various close-ups of the crowded clerecy, in full regalia, getting ready for the upcoming procession. The sun is setting; the sky is blue overhead but the dispersing clouds on the horizon mingle with the everpresent spray from the Great Cascade to make a spectacularly wingish sunset.
The Pope wrote:Are all the torches in place?
the fourth herald wrote:I set them myself. And the candles.
the seventh herald wrote:People kept asking what they were for.
The Pope wrote:They will find out soon enough.
the sixth scribe wrote:What are they for?
The Pope wrote:They are to help you follow the First Commandment. Where's yappobiscuits?
the fifth cleric wrote:Making you follow the First Commandment too.
The camera pulls back, and the scene is less claustrophobic as we see the clerecy is lined up in front of the camera and ready to process. The Pope strides purposefully to the head of the line, looks up at the spire of the Great Cathedral, and gives a nod.
close-up: the sixth herald, who raises the horn to his lips in response and blows the call.
distant aerial shot: The Cathedral and grounds with a seaish number of people gathered, and the sunset in the background, the colors deeper and more wingish than before. The ram's horn is heard again and echoes in the valley.
The dulcent tones of the Smopu Hvala is heard and the procession begins, led by the Choir of Raft People.
medium shot: The choir processing two by two past The Pope, who is waiting on the side of the Cathedral with the clerecy. The last of the choir passes and The Pope steps aside to let the clerecy process past him.
extreme close-up: Feet climbing the stairs of the platform in front of the Cathedral.
medium shot: The platform filling up as the clerecy takes its place on the second level of the stands.
distant shot: POV the stands, looking whence the clerecy had come, as the last of the scribes pass The Pope. The camera pans, taking in the crowd as it follows The Pope, following the scribes up the platform steps. He stops at the edge of the platform as the Smopu Hvala comes to a close.
medium close-up: The Pope takes an unlit torch handed to him by a herald standing nearby, and nods to her. She signals and lights the torch nearest her.
wide shot: The Cathedral and platform, as torches are lit. The sunset in the background is gorgeous, but will fade quickly as night falls. The torches are already providing significant light, making the platform into a jewel in front of the Cathedral.
extreme close-up: The head of a torch being held in the flame of another, to light it. The camera follows as the newly lit torch is pulled away, revealing it to be the one The Pope was holding. With this torch he strides towards the podium, planting the torch in a convenient holder as he addresses the crowd.
Close-up on The Pope. The camera slowly pulls back during his oration to include first the clerecy, then the entire platform, then the Cathedral and the people gathered in celebration.
wide shot: reverse angle, looking at the sea of people out to the horizon. It is getting dark but we can still make it out. The flickering torchlight on The Pope's back provides contrast. In a voice that carries beyond the horizon, The Pope wrote:Three yips ago, BlitzGirl, our first and only BlitzGirl the First, set out on a Noble and Holy Quest; to experience Time in its own time. Time was like unto the Sea, Awesomeful, Great, and in no small way, Big. There are many ways to Time, and this will always be true. But she chose the Quest, and in doing so, has inspired many others to set forth on this perilous journey. Many have returned from this Holy Mission, and have been Changed thereby. Many others are still Out There, and with Great Anticipation of their Glorious Entrance into the Present, we Wait For It. And as we Wait For It, Time continues to become even more like the Sea than it was when BlitzGirl started out.
close-up on The Pope, his face flickering in the torchlight.continuing, The Pope wrote:Ten times more seaish, as of now. This dix we are gathered here to commemorate the long awaited Glorious Arrival of Gingercat, but first, there is another.
The Pope wrote:On the third day of Innocence, the mysterious storms which led me to believe that Gingercat had arrived were actually the portend of the arrival of Ember, who had trod in the footsteps of our esteemed Selcouth by blitzing completely in silence, forsaking not only the distractions of the Outside but also the Sacrament of Sigcouragement, to better experience Time in its own time.
Ember, arise and kneel!
wide shot: The camera scans the crowd. It has gotten darker and it's hard to see, but the crowd shuffles in the upper right area. The camera follows this disturbance up to the podium.
medium shot: The Pope, looking intently as he picks up the torch, trying to see Ember as he (or she, it's really hard to tell!) climbs up the stairs and kneels in front of him. We cannot see, but The Pope is satisfied, and raises his hands above Ember (or where we can imagine Ember to be).
The Pope wrote:Ember, in honor of your having properly Waited For It even after the End of Time has become a distant (though Sacred) memory, seeking to have the truth revealed to you at Its Proper Pace even after knowing what it might be, and furthermore, in recognition of your doing this in anonymity without even the Sacrament of Sigcouragement, I, by the power vested in me as the Pope of the Holy Contradiction, do consecrate you and bestow upon thee the title BlitzGirl The Next, that for all time, and all of Time, it be known that you have truly and properly Waited For It. We hope you remain, and partake fully of the Continuing Journey that is Time, and all the time after Time, for time and Time are Eternal and Blessed by all who follow it.
