Pretty sure it's 867-5309. Now we know her first name, too.

I don't get it. I don't feel like pondering it. I got the first one, but I'm tired and irritable.

Haha, I'm using that, especially after this weekend having to explain one simple joke to two different people. Argh, but then again I'll end up explaining the quote...

OH! I checked the interweb and made like 800 anagrams out out the possible letters.
No wonder none of them worked.

Actually... heh, given that my online username other places online is "Firehazard" and I have been known, at conventions, to be addressed simply as "Fire," that issue might one day come up.

Oh, and I showed this comic to both my profs the other day. One of them thought it was a riot and actually showed it in class even. :D

Hah, the other day I got an email from my school. They wanted to send it to every student on campus. Their solution? Put everyone in the CC field. So now everyone has a list of every student's name and email address. Image Even more amusing is that some noob replied to it, sending the reply to everyone as well, and didn't even delete the 10-page CC field from the reply.

To think I was planning to take CS here... maybe not.

Reminds me of something my brother used to do in EV Nova. (For those who don't know, the game involved you flying around in a starship doing adventure-type things.) His ship was traditionally named something along the lines of "...against my better judgment". So he was always getting messages like, "...against my better judgment, you're clear to land." or "I've got a job for you, ...against my better judgment." It was vaguely hilarious at the time.

Then again, he also had the one-character password I never could figure out... :?

Also, CC and reply to all have to be the most easily abused features of any e-mail-type system in existence.

Similar can be done with MSN Messenger's sickeningly long names.

"Help I am being held Prisoner" by donald westlake is what I immediately thought of when I saw the alt-text.

There is a scene in it where the gentleman practical-joker in prison is accused of enclosing a note from the license PLATE factory at the prison which reads, "Help I am being held prisoner". It is such an obscure little book that I immediately found the forums and registered to see if perhaps the sketch had been associated with it. After reading the thread I conclude that the Our Noble Sketcher probably was just thinking of some of the other references found herein such as the fortune cookie factory or the license factory, even though most licenses are made on the spot, not in a factory.

Regardless, this is one of several of xkcd comics that left me helpless with laughter.

The "Help, I'm.." line was also used in Calvin and Hobbes-

Mom: Who typed "Help, I'm a bug" on my letter to Grandma?!

Calvin: Evidently some bug. How strange.

So I just learned about SQL injection, and this comic all of a sudden clicked.
NOW it's really funny.
Really.

By-the-by,
does anyone know of a sandbox where I can practice this new skill?

Looks like someone at Andrews and Arnold (UK ISP) have taken this to a new level - they are allowed to choose their own job title for the day of the census in the UK and chosen quite an interesting job title...

Took me a while but I finally understand the alt text. The mom had named the son with the idea that when he went to school his name would create a problem in the computer system, but until and after that point it would seemingly have no purpose. She named her daughter so that when someone looks at her driver's license they will think that someone trapped in a driver's license factory is trying to send them a secret message, but otherwise, it would just be an odd name. Somebody probably figured this out already, I saw it discussed on the first page.

Little Bobby Tables makes an appearance in Liberated Pixel Cup's HTML5 demo. I can't post screenshots (because images are no allowed for me) and I can't link to anything (because I'm new), so I'll just give instructions. When the demo has loaded move the left until the new screen loads, then move left some more. Bobby Tables is standing underneath 2 trees and you can talk with him :)

Years later, Russian government heeded the warning and implemented countermeasures.
New law protects state databases from SQL injection by banning numbers and punctuation (excepting hyphen, allowed one per person) in children's names.

(I've added a link to a random news site for the reference, but mods took that too close to heart. Sorry!)

It's not that the mods hate you, they just don't yet know whether they might like you. Luckily, they have low thresholds for sufficient rapport, if not intimacy. And I'll welcome you here, 'cos I'm not even that fussy, being unencumbered by such responsibilities. :P (Then point you at the Intro Thread, in case you want to say anything there.)

He's about the right age, too. The comic is from October 2007; if he was starting kindergarten then at age 5, he'd now either be 16 or about to turn 16 within the next few months.
