Sorry if this has been discussed - I couldn't find anything by searching for "290".

Was there a frame #290? I get one of those "no image" icons at xkcd.aubronwood.com.

Any ideas what happened there?

Hmm. If we found out how much the sea level rose since the beginning of time we could assume a location (and therewith an average tide rise), compare with the pixel-height of Megan/Cueball and so get an in-comic-duration of the One True Comic* so far!

* and so for the first time an approved newpix/time-in-The-One-True-Comic-ratio!

I see it. The water has risen a little bit. Formerly grey pixels on the waterline are now totally black. Although it's weird that Megan didn't move.

I first saw it at frame 10 or 11. Since then I've read every post of the first (approximately) 100 pages in this thread and registered to say “I registered because of Time.”
But, alas, The Outside interfered, stole so much of my precious Time that I wasn't able to say that or even to follow the recent developments in this thread. (Which is why I quote a post that's close to 40 pages in the past.) That's kind of sad. Meh… :?

So… yeah. What was my point?

Oh, right:
“I registered because of Time.”

There. I said it.

Sorry, I missed a few dozen pages of convo due to the need to sleep, commune with family, work, etc. (I know, so weak of me! But the work pays for the interwebs.) so this has probably already been discussed, but I just can't read through everything at this moment.

When did the forum start subbing phrases? Are the mods doing that? Has it been done in the past? (Never visited forums until the beginning of Time.) Thanks in advance for the bestowal of knowledge!

Oh thank goodness she moved!! I know the water changed a teeeeny amount last time (according to a poster on this thread) ... but it was still very, strange!! So yeah. Going at a very slow pace now. As if it wasn't bad enough that the updates are hourly now, we're also stuck with a barely moving/changing Megan + mound. Better than the ZERO change we got during the lone castle phase I suppose!! ... I wish cueball would come back, but my heart is set on the fact that MAYBE he is building off-stage-left :D

I've done a very poor job keeping up with all these forum posts. So when I checked today I felt very alienated. It appeared as though you'd all devolved to this ridiculous dialect to go with the religion surrounding the one true comic. But it's not you guys right? It's Randall being a funny guy right?

There are a lot of us in the same boat. I follow this thread and the comic religiously. But sometimes it is literally impossible if you have even a tiny bit of a life!! But just know you're not alone at feeling a little left behind :)

Not Randall specifically. But no, definitely not us. See the announcements.

I suggest wandering over to one of the other threads briefly, and when you come back here it'll seem so much better.

At the end of Thing that keeps slipping into the future there be no when. that be the problem with space/Thing that keeps slipping into the future universe theory. There be no way to define edges or endpoints from within the phenomenon itself. We must simply content ourselves with the when that we have now, and see where it takes us.

Excellent first post!

I still say it'll be a sand trebuchet and Cueball's off-screen building an EVEN LARGER CASTLE TO KNOCK DOWN.

The water is finally rising though, which doesn't make sense with any reasonable time scale. So it must not be a moon-regulated ocean, basically.

This is my first post, as I have literally just created this userid. I have been following this thread since the beginning; in fact, I've been following xkcd for years without ever creating an id on the forum. . .until now. :D

Although I'm very intrigued by the number of followers this particular comic has attracted, and REALLY impressed with the work everyone has done on the wiki (major kudos to aubronwood as well!), I've found "Madness" to be an annoying distraction. I've mainly been flipping through the forum searching for the posts that might provide me with some insight into where the #%$!% Randall is headed with this comic! I've spent way too much Time (with a capital "T") checking out the progress this past week. . .