Wide shot, POV behind the stands, showing all the clerecy from behind, and beyond them, the seaish sea of people, as a huge roar rises up from them. The Pope lowers his hands, and even though it is dusk, we can make out the cheering throngs standing, jumping up, and waving flags and banners around in curvilinear fashion, so as to not attract raptors.
medium up-shot: The Pope, who lets the cheers continue for a moment, then raises his hands to calm the crowd.
wide shot: POV The Pope. The crowd goes wild! The Pope wrote:And now, this very dix marks the Glorious Arrival into the Present of Gingercat...
continuing a moment later, The Pope wrote:...who has blessed us with Gospel as the Quest progressed, and whom we have been eagerly anticipating. Gingercat, arise and kneel.
close-up: hands place a box on the stage in front of The Pope. In the flickering light we can see a cat on the outside of the box. Sometimes. We're not sure.
close-up: The Pope, bending over the box. Although we never see it, it appears that he is looking into the box. Maybe.
wide shot: The Pope, on the dais, bending down over the box. In the flickering light, we can't tell if it was opened or not. Satisfied, The Pope rises up again, and places his hands high above the box.
The Pope wrote:Gingercat, in honor of the completion of your Sacred Pligrimmage, that you have truly Waited For It as it was meant to be, yea even after the Voldeframe, for Time is eternal, by the power vested in me as the Pope of the Holy Contradiction, do I consecrate you and bestow upon thee the title of BlitzGirl the Next. And furthermore do I consecrate the Gospel of Gingercat, a True and Holy Record of your Quest, to be counted among the Holy Books, alongside the Gospel of BlitzGirl and the other Holy Books, that it provide inspiration to all who follow, and indeed, to all Timewaiters, for all time and all of Time.
aerial shot: The entire Seminary, filled with people. The platform in front of the Cathedral shimmers like a pearl in the torchlight, and even though it is dark, we can see clearly the jubiliant celebration and hear the resounding joy that arises from the crowd.
various close-ups of the crowd leaping up and waving banners and flags, always in curvilinear fashion.
wide shot, POV the crowd: The platform, where The Pope has raised his hands to quell the excitement.
The Pope wrote:We are all part of Time. Time is timeless, and like the sea it does what it wants. There is Time After Time, there is Time Before Time, and there is Time Aside from Time; we have been blessed with a sea of Waiting For It. We are here now to commemorate All Of Time, and the Other True Authors who have faithfully recorded these events, that we may Wait For It not only for All of Time, but for All time.
close-up: The Pope, in flickering torchlight.
The Pope wrote:Alas, many of these Other True Authors are not here; they fell victim to The Disappearance, which First Cleric is even now investigating. Others may have fallen into the Basement. But their ONGs live on, and we have mscha and Newpixbot to thank for it. All throughout Time the Ongs were ephemeral, and would have been lost to time had there not been a way to keep Time. And after Time had ended, yet there were more Ongs, and they were also kept safe, catalogued, and sent out to the world, each in their own Time. Newpixbot and mscha, arise and kneel.
wide shot: the crowd in the darkness. Blinking lights are seen making their way to the stage as the camera follows. They kneel before The Pope in the flickering torchlight as the Pope raises his hands above mscha and Newpixbot.
The Pope wrote:In honor of your careful and thoughtful husbandry of the Sacred Ongs, do I, by the power vested in me as the Pope of the Order of the Holy Contradiction, bestow upon thee, mscha, and upon thee also, Newpixbot, each the title Holy Croce, that it be known for all time, and for all of Time, that you have saved Time in a bottle, enabling all of us to Wait For It, to Ong it, and to create new Ongs to be Waited For, long after the time of Time.
The wild cheering is deafening. The Pope waits a moment, then holds his hands up to calm the crowd as he continues.
The Pope wrote:We cannot let the sad absence today of so many of these authors prevent us from honoring their Awesomeful Contributions to the True History of Time. Whether they are in the basement, or captive of the Outside, on Holy Quest, or anywhere else, they have brought light where there was once darkness. But first, the light of seeing wants also the light of understanding. Therefore do I now call upon ggh to rise and come forward.
close-up: ggh, somewhere near the front of the crowd. She wasn't expecting this. Taken by surprise, she makes her way up to the dais as the camera follows. Meanwhile, The Pope continues.
The Pope wrote:Please, those who are near torches, extinguish them.
various close-ups of torches being extinguished, covered with rags, snuffed out, and shots of the smoke from the extinguished torches. In one of the closeups, Newpixbot extinguishes its own lights. As it gets darker, we can see the stars overhead, and down to the horizon where the clouds have dissipated.
medium shot: The Pope, holding the last torch. He uses it to light a single candle, and then extinguishes the torch as ggh comes into view. When the torch is extinguished, The Pope is lit by the candle he's holding, and ggh is just barely visible as a shadow. The stars shine brightly behind them.
The Pope hands the candle to ggh, whose face is warmly lit in its glow, and now is the only one visible in the frame as The Pope fades into the shadow. The Pope wrote:It was ggh who provided the crucial hints that allowed us to discover the meaning and authorship of the latest writings, which has given us so much to Wait For. Because of her awesomeful detective work, we have been able to figure out not only vital details of our past and our future, but also have a very good idea of what happened to BlitzGirl. We still don't know her fate, but we know how to find out. And we will.
