Alt Text: WHY DON'T YOU COME HANG OUT INSIDE MY HOUSE. WE CAN COOK BREAD AND CHAT ABOUT OUR INTERNAL SKELETONS.

Was not expecting a spider, thought there would be some sort of in joke about the homerow. =(

Spider hasn't done her research. When you get caught in something like that, you just say "sorry, I was using a European keyboard".

Does this remind anyone of the part in Terminator 2, when the T-1000 replicates his foster mom? And they're complaining about the dogs that won't stop barking?

Randall has some history of Terminator knowledge, yes?

A frequent meme on certain image boards (and maybe some forums but I don't know of any) is to claim such and such poster is a spider. Either "next poster, don't listen to him", or "a spider is behind this/these posts" (both paraphrased, usually implied with images). Some people play into this deliberately, posting pictures of spiders, calling them cute and harmless etc.

Great one. I like how the vertical format hides the punchline.

That doesn't make sense. Letters and numbers are in the same places for most languages. Interpunction and other special characters have more differences.

You mean you've never typed an "Anyway" on its own to indicate that you desire to change the topic and to get the signal in before the other participant types something you may feel impelled to respond to?

Admittedly, I usually do "Anyway..." rather than "Anyway," in that situation, but it's still recognisable...

I fully agree with you on today's comic. I think it's one of the funniest that Randall has ever made. Really top notch.

But "this week"? I found Monday's "Brackets" to be kind of meh. Let's wait and see what Friday will bring :)

I was disappointed that the spider didn't reply to this by saying he (she?) learned to type on one of those keyboards that have the numbers on the right hand, and had accidentally touched the appropriate meta key to enable that feature while typing a J and getting a 7.

The best way to throw people off your scent is always to admit to their suspicions. If someone is, for example, showing signs of starting to think you're a Scythian dragon trapped in human form by renegade priests and bound against murder by an oath you were tricked into swearing to the bloodline of Octavian, just tell them "I am an ancient and powerful dragon, tremble before my might!", and from then on they'll assume you're crazy or one of those self-absorbed defective internet people that thinks they're an animal. I mean, in every other case it works because they think you're joking or being sarcastic, but I just wanted to use that example to prove the extreme case...

It was the bloodline of Ephramel, actually, and, um... Gee, isn't having thumbs wonderful? They're so useful! I can use them all day, which I do, because I totally have, um, four-- no, two of them...

I have like 15 right now, just scattered around my computer desk. I should probably clean, but I hate throwing things out so they always just pile up, plus when I get home I'm always so tired that I pretty much just collapse and fall asleep on top of the random horde of belongings my room has become.

But I think that's what he's pointing out.

Cueball said "All of your hands were..."

One wouldn't normally say "All of your hands" to a human. One would usually say "both of your hands", since humans only have two hands.

In English, at least, "all of your hands" instead of "both" implies you know you're talking to someone with more than two hands.

So it appears to be a possible goof.

Though on the other hand (no pun intended), spiders don't have "hands", per say.

Perhaps it was a linguistic mash-up of "both of your hands" and "all of your fingers"?

I took it as Randall trying to be goofy in a 1322 sort of way, but in this case really distractingly given the gag of the strip.

Actually, regarding "...All your hands were clearly right on the home row"

Looking to the following message: "I don't get how one finger could have stretched up to the "7"", I feel that "hands" was supposed to be "fingers". It fits.

(n.b. Putting quotation marks around the 7 is also kinda weird, though technically correct).

It's probably a side-effect of my knowing C, but my first reaction to that is that it should be single quotes: '7' for a single character rather than "7" for a string...
