1821: "Incinerator"

Title: My trash can broke recently and I had to get rid of it. When I picked it up, I suffered a brief but harrowing existential crisis.

You'd think putting an incinerator in an incinerator would be more straightforward, than getting a 3D printer to print a 3D printer.

I've totally disposed of a bin by putting it in a bigger bin before.

Never mind existential, trying to throw out a trash can can be a practical crisis. When I had to throw out a trash can once, the trash guys kept carefully leaving it behind. It was too big to put it into another trash can, so I ended up having to do my best to crush/mangle it to the point where it was obviously not a usable item anymore, and then I put it on top of the other trash can.

How would you dispose of the word's biggest trash can?

Build an even bigger incinerator of course! (or you could cut it up, but that would be hard/boring)

I'm guessing that's why they had to replace the incinerator in the first place.

Hurl it into the sun.

To dispose of the sun, hurl it a black hole.

Hurl small black holes into large ones.

Dispose of largest black hole through cosmic inflation.
The thing about recursion problems is that they tend to contain other recursion problems.

The new incinerator plays "Light My Fire", "Burnin' for You", and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" when it's operating.

And, when the firmware determines the pilot light is out, "We Didn't Start the Fire".

But what's wrong with those? Looks like they can still hold trash. (I'd be an annoying trash man, yes.)

I kind of agree. And even if you don't need this many trash cans, there are a lot of uses for them besides holding trash. It's great putting all the leaves in a bin, and not having to take five trips with the wheelbarrow for example. And there's something catharthic about dumping it all out in the area designated for rotting leaves (aka "compost").

When I was 11 years old I made a recycling bin out of a cardboard crate as a crafts project. My dad promptly recycled it; the only thing he's ever recycled in his life.

Could it be upgraded to a "churnin' urn of burnin' funk"?

The one time I've had to throw out a trash can, it was banjaxed enough to not really qualify as a trash can anymore, so nobody would have mistaken it for not part of the trash.

And then there's what you have to do at the start of a trash can's lifecycle.

Problem is that each new bin has to be bigger than the previous bin, until you can't get in your house any more because the bin's so massive.

That's when you move to a bigger house.

The thing I love about this site is that someone will come up with a way.

Forked stick/similar assembly. Bra backstraps tied to forks, pulled back and... Ping!

Dual-projectile catapult, obviously...