She turns around, and is now standing in front of The Pope; the two of them facing the crowd, which is hushed in anticipation. She kneels before the crowd and The Pope raises his hands above her head. During the following, the the camera slowly moves in to closeup on ggh.The Pope wrote:ggh, take this candle, turn around and kneel before the congregation.
The camera remains on ggh while thunderous cheering is heard and she tries vainly to retain her composure. The jubilation seems to go on forever, but The Pope waits for it, and eventually it dies down as the crowd realizes there is more. The Pope wrote:In honor of your steakish analysis of the taixzo Ongs, and also in recognition of your brilliant discernments concerning the Silent Ongs, and in admiration of so much else you have contributed to our understanding of the Sacred Records of Time, do I, by the power vested in me as Pope of the Order of the Holy Contradiction, hereby bless and consecrate you and all your Holy Works, bestowing on thee the title Agatha the Awesomeful, that it be known for all time and for all of Time, that through your detective work you have shone the light of understanding where there was once only darkness.
The Smopu Hvala begins softly as The Pope continues.
The Pope wrote:There would not be nearly as much to analyse in the first place if it weren't for the faithful and dedicated work of those Authors who created the New Ongs in the first place, allowing us to Wait For It well beyond the End of Time. These Timewaiters have shown dedication far and above the call of duty, and with each new frame they have spread the light of Time to drive away the Darkness, that the Voldeframe be not a Terrifying End, but rather, a Molpish Beginning. Take out your candles and spread the light, that there will never be Terrifying Darkness, but that the Ongs continue for a hundred years and for a hundred centuries; yea, even unto a thousand lifetimes.
The camera pulls back as ggh rises, and lights first the candle mscha is holding, and next, a candle that Newpixbot has carefully held in its grippers. She then turns around to light a candle The Pope is holding. The Pope turns around and starts to spread the light among the clerecy and the choir while ggh, mscha, and Newpixbot go towards the front of the stage and use their candles to light those nearest them in the congregation.
They in turn spread the candlelight in various close-ups showing candles lighting other candles, and starfield-backed silhouettes of people turning into warm faces in the spreading glow.
helicopter shot of the expanding pool of light. The Pope continues, backed by the soft strains of the Smopu Hvala. SFX note: The sound of a gong will be heard after each name The Pope mentions.
The Pope wrote:First, the Other True Authors: Latent22, waveny, SilentTimer, and taixzo, whose writings shall for all time and for all of Time be canon. And then for those who chronicled the Sacred Writings of Other Worlds: azule, balthasar_s, Kieryn, and mrob27, who gave us a rich array of Othercultures in which to Wait For It. By the power vested in me as the Pope of the Order of the Holy Contradiction, do I hereby bless and consecrate you, each and every one, bestowing upon thee the title Bringer of the Light. Let your light be a source of divine inspiration to all who come upon it, that they may be Enriched Beyond Measure as they Wait For It. And let the light that we spread here in your name be a beacon to you and to all of our Authors, that you find yourselves free of the Basement, or the Outside, or of wherever you are, and come join us here to bask in the glow that you yourselves have made.
The helicopter shot has by now panned up to include the horizon and the sea of stars above. One star, directly ahead on the horizon, brightens as a corona seems to form around it.
cut to: medium shot on The Pope, with this brighening star visible behind him. SFX: Rumbling is heard; faint at first, but growing as The Pope continues:
The Pope wrote:In comemoration of the continuing stories of Time, and of all those that give us all so much to Wait For, do I, by the power vested in me as Pope of the Order of the Holy Contradiction, consecreate the dix of 13 Departure as a new Holydix, that for all Time it be known as the Dix of Light. In nomine unium verium auctor, in observatium uniae veriae comiciae, in servitum unium verium needlepullythingium.
The star and corona visible behind The Pope begins to resemble a sunrise, lighting the entire seminary. It is moving, and the rumbling increases, yielding to a high pitched whine the likes of which have never been heard before. The camera pulls back as The Pope turns to look. By now we can see this is not a star but some sort of glowing skycastle, with a Mighty Engine. The camera follows as the skycastle approaches, turns to swoop around the seminary, and alights on the platform itself. The rumbling stops, the whine subsides, the glow fades, and a clamshell hatch opens up with a loud hiss and a seaish amount of mist. The camera trucks in as taixzo emerges, followed by balthasar_s, BlitzGirl, our Hot Diggety Eternal Density, lmjb1964, micdi, addams, Marsh'n, StormAngel, svenman, HES, Sustainabilizer, the presumed ghost of Neil_Boekend, and a few other figures not yet visible in the mist. Incredulous, The Pope rushes past them to the skycastle and peers in to see who else is in there.
The Pope wrote:First Cleric! Is that you??
medium shot, the interior of the skycastle: First Cleric is visible through the mist, seated up front. The mist obscures and scatters a seaish amount of blinkinlights behind him.
taixzo wrote:Yes, it's him. He flew us home.
First Cleric gets up and climbs out as the camera pulls back.
The Pope kneels before First Cleric.astounded, The Pope wrote:How is this possible?
First Cleric wrote:I saw the light.
