Sure, but I wasn't talking about any emotion, but that specific (Love) one.
Love would motivate one to please the other, lust, to please the self.
Intellect could alter the lust motivated actions to resemble Love, knowing the returns would be greater, but the lust itself wouldn't make someone a great lover. Again, I'm speculating.

I'm not certain about this, but I think the nth part is how many generations back you have to go to get to siblings, your first cousins are your parents siblings children, your second cousins are your parents first cousins children (your parents parents siblings childrens children) and so on. The removed bit is if there's a difference in generations, your parents first cousins are your first cousins once removed, your grandparents second cousins are your second cousins twice removed. If I've got this wrong somebody please correct me. Also, has anyone noticed that if you type "cousins" loads of times it stops looking like a proper word?

I want it to say cosines. Also, I'm pleased that FF's dictionary didn't yell at cosines. Also, FF's dictionary yelled at "FF's".

@woktiny i agree ^_^

hmm.. upon reading that wikip article it shows that the system is flawed. your first cousin once removed could be your parents siblings grand child or your grandparents siblings child. while this is sensical in that people are the same relation to each other (ie i am my first cousin once removed's first cousin once removed) but this could create distinct disparacies, as my first cousin once removed's first cousin once removed could be my brother/sister or my first cousin thrice removed. confusing.

I know a couple who are brother and sister.

It did seem weird, but after failing to rationalize any concrete argument against it, I decided, hey, whatever works for them.

Having said that, though, it does disturb me that they eventually intend to have children - naturally. That's just not a good idea.

My local amdram group is staging Nathan the Wise early November. I play Rachel, who falls in love with someone just to find out he's her brother :) In the play they find out before they get icky though.

As opposed to the book which I think has the best title ever (The Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Famous Moll Flanders, Etc. Who was born in Newgate, and during a life of continu'd Variety for Threescore Years, besides her Childhood, was Twelve Year a Whore, five times a Wife (whereof once to her own brother), Twelve Year a Thief, Eight Year a Transported Felon in Virginia, at last grew Rich, liv'd Honest and died a Penitent. Written from her own Memorandums.) where the main character doesn't find out until quite a while afterwards...

Just to comment on the comic...

WOOT! Butt sechs!

Okay, I'm done now.
I wrote it in a style I fondly refer to as "unabashedly fancy" - i.e., "Fuck Zen minimalism, I'm gonna use all of my favorite words and stack loads of complex syntax n' modifying phrases'n'clauses in this motherfucker, goddamn."

Sometimes. Sometimes not. Sometimes all the caring in the world doesn't change anything if you don't know what to *do* about it, and sometimes you can do the *things* without having to have any of the emotion behind it at all.

Moo wrote:I cannot rationalize my love for my hubby. I cannot formalize my cringing response to the sound of polystyrene rubbing on things. I cannot explain why I feel like doing nice things for people and being generally polite. These feelings are however both founded and usefull, surely?

By all means. Well, actually, I *can* rationalize why you feel like doing nice things and being polite, but that's beside the point.

The point is, consider it as creepy as you like, but recognize that if you can't come up with a better reason, then you have no real call to say that it's "wrong" or that they shouldn't do it. It just makes you feel icky.

Sometimes, the only thing that a feeling like that means is that you have a feeling. Nothing beyond that.

Reminds me of that one scene in the Jungle Book with the two vultures... They must have edited the animated version cuz i definetly didn't se two vultures going at it.

I have a cousin on my mother's side (my mom's sister is his mother). His father, before marrying his mother, had a daughter(the person in question) with another woman. They got married, and spawned him. They later got divorced.

What does that make her to me? There is obviously no direct blood relation but what is it called?
Is she my half first cousin? Since she is half sister to my first cousin.
Is she my ex step cousin? Since her dad married her into my family?
Should I just combine the two into ex-step-half cousin?

I believe she would be your ex-half-step cousin once removed if I am following you correctly.

"That one girl".

Seriously, stop with all that xth cousin nth removed. Nobody understands it, plus it's weird. The latter perhaps being the reason for the former.

I meant rationalize to myself. I make choices in my own life other people think are weird. I'm not going to begrudge someone else the right to do the same, as long as it's not hurting anyone.

(Hence my opposition to the having kids bit. That IS hurting someone)

I think the risk of inbreeding is that it increases the chance of having two copies of the same recessive traits. They may be able to minimize that risk with the help of a geneticist.

I imagine things would start to get pretty awk-ward after they broke up though.

I suspect muteKi is referring to HaXXXor, specifically the Nmap scene: http://insecure.org/nmap/nmap_haxxxor.html (WARNING: could be construed as NSFW)

I'm not sure if only knowing about it due to its relation to computer security is better or worse than if I only knew about it because it's (arguably) pr0n.

At any rate, this rule is awesome.

This discussion is pretty much dead and buried but I'd still like to comment.

I showed a occasional-friends-with-benefits this comic at exactly 3:48, at 4:48 I attempted to use it, if I remember it didn't work and he just rolled his eyes at me.

Also homophobe baiting is very different if your female. Perhaps because I live in a liberal state but we usually get smiles and creepy men saying "nice."

I didn't see a post about making this one a shirt. Also, at the time of this post, I haven't seen a shirt or any parafanalia sporting this comic.

Could you please sell this as a shirt? I would gladly buy one or two for $17 a piece. Even send them out as gifts to relatives and friends. Reminding them that visiting loved ones is never going to be boring

Anyone else?
