Basic Instructions rocks :P

Oh, and I was wrong about my fiance and 2girls1cup. I asked him if he'd seen it, and he was like, "Ya, about 20 seconds before I turned it off; that shit is NASTY!"

So, maybe next time ;)

After seeing the new post in the announcements section by Fearbears about the javascript pop ups etc, I feel the need to genuinely apologise for my rickroll link earlier to the "internet is serious business" website.

I genuinely had no idea that it would cause as many problems as it did. I opened it up myself in Opera and recieved no infinite popups or anything, I could simply click on the tab and close it, so was unaware that it was doing this. The intent of that particular rickroll was merely to lull you all into a false sense of security before hitting you :) not to completely piss you all off.

On the one hand I'm please to have my first Rickroll victims, but on the other hand, a big sorry for causing a problem.

0351: "Trolling"

Postby Cytoplasm » Thu Dec 13, 2007 10:39 pm UTC

(comic: http://www.xkcd.com/351/)
Well, since Rick Ashtly is concidered under "World Vibes" (as in world artist other than from the US), I thought it'd be cool to include it in World Vibes. It's a show at the radio station (WBSD) I work at that I host with two others. So I had the song put in the show for this Sunday from 2-3 pm CST. But something happened that messed up the show so the any info on the song and the anniversary with xkcd doesn't sound as great as it did before. So, if anyone is interested, xkcd will be mentioned on the radio on World Vibes at http://www.wbsdfm.com. You can listen live now if you'd like. Just a heads up, the show doesn't sound as great as orignally planned for something wacky happened in Vegas (the program).

Does that even count as Rick Rolling? If you just post the link and I click on it? I mean, if I know I'm getting Rick Rolled, is it still Rick Rolling? That is what I want to know!

No, it only counts as Rickrolling if you don't think you are being lead to a link of a Rickroll.

"The internet is serious business" gives you some really good tips on how to avoid being Rickrolled by showing you the kind of things to look out for in a link:

Nice one. Should have read the comments after it.

You know, I'd like to see someone insert a rickroll into one of those "show spoiler" buttons. That would be a great rickroll.

Someone can still do it without looking like a fool.

Wow, this thread has been dead a while.

Anyway, http://www.seeqpod.com (<- legit link) has been rickrolling people on April Fool's day:

I tried it with other songs, too, and they're doing it for everything. I just thought I'd share that.

Not to mention all of the Featured Videos on YouTube linked to a Rickroll.

Thought this might be appropriate, found it on my daily trawl through the webcomics while at work (hey, 12 hour shifts have their advantages).

Today during an assembly, they showed a video titled "important announcement", but instead all 900+ students/staff at our school got rickrolled. Sadly not many of them got it, but that didn't stop me from grabbing a microphone and singing along with much gusto.

Thanks for the idea.
My sole purpose in life is to now become one of the student announcers at my school and do that.
