So are the results going to be posted anywhere? It's kind of been a month...

The longer it takes, the more time there is for data to be collected! So, while we're all dying to see the results, at least we know that it should be worth the wait. ;)

Except he took down the survey page about a week after the comic went up.

I guess google couldn't handle that much data in one survey. :)

I just hope that the results will show up sooner than later.

I'm beginning to wonder if the data were significantly less interesting than he was expecting, and he just decided he couldn't find anything interesting or funny enough to be worth publishing. Or maybe the whole survey was some kind of performance art piece where the point of the work was the asking of the questions, rather than the answering of them.

That was the initial appeal, yes, but it's Randall. I expect to see some section of the data reappear in some completely unexpected form in a year or so.

We've now been waiting longer than the famous Color Name Survey for results...

Just ended up on this strip through the Random button. I was really hoping the link would've been changed to some sort of analysis of the results... Nope.

As the thread is active again, giving me a good excuse to read it properly, let me add:

I know, right?

Because I'm not Welsh (so don't have instinctive good a knowledge of the typography - and the letter-mutations still go straight over my head!) I learnt how to voice the placename, first. Thus I tend to write "...pwch..." instead of "...pwll..." (close enough, for a saesneg!) and forget the 'r' in "...chwyrn..." unless I remember to 'roll' it. Unforgivably, though, I'll also occasionally type "...tislio..." instead of "...tyslio...", even though those two vowels are actually quite different.

Echo244 wrote:Is a Wales measured as the 2-dimensional area it currently occupies on a map, one adjusted for the curvature of the Earth, or are you going to iron the whole country first and then measure surface area?
(Wales again? What are the chances!) If you iron Wales flat, you'd probably find that it took up about 1.4 Waleses of area, at a guess, whether flat-flat or on-a-sphere-flat. (You'd also likely wouldn't need to steam it, it'd already be plenty dampened before you start.)

Pfhorrest wrote:For people who say "foke", how do you pronounce "Volkswagon"? "Vokes-" or "volks-"?
"Volx-", when I'm feeling lazy, but (the whole thing) something more like "Folx-vaag'n" when I think I'm making an effort. (I really need to get used to IPA notation, and use that, though.)

I'm saying, maybe he put the results somewhere secret without telling anyone and is waiting for someone to randomly stumble on the page. It wouldn't be the first time.

Maybe, the results are waiting for you inside a book, inside a bookstore.

That's good hiding.
You'll Never find it!

oh,...
Why are the results being hidden from you?

oh,...
What if....?

What if, the survey did not collect data?

What if Randall just forgot about this when he was busy with his latest book?

Edit: Perhaps the more likely reason this never got followed up is because the results just weren't interesting.

I can't believe this isn't released yet. No amount of technical difficulties is THIS bad without being catastrophic (e.g. losing all data completely and irrecoverably).

Facebook reminded me that 1 year ago today I encouraged my friends to take the survey.
1 year later I still don't recall results being published.

Anyone have any leads?
