, the Ottish AUTOMEME clone
Being a fan of AUTOMEME and Ottish, I have decided to fuse the two together, and the result is AUTOMOME. It's a random internet meme generator using Ottish vocabulary! It's also fully Free Software; you can find the source code here.

At present, its vocabulary is somewhat limited (especially when it comes to intransitive verbs), so if you'd like to suggest more words, I'm all ears. Also, if you'd like to have your username added to the list of characters, that's no problem either -- but be aware that it may say some unmolpish things about you. ;)

The web frontend has been tested with Firefox 24.4.0 and Chrome 33.0.1750.152; it should work in any recentish standards-compliant browser.

Enjoy!

Hey! Why'd Corrine come flying out? we were having a very nice and dignified tea party, chit chatting about inconsiderate people who blow up comfy chairs...not to name any names...and then she picked her head up, and came out this way at nearly mach 2.

She is really quite nice, and extremely polite, by the way. It's almost as if when near that same unnamed person, Corrine takes on some less desirable qualities. Still, one does what one can for one's pets.

IT'S ALL RELATED
Image

1. The above image was my contribution to this game on Drawception, on the 26th of Visitation Ja, 0 A.T. (Outsider date 2013-11-29).

2. The birds depicted in that panel are blue-footed boobies — a reference to this song by @yappobiscuits on NP812.

3. The following panels in that game show and describe ducks, and panel 7 mentions otters. My panel in that game, panel #2, combined with panel #7 just mentioned, make up my favourite number 27. The Newpage number of Yappo's post (812) times the penalP number 2, plus panel number 7, plus my favorite number 27, plus the 200 post-count, equals the current Newpage number: 812*2 + 7 + 27 + 200 = 1858.

4. As evidenced by this post (quoting the previous post which was me), the aforementioned "ducks" are also the new "furious doodling" (Madness 2014) transformation of the word "ottërs" (hereafter referred to as "otters"). Coincidentally (meaning "at the same time" as that quote), I added duck features to my avatar and my signature.

5. "otters" are also a type of molpy, that has a primarily, but not exclusively aquatic lifestyle — much like ducks.

6. The song referenced in #2 and the post referenced in #4 is by an OTTer who is also an otter (i.e. waterottermolpy), @yappobiscuits.

7. @yappobiscuits was recently seen rampaging around the world, much like Godzilla (ゴジラ)

8. Godzilla is commonly thought of as some kind of Tyrannosaurus, though the resemblance is a bit superficial. The real T.Rex probably had feathers. Both T.Rex and Velociraptor feature in the Jurassic_Park books and films, and Velociraptor also had feathers — like the above-mentioned ducks.

9. Velociraptor has been an inspiration to Randall Munroe, and therefore to xkcd fans, leading to early speculation that raptors or T.Rex might appear in the OTC. The veloci- part of the name means "swift" or "fast", and "blitz" is also commonly used to mean "fast" (though it is German for "lightning").

10. The OTT's post rate in recent dips has been called "raptorish" because it has been faster than at any point in Time since before the start of my Blitz — a fact pointed out by @BlitzGirl on NP1842. (Note the "blitz" connection to both @BlitzGirl's name and to the topic of that post).

11. During this recent raptorish period for the OTT, we've been watching the drawings by Bravebean/Zombeanie, presented within a story by Frizzle told in drawings, which in turn is presented within the longer MysteryONG story by SilentTimer told in drawings — a recently-mentioned recursive phenomenon which could well be called "drawception" (see #1), except they'd be wrong.

12. Also because of this raptorish OTT post rate, I have just arrived at my 200th post, an event I was preparing for when I made that Drawception panel. Return to step #1.

See — It's all RELATED!!!
