Never, ever click on whygodwhy.va. It's got all the major body fluids by the gallon, distortions of human orifices that baffle medical science to this day, and an outstandingly creative use for broccoli. Brain bendingly NSFW.

While I've never seen Goatse, I know full well what it is, and as for tubgirl/lemonparty, I only started hearing about those recently, and don't know exactly what they are, but I'm guessing I really don't want to see them.
As for generational divide, I'm 16, and only got facebook about a month ago, don't have a myspace, and listen to almost exactly none of the music that any of my "contemporaries" listen to. So I feel that there's a generational gap between people the same age as me! I guess I just grew up in a traditional house with two brothers several years older than me, so learned to mature quickly, and probably as a result of which, I've always identified better with people much older than me. Also, it causes me physical pain when people, especially so-called "musicians", at my school do not recognize the name Frank Sinatra at all. I feel really old right now....

I don't remember my first (and only?) goatse. But I still haven't been brave/stupid enough to go googling for Tubgirl.

I do like the alt-text for this one though.

That... Yes. That's so obscure that I need to see it.

I actually came very close to getting in trouble for that in middle school thanks to googling prime numbers for a math project. I just barely managed to close the window in time.

I was casually discussing stuff like this with a friend. He had never heard of nor seen tubgirl, and I said "you could google it", I might have added "but you shouldn't" a little late though, I'm such a bastard.

It makes me wonder if I still have that log saved (I log all my MSN conversations)...

My roomate lives for sending people links like goatse, meatspin, tubgirl, lemon party, mudfall, and soooooo many others.

It got to the point where if he told me to come look at something, i had to ask him if it was something he would show his grandma. He would say yes. Apparently his grandma is into disgusting anomolies of human anatomy. :?

I first saw it when some forum mod turned to the dark side on some small forum somewhere. It was horrible, every post had it edited in, all the directories replaced with size 20 bold red dirty text...

I later saw the party while looking for cat-macros.

I've seen goatse and tubgirl, but goatse was only because somebody made it the background of a buddy's computer, and then tubgirl was made my background at some point. I threw an eraser at the guy that did it. It hit him in the head, and it hurt, and I was glad.

I am not nostalgic, and I will never think it's funny to show that to anyone. Although I did notice that goatse dude was married. He had a ring on.
The drinking will continue until morale improves.

I think the image/video that disturbed me most out of all the disturbing things on the internet is that video where it says "Try to find the hidden image." and then as you're looking a corpse flashes on the screen. Of course, I saw this when I was thirteen, and I only recently saw goatse (and am seventeen now). But still, that corpse video is pretty damn scary.

Darcey, no colorful backstory for the goatse guy?

I actually got startled by that corpse thing twice. The first time I saw it, it was on a PC with the sound off, so I was surprised by the image. A few weeks later, I'm visiting my parents' house and my mom gets the link in an e-mail. I figure I'll watch to see her reation, and jumped a bit when I heard the scream.

If anyone hasn't read it, some guy goatse myspace. Full story at http://ascii.textfiles.com/archives/000278.html. For those too lazy to read the whole thing, some guy had a pretty nifty grim reaper image on his site. People began hotlinking it, that is, putting in on their webpages by linking to his site and using his bandwidth. So, he replaced the image with goatse. Then, he got an e-mail from a myspace template design company complaining that he hacked their stuff, when the company had designed their templates to hotlink.

While rereading that story, I wondered if the MPAA will ever figure out that they could do the same thing to stem illegal downloading. They could just put video files with a few minutes of real movie followed by an hour of scat porn on file sharing sites. People would gladly play $20 at a store for a movie rather than risk seeing Goatse: The Motion Picture.

I think I read something about the music industry doing something like that. Apparently, Madonna's label put files of her song(s) online tha started normally, then switched to her cussing you out for being a cheap, theiving bastard. I thought trying to find that file for a laugh, but was worried that I might download the actual Madonna song by mistake.

*shrug* I saw it while I was reading the Encyclopedia Dramatica. I think I have my shock responses turned off while I'm on that site. I can look at all kinds of disgusting (in my opinion) sexual acts occurring when they're on that site and not really be bothered, but when it comes to looking at something like that on another website where it pops up, it disgusts me like it's supposed to.

Damn you. I saw that link and thought "Hey, this link is completely worksafe."

The more I think about this concept, the more I like it. I can picture myself telling stories of Internet to children years from now.

Sorry. I thought, y'know, it would be obvious seeing as it was about a cake of an anus on a thread partly about Goatse. I'll edit for clarity.

I, thankfully, have never been tubgirl'd. I got goatse'd by proxy when a guy next to me in the computer lab got it. Still makes me shudder.

I wondered whether to check any of these links that are being so tantalisingly offered...

Then I wikipedia'd goatse and tubgirl, and found out more than I needed to know.

So, half of the people in my floor in residences just got meatspinned. The few of us that knew about all this stuff convinced them to go to... goatse, lemon party, tubgirl, and I think I'm missing one or two.

Then I got them to come to xkcd because the comic fit so well.

All their reactions were awesome, while I stood back somewhere so I couldn't see the screen they were on.

I don't feel any remorse for what I did.

Nostalgia:

Remember the days when you'd have to predict the purposeful misspellings and typos in Napster to download songs that had been blocked in the search filter?

Hahahahaha.... what a great concept for a site.

I love how there's a possibly topless girl on it (though hidden by the computer screen). Makes me curious what the backstory is... goatse is not the thing I would think to use to "enhance the mood".

Meanwhile this dude's not phased, and this one looks like he's about to kill whoever introduced him. ;-)

Or you could go with the cool answer, which is that some elite disturbing images can transcend the properties of their file extensions to further their destruction of society.

Not true, the animated gif board gets it too. Lots of rickrolling there, where the first frame is something alluring to sucker you into clicking. I've been goatse'd there with the same method.
